/dst/ - Desk Stations thread

Welcome to Edition 3 of the /dst/ thread.

In this subchan, we will discuss our software choices, themes, and usability.

In your first post, please include a screenshot of your setup to break the ice.

hello as u can see I have maxium usability from tiling

Couldn't you increase usability and efficiency by not using the gaps when your screen is sooo tiny?

...

its less usable because the user can't tell where one window ends and another begins

i have maximum usability from gay games

Almost time to reinstall lad

this is my station on my desk

You can use window borders (also shadows if you want) to help there! You see I only lose a little space and only while a window is active
Um this install is only a few days old, but I'm not a disk space worryfag

i need to redo this

That must feel good

I don't exactly have a huge storage setup but I also never worry about it.

Not a very USABLE post without an accompanying image; my apologies.

Most of that is replicate files desu. I need to make a script that goes through my home folder and removes it.

Cool setup. I will have one soon enough.

>my packages have already gone up to 1016 during this thread because I installed byzanz to record my desktop in gif form

preferred software:
i3(-gaps)
vim
htop
firefox

usability factors:
screen size:

Their was a script that uses ffmpeg to record your desktop somewhere. Can't be bothered to find it fight now

...

I would like to argue that tiling is best suited for larger screens.

Hear me out: floating wms you can sort of hide less important bits of windows with other windows and actually get more of the CONTENT on screen at once. When tiling you show the whole window, even parts you don't give a shit about.

but not in gif, and my desktop resolution is too large for webm on Sup Forums

You could resize the file but it would probably look bad. But what ever works works
