Is the 5X a good buy nowadays?

I don't really care for the latest fanciest hardware, but my Nexus 5 broke and I need a replacement asap.

I use Cyanogenmod.

Coming from a 32GB 5X owner, I'd say it'a a safe bet. But I'd still buy a G3 or G4 instead.

The main problem is no SD slot, only 2GB of ram. They have come down in price hard and the Snapdragon 808 is fine for basically everything. But if you're using your phone for mobile gayman or demanding tasks, you'll do better with something with the same processing power but over 2GB of ram.

Just avoid phones with only A53 cores.

Just bought a 5X 3 days ago. Loving the shit out of it, my first Nexus phone. I'm on Nougat right now thanks to Android Beta and runs excellent for me. I want to flash CopperheadOS but I need a data cable, ordered one today.

OP I got one a month ago. It's not as "OMFG PERFECT PHONE" as the nexus 4 I had before it, but for the $200 it cost me, I'm really happy. It has generally the best specs, other than nosdslot, of any similarly priced phone.

nosd is a dealbreaker if you watch movies or listen to lots of music with your phone, but I don't so it hasn't been a problem. I did fill it up with slomo vids of my dog, but transfer speeds of usb c to a seem pretty solid, only took me 4 min to transfer 8 gigs to my laptop.

Why do you need an SD card when everything gets uploaded to the cloud and you can always have it that way?

Because the botnet cloud is an unreliable piece of shit that as a bonus shits on your battery life. You let me know when you can upload/download data to the cloud at 1,000 Mbps 24/7 everywhere you go and we make LTE only use 300 milliwatt/hour max (standard phone battery has ~11,000 milliwatt capacity).

I was tossing around the idea of a 5X over the 6P. I went with the 6P but I wish I went with the 5X. I don't need or care for the larger size and aluminum body, the 5X does everything I wanted in a more comfortable form factor and better price-point. 5X recommended.

well if you really need to carry your fullHD porn with you so that you can watch it on a 5" screen then there's always the OTG support for usb memory sticks
and if you don't want to buy a usb-c one you can get pic related for like 5 bucks

For CM yes, it's probably the best. OP3 has a lackluster screen and Redmi Note 3 Pro is a clusterfuck to get CM on. I'm pretty sure the bootloader unlock tool only runs on Windows.

I didn't say I did gayman on my phone. But if I were to do it, the 5X would not be the tool for it.

I don't know about you but I can hit 1.8GB easy.

I only need loads of space for the fuckton of pictures I have. Even so, I use Mega to back them up. I've been living alright with a 32gb phone, and I don't even use Google Drive for phone stuff.

There is literally nothing wrong with being a jew.

Settings menu makes much more sense, for example the RAM menu is separate while on stock Android it's a sub-menu in the Apps menu (which makes no sense). It has a great default file manager and overall good default apps. It has features that can hardly be considered bloat, but are missing in Android like themes and night screen mode. It gives you much more control over your device (arguably you can get this by rooting stock Android though).

There was a work around a few weeks ago where you just signed up for the developer beta online, and the 7.0 would be pushed to your phone immediately. Then you just opted out of the beta and you didn't revert back like your normally would. Did it on my 5X a few weeks back and it's been great.

I don't need access all the the time, but I prefer plugging an SD card once in my life than carrying around and plugging an adapter whenever I need it. If you for some reason like not having features that's fine, just stop pretending that not having them is better.

if you are only plugging in an SD card once in your life it just seems smarter to use internal storage, which is faster and more robust
