I'm going to try using Linux for the first time using a VM. Can you recommend a cheap VM program for a poorfag and which LInux distro should I start out with? I want to get familiar with Linux for a future in the IT field working with servers and stuff like that.

You might get disgusted by the default ubuntu color palette. Try Xubuntu for starters. Also you're not gonna get anywhere if your usage is restricted to virtual machine. Use it only to check if you like the desktop and then install it directly to your computer to force yourself to figure out the environment.

I explained to you why in the last post. When things get hard, you'll see yourself retreating back to your windows installation and to the ways you've always done it. When you swith your whole usage process to linux, you'll keep solving those processes.
