Which is better?
Which is better?
>should i go for one botnet or the other?
Why would I want to use google drive when I don't use chrome or gmail.
Dropbox is the lesser of two botnets
Google doesn't data mine the drive
That's also why they offer less space
dunno, but google is evil so go for Dropbox
Owncloud. Hosted on
Home server, cached by
Vps, all backed up by
Back blaze.
Now fuck off.
Dropbox is better for general use, drive is better for managing text documents and spreadsheets. I personally pay for dropbox premium and use it for offsite backups. $9/month for 1tb of storage.
So I'm attempting to use this pajeet-tier alternative named Degoo. I can't seem to upload files here however, everytime I try it crashes. 100gb free though, so I'll keep trying
If you're already using Windows 10 you might as well go full botnet.
>Not using pied piper in 2016
I use Drive. It offers more free space, which is good since I have a lot of loli doujins.
...
Sup Forums is sharing pizza with dropbox...
What about mega?
None of them are media servers accessed by an FTP.
ye Cheese pizza..
>not encrypted
You fuck off.
No u fuk off
my own FTP server
>Dropbox is better for general use
>drive is better for managing text documents and spreadsheets
this
syncthing
Google drive
This
>cached by vps
How ?
i use google drive. it backups my photos without any limits, and has better storage options. as i don't need 1tb (which is only option for 10 euro/month) i pay 2 euro per month for 100gb.
Neither.
Get seafile server. It's not hard to set up. You are on Sup Forums for fucks sake
Neither.
does Mega have folder syncing?
Can it do automatic sync to an android device either normally or with a third party app?
also you guys seem to have a pol infestation here, you don't want to let the deplorables get too comfy
>he uses (((cloud computing)) rather than free-as-in-freedom sync software
>dropbox
just skip the middleman and upload encrypted tarballs to amazon s3
No linux or web browser interface.
>Which is better?
Google Drive, seeing as they don't have a war criminal on their board of directors.
Hhhh
Oyzhxgkzgzl
They probably do on some level, but there is no advertisement connected to it and I don't know how relevant the information would be. Plus, if there was some data breach Google would lose a metric fuck ton of trust from schools and business. Both are massive revenue generators (get young kids immersed in Google ecosystem -> profit).
Boxcryptor to encrypt your files before storing them on Google Drive.
Eh
...
Why would you backup your data on a service that could close at any time due to US government investigations and which is now primarily controlled by a Chinese company?
What is redundancy you nigger?
I have local backups as well.
And a few mega accounts with encrypted backups because the size limit.
How secure is it out of dropbox and Google drive
Since MEGA doesn't know the encryption keys, they can't fuck with your shit or and it over to whoever.
S3 is better than both.
>not using baidu
>being sub-human chinese
the only reason i have dropbox is because my google drive refuses to sync with my IP Cam.
>buy a chinese ip cam
>configure ip cam. ip cam has an option to upload still images to a cloud service. i choose google because i already have an android phone.
>few months later, i reset my ip cam
>try to configure cloud service
>google refuses to add device to "approved device list"
google the problem.
don't even see any questions similar to my problem.
give up.
use dropbox instead.
damn 2GB limit is annoying.
googles 17gb limit was so much better.
i can go a month before i decide to delete all those snapshots.
but that dropbox limit means i have to delete it every few days (stupid birds during the night, stupid insects flying around at night tripping the built-in software motion detection)
no other options besides dropbox?
***birds during the day and bugs at night***
nope.
They started limits on downloads and uploads recently.
ah.
this problem aside, would you recommend the cam? and link pls?
Any hosted storage solution that can't delta sync is a gigantic piece of shit.
It's not that difficult to get some extra space
cam is fine.
i don't have a dedicated system.
i just have a IP cam and a shitty 2010 netbook that i use a file server.
the ip cam has basic settings. just good enough to not need a dedicated recording setup.
it has motion detection software.
so i have it set to record 10 seconds whenever it gets triggered.
the 10s video files are uploaded to my file server.
an image gets uploaded to my dropbox account.
$86 for the cam
amazon.com
-
$5 for 50ft ethernet cable (cheapest shit i could find on amazon...very cheap quality but it worked)
amazon.com
-
$12 for PoE injector (to power the camera and send/receive data over ethernet)
amazon.com
>referring your friends
>friends
my family is technology retarded
(they all own iphones)
my friends are semi-retarded
my friend used floppy disks until 2008 because he thought they were safer than usb sticks.
every night i get about 15MB of this shit.
On site storage. Why would you trust anyone with any data, even if it's your recipe for pork chops, I don't trust these off site storage servers.
Is there some way I can cheese this to get extra space? Because I'm running low and I'm a cheap jew.
Both shit
The original megaupload is coming back in 2017, who else is hyped up? Dotcom himself advised not to used mega anymore because reasons
I wrote a script that'd create accounts and link them in a vm to get the referral bonus, but since then shit changed so it's no longer working
Drive is awesome. Syncs across all my stuff so thats really nice. Full support in google ecosystem.

A or B
>i choose a potato!
>All kinds of "pay 5$ per month for 1tb"
>no "pay 10$ for 5gigs permanently"
Neither. I store everything on my own drives, that is the better choice.
>>no "pay 10$ for 5gigs permanently"
Nobody can guarantee they will hold 5GB of your data for your entire lifetime.
>yfw you can get 64GB of permanent storage for less than $20 without the government/corporations putting a camera up your ass
good luck reading/writing to that shit in 2yrs.
ill just be here uploading to my google drive at 1Gbps for the foreseeable future.
also
>on Sup Forums
>not knowing how to encrypt your files before uploading them to the cloud
i mean seriously guys, come on.
>good luck reading/writing to that shit in 2yrs.
Even cheap MLC NAND used on micro SD cards have more than 1000 write cycles which means you would need to write 64TB of data or 10GB/day for ~20 years to the card I mentioned before you had problems.
>ill just be here uploading to my google drive at 1Gbps for the foreseeable future.
Good luck finding a carrier that can provide you that speed 24/7 wherever you go and enjoy dogshit battery life forever (microsd cards use ~300 milliwatts/hour MAX).
>having to jump throught THIS many hoops and then risking someone decrypting your shit
stay cucked corporate whore
what is google fiber?
we are talking about backing up data. why am i backing up data on my phone?
>encrypting your files
>using password as your password
>THIS many hoops.
step 1:
upload already encrypted files (keepass, truecrypt, etc)
step 2: no step 2
or
step 1: encrypt files with encryption software
step 2: upload
you will be doing the exact same thing on your microsd card unless you are retarded.
>not encrypting sensitive data
jesus christ guys.
do you guys also have a notepad with all your passwords and email accounts.
Why not autocopy from drop into box, aurodelet old files
Question - If one encrypts a micro-SD card and wants to create a backup on a hard drive or flash drive, would those files be encrypted too and be unviewable on the PC (after plugging the hard drive or flash drive to it)?
drive is cheaper, but Dropbox as better API if you want to do fun stuff with it
The best one is your friend's ssh server that you use.
No YOU fuck off
SpiderOak is the only correct answer if you insist on paying.
Mega.Co.Nz is the best of those options
>no one using onedrive
???????
Samsung Cloud
He means virtual private server and not network.
