Mine did 4.4ghz on water without too much vcore/vtt 100% stabile, 4.6 was possible, but got hot as hell and only bench stable with too much voltage for me.

3570k here at 4.5gHz. Fucking Intel monopoly. Get your shit together AMD so Intel has a reason to make a new processor. GPUs are advancing so fast I feel like CPUs are going to start bottlenecking games soon.

Just better chipset support. CPU performance hasn't improved much and is only important if you encode or do other CPU intensive tasks.

RAM for current gen can be hit and miss but DDR4 is generally better if you don't mind having a HEDT without issues or a mid range desktop system where Intel Jewed the PCB by making it thin (applying heavy CPU can break the CPU).

Most can get by with your CPU but it is becoming dated and there would be befits from an upgrade.

I can't believe you morons fell for the bending cpu. It was the largest Scythe cooler on earth, applied by power tools, then jostled around. This was one clickbait review website that came out with this story, nowhere else has this been replicated. And Schythe redesigned the mounting bracket so this wouldn't happen again.

I had a X5650 for 2 years, and it's still a good CPU, but I upgraded to pic related since they are very cheap these days.

There isn't one. I kept my Core 2 Quad until just this past summer. That thing was great. Only had to make a new build because the mobo was failing and I couldn't find a used one with enough SATA ports and a decent chipset.

because of power consumption and price. my previous dual socket LGA1366 system consumed too much power, and dual 2670s would draw even more under load.

it's also twice as expensive here in yuropoor. as far as overclocking goes, I prefer stability over minor gains in speed, which is why I run ECC memory as well.

i had the 2670 myself, and judged the 1650 worth the extra £50 for the single threaded perf when my games started stuttering

How did I forget to reply to that? In short, for you idiots pointing out the factory clock rates. You don`t buy a fucking K chip to not overclock it, and a sandy vag chip will achieve just as high of clocks as a skymeme. Clock for clock there`s a 15-20% difference in performance.
