What are computer parts that you never cheap out on?

What are computer parts that you never cheap out on?

It's always motherboards and power supplies for me.

Power supply is a given.

Also hard drives.

OS
if it's free, then it isn't worth my time

>hard drives
those are literally what you are supposed to cheap out on

Cute boy

I didn't cheap out on anything.

You can't really fully cheap out on them if you plan on using them for any extended period of time.
You want something that will last but you have to balance it with price point as well.

yeah, server grade OSes are the only thing worth putting on a computer
oh wait

cpu/ram

>tfw too paranoid to cheap on anything
feels bad

I cheap out on everything desu.

>Cheap out on the thing that stores all your data

The most used server OS is paid.
Fourth most used server OS is paid.
Nothing. Mac Pro 2013 does not have this problem or something.

>ram

nigga either it werks or it doesnt. dont spend hundreds of burgerbucks for ebin corsair dominator meme shit.

It is Boxxy

PSU, hard drives/SSD's, motherboard, keyboard, display.

>Calling boxxy a boy

but its not a boy. it is boxxy. newfag.

> relying on a single component.

You need raid anyway so go for cheap disks.

GPU desu.

wow she sure got fat

a good dick, must have a really fast ssd

Power supply
MOBO
SSD

>Power supply
I got a 1000 watt power supply for $80 years ago; on tomshardware it's listed as a "do not buy, replace immediately" model because there's a chance it may explode soon after use. But, if it doesn't explode, then you've got a keeper. Since that day, I've learned that there's no such thing as too cheap.

monitor / keyboard

everything in between is trash i could buy for $30 on craigslist, not even worth fixing

Google, use it retard. There is also this thing called common sense.

???

>get secondhand 750 watt PSU from local electronics recycling place
>use it in my desktop for 6 years.
>one year i was pulling 700 watts continuously (mining buttcoin on 3 6970s)

PSU
CPU
CPU Heatsink & Fan

HDDs

mobos for me, I don't like the idea of spending more than 80 euros on it if I'm not into overclocking things

CPU,VGA,RAM

Yeah, gratis OSes like Windows and OSX suck.
RedHat is the real thing.

Why not cheap out on MB's?
What possible downsides could there be?

I usualy just pick a good brand and go with the cheapest one that supports all my parts.

PSU, mobo, case.

The case makes a very big difference.

I did that with a MSI motherboard at a desperate time in which I decided to tamper with another motherboard that was fairly decent.

After a few months, it keeps having issues detecting UEFI boot entries, only detects them when restoring defaults which is some bullshit I tell you.

I've always cheaped out on motherboards but I'm starting to regret it recently.

My last 2 made my computer act funny, like freezing suddenly overnight.

Wrong thread?

power supply > motherboard > cpu > gpu > ram > ssd > hard drive > case

probably about that order of what I care about most..

All of them.

PSU for obvious reasons.
CPU and motherboard - Easier to sell in future if they are the top of their generation.
RAM - easier to sell if they're the biggest modules of their generation, .e.g 2GB for DDR2, 8GB for DDR3, 16GB for DDR4.
Case - usually last forever
Fans - last forever

Things I cheap out on:
SSD - price is still rapidly falling, new tech is being produced, there's no reason to get premium brands like Samsung or Intel.
HDD - I don't trust HDD regardless of their brands, so I have backups instead.

She's aging like milk.

molex extensions and shit like that (i don't like using them anyway)

I often buy used parts, my current computer is made of used mobo, used cpu, and used gpu. But i'd never buy used PSU, so i guess that's one part i would never cheap out on.

Also, i would never cheap on SSD. It's still new technology, and low-end devices are not to be trusted. It's changing now though.

MOBO: won't cheap out on because can lead to power and system instability down the road.
CPU: dual-core and above is fine.
RAM: depends on what the machine is being used for. Most likely to use name brand value RAM because have had no issues with ram as of late.
PSU: bronze-80 plus or above. no exceptions.
HDD: compare price with reviews to find drive with best price VS. capacity VS. reliability
FANS: High end because I like low noise

sure lad.

You never cheap out on a motherboard, they are after all the lifeline of your computer, but you also never overspend on one either.

I found that $125-$150 is perfect for what I need. I always buy reliable brands like Gigabyte, ASUS, or MSI.

Power supplies are the second most important, just because most power supplies that are great are under $100. Typically I just get something semi-modular, bronze or gold certified and at least 600W. My current is 650W. Oh and also it has to be Corsair or Seasonic, anything else is garbage.

That's about it really. The most expensive thing in any gayming PC though should be your graphics card. Followed by the CPU, motherboard, SSD (He didn't fall for the meme yet), power supply.

The only thing you shouldn't spend over $100 is a case, I can't believe some aspies do this.

GPU always the second best available.

delete this

Bawxxy is so pretty, I want to..

FUCK HER LIKE A SAVAGE

Contain yourself you fat nerd.

>what is cloud

>Just
