Naming files: underscores or spaces?

Naming files: underscores or spaces?

It's 2016, who cares?

Underscores, you won't need to escape spaces.

camelCase

underscores and dashes.

As far as I know, every modern kernel/filesystem handles spaces just fine, so spaces. It looks nicer and is more convenient to type. Just throw quotes around all directories when using the terminal and it won't be a problem.

>Hitting shift+quote twice when you could just shift+dash once
Aww, first time on a computer user?

>hitting shift+dash three and more times when you could just shift+quote twice

underscores from old habit

Plus signs and the occasional %20 for readability...

camelCase and underscores.

wtf

0 and 1. It's the only way.

I only use this for music files when using the tty only.

Something like this:
The Cucks - Come on baby prep my bull.mp3

Turn into this:
The_Cucks_-_Come_on_baby_prep_my_bull.mp3

Underscores are more A E S T H E T I C, but spaces are better when searching for things.

>shift+quote
Most terminals accept ' as well, so no shift is required. Plus, as the other user pointed out, even if you had to use " it's only less efficient if you have one space in the full path.

>files
Are they holiday photos or kernel source code?

Disgusting

Underscores, because spaces in filenames are just so damn ugly.

kernel source code should be named with a single word you fucking twat

I wish this was a real song tbhfam.

the fuck m8

hell yeah boi

I use dashes (e.g. config-botnet, google-chrome.jpg) except for music files where I do use spaces because it looks better visually (e.g. Richard Stallman - My Interjection.ogg).

Underrated

>tfw RMS will never interject inside you

Underscores on Linux, spaces on Windows.

Let's make our own song, Sup Forums

Don't you mean

Neither,YouFuckingMongol.oid

spaces. shift- requires eyes on the keyboard.

No they don't. Go practice typing more.

To OP I used to used underscores but I've started shifting towards dashes. Spaces never.
