Im very soon going to be picking up my first mobile VR headset. Are there any you would recomend?
Im leaning towards the Merge VR because it seems to have the best price-quality ratio, plus I love the material it's made out of. What do you guys think?
Aiden Lewis
>mobile VR headset This is even more retarded than console VR. There is no way mobile phone can handle any immersive VR. Just buy OR or Vive or hold until next generation for better price/quality ratio.
Blake Nelson
I have disposable income. One of the reasons I'm buying one of these now is so I can hold myself over until the next generation of PC headsets. Plus, one like this won't really ever be outdated since all the hardware is external
Xavier Bailey
But these things are useless.
Cooper James
I would recommend getting a Xiaomi VR or Bobovr3, sticking your (probably decent) smartphone into it, and using that.
Google cardboard glasses with cool smartphones inside are like the main thing in mobile VR glasses.

Gavin Nelson
The low end ones are meme.
I haven't particularly tried the high end ones like Oculus/Vive, but those mobile phone VR headsets are garbage, all of them from the expensive Samsung one to the cheap $5 chink one. Its the same shit.
Waste of money.
Mason Adams
Trust me, I bought one of those. These are beyond useless. They're fun for at best 3 minutes.
Otherwise, get a good headset (VIVE), or wait another year or two.
Nolan Johnson
Just get a basic Google Cardboard set for a few bucks. It's quite neat using it to watch 3D YouTube videos on a huge virtual cinema screen. Gets tiring quite quickly, but still neat.
As for any sort of interactive use (games), forget it. You'll spend an hour trying a few dozen shitty VR games from the Play Store and then never touch them again.
You can't get a smartphone-driven VR setup that's comparable in any way at all to the Vive/OR. Try Cardboard but please don't think it's representative of real VR.
Wyatt James
>Trust me, I bought one of those. These are beyond useless. They're fun for at best 3 minutes. Untrue. They're fun for several hours. And the good ones from china are what, like 25 bucks and the cheap ones being less than half of that? Totally worth it imo. The real question is why OP would be dumb enough to get the expensive piece of garbage that isn't better than the chinese ones.
Jeremiah Cox
An hour or so of configuring the smartphone/VR setup. Then few minutes of actually testing the setup.
Thats the mobile VR experience in nutshell. No matter if its $100 or if its $10. Its the same shit. I've tried couple, and right now those are sitting on the shelf collecting dust.
Nathan Flores
>An hour of configuration
You are doing a terrible job convincing me that you have ever even tried it
Easton Gray
The VR headsets are ready to use. You have to set up your phone/earphone, get the right distance, qr code, clean the lenses, adjust the tightness of the gear on your head, find appropriate videos/apps, etc.
If you know everything about how to setup the VR, then it will take about 15 mins-20 mins. Otherwise expect an hour or so of setup time.
Jace Davis
Nigga it takes like 2 seconds. The convenience is the beauty of it
Ryan Bell
Yeah it doesn't take an hour dude. The cheapest ones (The actual cardboard ones) take like 5 minutes, and the ones where the lenses can be adjusted etc might take 15 minutes if you have autism and have to get it perfect from the start. Most people will spend 5 minutes and maybe make some minor adjustments as they go. "Getting apps" takes like one minute and you're good to go. As for the stuff you can do, if you haven't had any experience with VR stuff there's plenty of little concept games, there's augmented reality, 3D youtube videos etc.
Nobody is saying that google cardboard (and the like) is some endless source of wonder or even remotely comparable to a real VR kit, but you can get a few hours of fun with it for a very low money, and honestly it seems you're just overly critical.
Jordan Long
>few hours of fun If you're a retard maybe.
Its a dumb investment because at most you'll get few minutes of enjoyment, the thrill of new thing. Once that vanity wears off, you'll see the garbage product that it is.
As far as investsments go, that $10-$100 could go towards much better use, anywhere from good pair of earphone to good SSDs. Nearly 1000x the return on any of these products.
John Campbell
>his is even more retarded than console VR. >There is no way mobile phone can handle any immersive VR. Just buy OR or Vive or hold until next generation for better price/quality ratio. i've got one and always use it for porn. it was 20 bucks. works great on a big phone with 2k res
Jonathan Watson
What's porn like on it
Nathaniel Robinson
Low quality.
Carter White
Makes me cum
Landon Diaz
Well, based on your posts they're a hell of a lot more fun than hanging out with you.
Oliver Lopez
Bare bones right now. It's all pretty generic but I'm sure that will change within the next couple years. Everything I saw after searching for 15 minutes was either pov or orgy stuff
Owen Johnson
> is some endless source of wonder or even remotely comparable to a real VR kit The "real VR kit" 's best content is like a billard simulator and a physics engine / house outfitting game.
Don't make it sound like THESE are an endless source of wonder. It's cool to see what they can do, but there is a distinct "tech demo" feel to the content overall, it's actually not really fancier than a Cardboard.
Plus the Cardboard variant doesn't actually have that much less relevant technology if your phone is good.
Logan Peterson
I have the samsung vr and I found porn really awesome. and some of the travel videos are nice.
I dont know why so much hate but I dont give a fuck I like it.
Matthew Turner
because there is no headtracking it's all static and just looks like 3D movies in the cinema when we get 360 degrees it's when shit's gonna get real
Aaron Garcia
it needs more teens but I loved.
Tyler Bailey
You want one? Get Google cardboard that fits your phone. Even for a millionaire these little pieces of plastic are garbage. Just get the cheaper one since they are all equally poo
Daniel Thompson
how can you call yourself a true gamer without a VR backpack by MSI???
Easton Walker
Cardboard has no head strap and is uncomfortable at best
You can get a headset with padding and head strap for like $10. Can't do much with it but it's still fun if you have a 1440 or better screen
Thomas Butler
I can see this being kinda cool desu
Jace Rodriguez
OH GOD MY 3RD DEGREE BACK BURNS
Andrew Mitchell
Cyberpunk AF man
Liam Williams
None VR without motion tracking is a gimmick Also mobile headsets are apparently getting inside-out tracking soon
William Sullivan
>backpack computer for sim racing vr
Julian Roberts
Wrong, it does.
Kayden Hernandez
Anyone experience Razors VR? Half of Vives price but same specs.
Adam Hughes
Razer has shitty motion tracking and no controllers
Chase Price
cardboard is a meme. just a shitty experience that tires your arms or if you bought a chink cardboard, straps to your fat caucasian skull too tightly and cuts your nose open
Ayden Wilson
>I buy every retarded product just because I have disposable income that I should have used on stocks.
Get OR, Vive, pc upgrade or put it in stocks.
Nolan Richardson
>not spending your money
Almost as dumb as working out so you stay healthy and eventually die of nothing. Fucking lel.
Thomas Edwards
Allahu Akbar!
Brody Brown
I had a couple before getting the Vive. My favorite was bobovr z3 (with headphones taken off since they were horrible)
Carson Peterson
Get a Razer headset. It's open source, upgradable and only costs $299 for basic or $399 comfier version.
Josiah Anderson
I mean this is a pretty obvious step is VR is supposed to go anywhere
Wireless connections will never work as well as a proper one, and being tethered to a stationary pc takes a lot out of the experience
Doesn't look very comfortable though desu
Easton Morgan
>buy cardboard >download v-ridge apps >play pc games with cardboard Done this when I played Elite and it was pretty cool
