So I tried Witcher 3 today, played for maybe an hour before exiting. I go to check temperatures, and holy shit, my cpu was at around 85 (there were no problems in game). After I turned my pc off and left it for an hour to cool, the cpu seems permanently fucked now. Idles at around 50 when I used to sit below 30, and now any game, even some shit like counter strike 1.6 will bring it to 80 degrees when i would normally get MAX 55-60 degrees with very demanding games. What the fuck do I do? I've got both side panels out and have all fans on full blast. I've got a i5 6500 with stock cooler just for reference, and never, ever had a problem. And I've been playing shit like Doom 2016 on Ultra and heavily modded Skyrim with no problem either.

Nobody gives a flying fuck about your video game problems here
Also this is on a 3 week old pc so I don't want to have to replace anything, and I don't think a new cooler will help. What might have caused this? I'm 99% sure it has something to do with Witcher 3.
Fuck off.
Try asking v you stupid gamer.
Sup Forums is much better than Sup Forums for this shit. Now I'm going to wait for a real response because I'm sure someone here knows shit about CPUs.
so reapply your thermal paste and do it right this time
Now gtfo to Sup Forums
Real response here.
You are a fucking moron and 85c is fine.
If it was the thermal paste then why was it running completely fucking fine up until now?I'm not comfortable with 85c, especially because it used to be much cooler and I know it's definitely not fine that the temperature has suddenly jumped up no matter what I'm doing.
So grow up and stop playing video games, your CPU is fine
Witcher 3 broke your computer go contact their support. Were not getting paid to cope with your idiocity
You are a fucking hypochondriac.
Finding problems where there literally are none.
Explain how it is "fine", something has obviously gone wrong with cooling while I was playing and I'm worried about it causing more problems.
I plan to contact Intel, because I've not found any similar problems with witcher 3 from a quick search.
I'm not going to believe that there are no problems when clearly something has gone wrong.
>problem with CPU temps
>not with the game being played
>tells user to fuck off to v
You lot are fucking autistic neckbeards who just yell back to v as soon as someone mentions gaymen.
Can you post some screenshots of these temps, user?
What went wrong is your brain when you got fucking triggered by your CPU temperature that wouldn't have made any difference otherwise.
Look up your CPU on the Intel ARK and check the operational max temperature, you aren't at it, you probably aren't hot enough to throttle either.
Nothing I say is going to assuage you of your retarded paranoia.
Here you go. It's just a major problem with the CPU as far as I can tell, cooler fans are still spinning.
>I used to sit below 30
are you a lizard?
Even if there are no problems with it being that hot, I still see something having gone wrong and want to know what tf caused it.
Here is idle
solution. Shill for 25 dollars and buy literally any 3rd party air cooler. You're a retard. Kill yourself for literally being a fucking retard. Also 85c isnt a throttle temp for your cpu. you arent running an athlon. please use google next time and dont waste our time
First solution is thermal paste, you need to unmount the cooler and reapply the thermal paste.
You really should have an aftermarket cooler if you are concerned about temps though.
Fuck, how many times do I have to explain this. I know that it's not a throttle temp. See Thanks for the suggestion. I will probably buy one now because I will admit that high temps trigger me because of how easily something can go wrong. I would prefer to stay in the safe range that I was at before.
Thermic pasta is fries
fug
>safe range
Tj max of Intel CPUs is 105°C
GPUs around 90-95°C
When was the last time you change the thermal paste ?
Witcher 3 is a bit intensive, if your paste was old it might have destroyed it that's all.
Was like a month old, but it probably did destroy it.
just buy some arctic silver 5. It's not getting you a huge gap in temp comparing to cheaper paste, but it's more resistant for sure.
re-apply thermal paste
reminder to reapply your thermal paste once every two weeks
clean it you dumb nigger
you spelled years wrong
>Playing games
Are you 15?
speccy shouldnt be relied on as a temp monitor btw. its very innacurate. run speedfan instead.
Thanks, wasn't aware.
No, and I'm not an autist either. Wow right!?
>85c
> not in safe range
Pick one you fucking illiterate
My i5 4460 doesn't get past 60C, but the noise it makes is making me consider grabbing a new cooler. What should I be looking for?
Computers are for kids, grow up and start using a smartphone for everything instead.
...
Are you sure you were sitting at around 30C idle before? That's a big jump for seemingly no reason. I can guarantee that the cpu wouldn't suddenly generate more heat and be otherwise fine, the problem is probably something to do with the fan spinning at max speed for a while and something becoming loose/disattached. This would happen if the cooler wasn't installed correctly to begin with, something similar happened to me a few years ago, actually.
That's it? You don't want us to brush your teeth and wipe your ass for you while we're at it?
Just reapply the cooling paste and be done with it. Take your future retarded issues to
It's true. Adults only buy iPhones. Who uses computers these days?
>temp was 50
>now 85
>"FUCK 85 IS FINE"
yeah but why did it jump 35 up?
>OMG STOP TALKING 85 IS FINE?
going to answer or?
>really? he's just wondering why it's permanently gone up just 35 degrees, so fucking answer
