What knowledge is required for junior/entry UNIX role?
have a long beard
Actually, it's a common misconception that UNIX people have long beards. UNIX people usually opt for shorter, more well-groomed beards. See Kernighan, Ritchie and Thompson as the prime examples. UNIX people are usually handy engineers, which makes a beard appealing to them, but they are still employed by businesses, which means their beard must be well-groomed. Hence, the UNIX beard is a well-groomed, presentable beard.
The GNU/Beard, however, is a completely different story. GNU people are often not employed by traditional entities, and so nothing makes them groom their beard, wear a suit and tie, or even take showers in the morning. The GNU/Beard is long and ungroomed. Notable bearers of the GNU/Beard are Stallman of course, John Gilmore and Leonard Tower.
