I want official CM14 for OP3 already.

Do they always wait for the stock updates to be out before updating the official builds to newer version?

I just installed CM13 on my honor 5x like an hour ago

holy shit its amazing, so glad I finally did it

How do I into rooting? I can't find a rooter that works with my HTC 520 Desire.

github.com/CyanogenMod/android/tree/cm-14.1

>tfw no cm14 for the s5 yet

>I want an official build for my device
>posts link to cm14.1 github
why

rooting is basically worthless if you're not running a privacy guard (like the one that comes with CyanogenMod)

I would suggest you insatall CyanogenMod before rooting your phone.

The easiest way to do so is downloading the kingoroot app and following the instructions on their website (kingoapp.com/)

>still no xposed for Android 7

6 for me it is.

What do you need from xposed anyway

See, I tried to use Kingo Root (both app and .exe), but neither of them worked.

it only works with android 7.1 nougat

not sure if it's compatible with a op3

???

what did you do?

>tfw no cm12 for s3

It basically said "lolno, your phone's not compatible with this application". It's been a while though, I could give it another shot.

Having cyan ? Sure

But root is a major security risk with little advantages.

adaway and xposed modules are big enough advantages for me personally.

what phone are you trying to install it on?

also you are supposed to have the app on your phone AND the program on your computer, plug your phone into your computer, launch the program, and it'll automatically root it

My phone is rooted, but does not have a custom rom on it
I tried installing a few different custom roms on my S6 edge plus, but nothing worked, so I went back to stock. Still rooted though, and works well.

...

I guess he meant that you should build it yourself

A samsung phone without a custom rom is just a bloated piece of shit

learn how to install custom rom's, it's worth it

my phone cannot be rooted, you twat.

why is CM suporrted so heavily on old phones, yet it takes for fucking every for it to come out as a usable build for newer ones? I'm desperate for a stable build for the z5 compact.

sucks to be you!

it does.

There is a new linux kernel exploit, with poc, using which you can overwrite any file you can read, i guess it works on android too

>his phone never gets updates

Because support in CM depends merely on developers willingly to mantain a device, nobody gives a fuck about the z5 compact therefore it will never see a cm stable build.

>His phone has a privacy guard

Going to be honest. Haven't really felt a need to root a device since like, Galaxy S/S2 days. It's a pain in the ass on a lot of devices, and doesn't really add much, for me anyways. Really just not worth the hassle.

y-you too

looks like someone is developing it on the xda forums
just be patient

>CM13 nightlies + freecyngn
>no GAPPS
>99% free (and libre) and open source apps on it (muh ricing)
>no lag
>battery life for days

nigga damn

rooting is a bitch on most phones
Rowhammer and dirtycow exploits are supposed to work across all linux platfroms, have those been made into an easy to use rooting app already?

>>He still uses a pre-installed OS on his phone
>>His phone is not rooted
Needs camera

It's just a matter of time.

Youtube AdAway (if i don't use it I sometimes get ads)
GravityBox

Time isn't fucking matter

Underrated post

There are cm13 nightlies for my galaxy s3 and I'm running cm12 right now

>13cm
just like me lol

Can't find anything legit to flash my dash X with. The woes of chinacrap.

What's the cheapest current phone supported by Cyanogenmod?

Moto E2 probably.

>smartphones
I thought this was the technology board, not normie central

>using the word "normie" instead of normalfag
Guess you're one.

Anyway, do you really think normalfags will fuck around with alternative firmwares for their phone?

are you rooting your phone so you can play mobile games, you fucking twelve year old?

>tfw device is literally unrootable

that's what i get for buying into the xperia meme

Is your phone "rooted" when you install a custom ROM like CM? Sorry new to smartphones.

Any news on xiaomi realising the redmi 3s kernel source?

CM already has root

I have a Redmi Note 3. Thinking of flashing CM 14 maybe once it becomes stable. Anyone flashed CM on their Redmi?

>he doesnt have a pixel

gimped yourself and using non free hardware and bios, just cucked to the next level Steve jobs

What does rooting have to do with games?

Which Xperia?

No, it's merely attaining privileged control (usually through a security exploit). On Android devices when rooting, you get a superuser app in your app drawer, which allows you to manage the superuser access for apps which require it. All of this can be done on your stock OS, without unlocking your bootloader.

Though to install ROMs, such as CM, you will have to unlock it - certain manufacturers such as Sony and HTC make that really easy - they even encourage people. On others..I have no idea how it is doable, since I've only owned Sony devices. Unlocking the bootloader on most devices is not impossible, though - even if the manufacturer doesn't have an official method.

People use CM (and other third-party firmwares) to update their OS when the manufacturer has dropped support, to run a lighter version of Android for performance gains (though I don't really think that's a problem nowadays), or to customize the hell out of everything. I'm not even covering everything that can be done, but you should be able to get the gist of it.

Why is that a problem? I mean, running proprietary BIOS is problematic, yes, but at least he isn't giving Google his metadata constantly.

Z3+ Dual SIM Version, thing pisses me off desu, but I'm poor and it will take me a while to get a Pixel or something even close to it

The only reason I'm still on stock is because there's a system app that I use. If I could find a proper replacement for it I'd immediately switch to CM.

>not using CM11

Is it possible to use CM without root? I'd quite like to ye my banking apps.

I guess so. It comes out of the box with root access disabled - although I'm 100% sure your banking apps will work.

Sure, just dont activate it

not 100% sure*

>tfw no cm for axon 7

fuck, I also want CM for my Honor 5x, but I'll wait for a stable 14 build

>falling for the Axon 7 meme
I did too, but then I returned it and got the Le Eco Max 2

>CyanogenMod 14.1
What? Where's the announcement for this? All I see is CM13.

>He
>His
kys yourself

>github.com/CyanogenMod/android/tree/cm-14.1

>kill yourself yourself

>female """brains"""

Just bought a HTC 10, literally see no point in doing what you recommend.

Wat?

...

Both those statements are true and I see no problem with it.

>new version of cyanogenmod comes out
>suddenly your s2 can't survive 24 hour without being charged anymore
>could go for 4 full days without charging before
>same shit happened when cyanogenmod 13 came out
I swear to god I'm not making this shit up, android OS is suddenly the highest battery drain where it usually was "Cell standby" since I use it so little. Why do they want me to update to an unstable version this bad? I had to go through the trouble of allocating memory to my system folder when updating to 13 because it was too big for my old s2, I don't want to update anymore.

>Have an Old Moto G from 2013
>Shits slow, Old Android
>Decide to install CM on it
>After some work manage to install it
>Download OpenGApps
>Installation goes smoothly
>Boot it up, fucking fast.
>Dem themes

Fucking Amazing, best thing i've ever done, feels fucking good.

delete this

Redmi note 3 snapdragon

Better wait for stable cm 14. It's too early for experimenting.

>CM13 become barely usable after a year of development
>While it still do have some critical bugs like broken encryption on RN3P
>Android 7 is out
>Fuck this legacy shit. All aboard CM14 hype train.
>No hardware drivers, frequent crashes, bare aosp functionality, no xposed.
>Phone is unusable
>Yay Android 7.1 is out
Even apple do support their shit for at least 5 years.

I could smell the curry coming from this thread all the way from /fit/.

But user my phone came preinstalled with CyanogenMod

What am I supposed to do now

yes let me void the warranty of my new 750 dollar phone

Cant wait for cm14 nighties to begin. Hopefully they get stable builds quicker then cm13 did, it took 6 months before those builds consistently worked.

>Is it possible to use CM without root? I'd quite like to ye my banking apps.

Since CM12 when you install it, at default values CM unroot the phone. You have to manually root before it allows apps to root access the phone.

>He still uses a pre-installed OS on his phone
My phone's stock OS is better than any custom ROM
>His phone is not rooted
Can't root it

spooge

Isn't Dirtycow only x86? It will only work on Intel phones.

>tfw no cm14 for nexus 6p

I sure love making my camera completely useless!
Other than that, Cyanogen is alright.

Open Camera sorta fixes that... but yeah. Camera quality went down the drain.

wish I can root my htc 826. tried king root but it didn't do shit.

This. I can't wait to run CM 14 on that beautiful device

Already running CM14 on mah samshit lagaxy nope 10.1 2014

Why shouldn't I? :^)

cuz you fuckin' stink

kek

>using thr smiley with a carat nose

check the XDA there are a couple unofficial cm 14.1 builds

Wasn't there a bug on some build of CM that disabled calls to 911? Pretty scary desu

reminder that only losers use pajeetmod

So got a new Samsung S7 phone. What are the benefits of rooting+ installing cyanogenmod?
Also warranty pretty much flies out the window the moment you do this does it not?
