Remember in 2012 when everyone was bitching about pic related being killed off in favour of Lightning. Did anyone even actually care for longer than 6 months? Look at it, look at it and tell me that you miss it. It almost feels nostalgic to look at but its only been 4 years.
Stop fucking complaining about USB-C you dumb cunts. Fuck your SD Cards, HDMI, FagSafe, etc.
Nolan Gomez
Nobody was bitching because it was a small change. Stop your damage control.
Nicholas Miller
There is literally nothing wrong with USB-C (except maybe that its not thunderbolt 3) >Fuck your SD Cards this kills the photographer tho
Adam Green
>Fuck your SD Cards
FUCK CHOICE.
Benjamin Rivera
>Stop fucking complaining about USB-C you dumb cunts. The difference is the 30 pin adapter was shit and Lightning is great. MagSafe is great and USB Type C is garbage.
Robert James
>10 years of peripherals useless without le dongal >small change
Nice try fucktard.
Ayden Green
Are we seriously complaining about cables in a post audio jack world?
Ian Martinez
>photography in 2016 >SD Card
Wireless, my friend.
Jordan Perry
>Remember in 2012 when everyone was bitching about pic related being killed off No, only macfags complained. Nobody sane used those clunky connectors... ever.
Henry Wood
Name 1 iPhone peripheral that wasn't useless
Blake Ward
>Right this moment apple are selling their own phone and many other which needs a USB-C adapter to plug into their new laptop. >This adapter doesn't come with the computer and has to be bought seperately
What a cockup
Evan Edwards
Magsafe is the only thing of value that was lost
Andrew Cruz
Why doesn't apple just switch to mirco usb or some other common cable like the rest of the tech industry jesus christ
Nolan Phillips
>mirco usb >not reversible lol okay, have fun with that
Isaac Davis
The only half decent USB connector is A. Everything else is weak trash.
Xavier Young
>>Right this moment apple are selling their own phone and many other which needs a USB-C adapter to plug into their new laptop. you mean a usb-lightning cable.
they sell that.
how do you guys take such an obsession with apple and also remain this clueless?
Michael Nelson
>iPhone connector for all iPhones and iPods from 2007-2012 >only Macfags complained >Mac >iDevice
Were you in a coma or do you just not remember the amount of people who had iPhone 3Gs and iPhone 4s?
Easton Carter
Sup Forums has the memory of a goldfish.
Austin Gray
>do you just not remember the amount of people who had iPhone 3Gs and iPhone 4s? I live in Europe, so no. Most of us use sane devices with microUSB connectors.
Not my fault you burgers are cucked with iPhones.
Brandon Murphy
most americans use devices with microUSB connectors as well.
who told you that iphones were the majority in the US?
Cooper Carter
>Micro USB >sane Crying laughing emoji next to ok emoji.
Elijah Ramirez
Yeah I live in the UK not fucking Estonia like you where people are so poor they didn't have shit at all back then. We're talking about connections for Apple devices only and their compatibility with other things. We're not talking about other kinds of USB connections. You never saw an iPhone because you're basically a 3rd worlder and so your entire argument, if it even quantifies as one and opinion is useless and unwanted. Fuck off. You can post when we're talking about farming equipment or water pumps.
Benjamin Morgan
This thread, apparently.
Justin Smith
I miss it
Mason Scott
People were only bitching because they had to buy all new cables. People are going to continue bitching about the earphone thing because they can no longer use their high quality ear phones and are forced to use expensive bluetooth headphones that get lost within 5 seconds
Ian Cooper
Thunderbolt 3 is the standard for the controller that sits behind the port.
USB-C is the standard for the port itself. The physical interface that you plug shit in to.
USB-C says nothing about what kind of data will flow through, the controller chip dictates that.
Thunderbolt 3 already uses USB-C as it's physical interface. So you cannot have thunderbolt 3 without USB-C. You can however have another controller chip instead, or support multiple chips per interface. So it can support USB 2.0/3.0/3.1 whatever AND thunderbolt 3, or just USB 3.1, or whatever else you want instead.
Kayden Scott
Are you mentally ill? Most Pro level cameras have horrible wireless transfer applications.
Dylan Campbell
is it common in europe to raise such stupid people? this is a thread on Sup Forums. there's nothing generalizable about the people in this thread or this board or this site.
Jose Jones
How do you plan on charging your device without a cable?
Brandon Green
'Pro Level' cameras don't use fucking SD cards. My photographer friend who does this for a living has his camera tethered to an 11" MacBook Air at his studio.
Angel Campbell
>is it common in europe to raise such stupid people? Apparently. Every time someone mentions they're European they're invariably saying the dumbest shit in the thread.
Bentley Cooper
Real Pro Cameras use Compact Flash cards. Last time I've seen a CF slot was in netbook from 2007.
Joseph Miller
Don't they use CFast?
Tyler Turner
most photographers shoot to local media, but you're right about not using SD cards. sports, landscape, etc... photographers all use bodies that take CF and SDXC (or just XQD) cards, and in the cases where the camera takes CF and SDXC (these cameras always have two slots) the setting pros use is usually - RAW files (the ones that can recover some exposure errors, white balance stuff, etc...) to the CF card - JPEG copies (for quick proofing) to the SD card.
one could argue that this slightly slows down the process for photographers doing quick proofing, but an adapter isn't that big a deal for pro photographers. they spend all day carrying several heavy mostly-glass lenses and at least two camera bodies all day every day. carrying a 1oz SD card reader isn't as big a deal as melodramatic drama queens on Sup Forums want it to be.
Jaxon Parker
Look UK, I know you're mad, but most of Europe is now out of the shackles of the Iron Curtain, and even countries like Estonia are rapidly changing for the better. This may bother you, but it's the truth. On the other hand, the UK is full of chavs, shitskin Indians and Pakis, and your empire is gone. You're on your way down. Now go tend to your Dolomite.
The thing is... we have iPhones, but we don't care. We know a luxury item when we see one. Only the equivalent of the average American "Becky" uses iPhones here.
Android phones, on the other hand, come in all shapes and sizes. Cheap, expensive, slow, fast, yada yada... we actually purchase products based on our needs. You purchase ONE SAME TYPE OF PHONE. Think about that, you 1984 fucktard.
Ian Young
CFast is close enough to CF that i would accept if he said he meant CFast, but that's a (relatively-ish) new format. a lot of pro bodies from a generation or two back were using CF. but i would use CF as a catch all term (as i did in ).
Gabriel Myers
The problem im outlining is its not in the box. It doesnt bother me wether its USB-C->USB-a->lightning or usb-C->lightning, the two things cant work together without buying something else.
Jordan Stewart
I was under the impression CFast was not compatible with CF other than being the same form factor.
Ryan Barnes
>The problem im outlining is its not in the box jesus you people are the whiniest, neediest cunts i've ever seen in my life. even genuine macfags are less helpless than you.
Dylan Hall
yeah but CFast is unambiguously the spiritual successor to CF, so if ever an umbrella term could apply, it would be here.
Jeremiah Turner
>'Pro Level' cameras don't use fucking SD cards.
I have an A7RII sitting next to me that disagrees.
Jonathan Torres
He said pro.
Lucas Brown
>buy one of the most expensive phones >buy one of the most expensive laptops >plugs are incompatible
If you think that's okay, then you are delusional.
Zachary Ward
How do i photograph the outside world in a studio? do i just drag a laptop with a cable connected to it around?
Benjamin Jackson
if apple announced in the next 3 or 4 days that they would give you an option of swapping the USB-A cable for a USB-C cable, 80% of the needy bitching on Sup Forums would turn into panicking as a bunch of zealots desperately try to find some other $10 excuse to be outraged.
get over it.
Nicholas Ortiz
>How do i photograph the outside world in a studio? do i just drag a laptop with a cable connected to it around? if you're a pro? you use a CFast card or an XQD card. read the thread.
if you're not a pro, then you're not a pro an who gives a fuck what you do?
Carson Lopez
everyone wants USB-C to be standard
the problem here is that you can't buy a brand new macbook pro and a brand new iphone 7, and expect to use your phone/computer/headphones together out of the box without a bunch of fucking adapters
Jayden Myers
basically this. we all want to transition to better standards but nobody wants the pain of new standards. Sup Forums is ground zero for whiny crybabies (look at the winbaby threads) so all of the childish bitching gravitates here.
Logan Scott
Canon EOS Rebel DSLRs use SD Cards.
Jonathan Bailey
>He said pro.
Arguably one of the best full frame cameras in the world, user.
And you're not hurting my feelings as it's not mine. I've just rented it for a photo shoot.
Jaxson Sanders
rebels are not professional cameras. there are literally at least two tiers above the rebel line before you even get to the gear that canon considers professional.
Alexander Johnson
>Canon EOS Rebel DSLRs use SD Cards. >Rebels >pro it's like i'm being trolled on /p/ but from the comfort of Sup Forums!
Colton Harris
>we all want to transition to better standards Of course we do, the issue is that I can't replace ALL of my devices on a whim. Nobody can. Nobody will. This is why transition time is important.
EOS 5D Mark IV also uses SD cards.
Dominic Walker
>Of course we do, the issue is that I can't replace ALL of my devices on a whim. Nobody can. Nobody will. This is why transition time is important. nobody's forcing you to replace any devices. at worst, you need to replace your cables so that one end has a USB C plug. alternatively, you could get a dock to aggregate all of the USB-A ports and connect that to the computer by USB-C
you guys don't need me to explain this shit to you. don't act like this is shit you need help with. you're not mentally handicapped.
also >EOS 5D Mark IV also uses SD cards. yes, along with CF or CFast or whatever. and pros almost exclusively put their RAW files on the CF card and the relatively junky JPEG files on the SD card. this was discussed earlier in the thread.
Juan Baker
see monoprice for cheap micro-USB to USB-C cables.
unless your plan was to buy all new peripherals when you got your next laptop, you were going to incur a cost for this no matter what at some point anyway. there are a handful of reasonable solutions to this issue though. all this whining just sounds like bitching to hear your own voice.
Dominic Thompson
>everyone wants USB-C to be standard I don't. It's no replacement for some of the actually good connectors like Lightning or MagSafe. It's only a small step up for Thunderbolt because it's reversible, but it still has the small, fragile tongue in the receptacle.
Jackson Howard
Look, I don't really care about the card reader... I care about tons of devices I have which are irreplaceable for the time being. USB-A and HDMI are really prevalent these days.
>you guys don't need me to explain this shit to you. don't act like this is shit you need help with. you're not mentally handicapped. Yeah, sure, you can use an adapter. But here's my issue: they could have included a few USB-A ports without any issues, but they didn't. Why? Because "courage", or, more likely, because Apple wants to slim down their laptops. What I don't understand is why the hell does anyone need to slim down a PRO laptop? Who are they trying to impress?
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not really whining... I won't be purchasing said laptop, that's it. What I am disgusted about is the amount of shilling for these clearly deplorable decisions made by Apple. It wouldn't hurt anybody to include a few extra ports on such an expensive laptop.
Not to mention the lack of function keys. If they did that to their orinary Macbook lineup, it would be understandable, but this is a PRO lineup. Y'all are whining about "pro" DSLRs, and yet Apple shat on that word.
Kayden Barnes
>and pros almost exclusively put their RAW files on the CF card and the relatively junky JPEG files on the SD card. >this was discussed earlier in the thread.
It wasn't discussed. You made the claim. I haven't heard about RAW to one and JPEG to the other. But when I've had a camera with two card slots, I always recorded everything to both for redundancy.
Also lol at pic related.
Jaxon Foster
my 3g still survives on its shit crashes longer than your four week lightning cable ever could
I never pay for repairs, you buy a replacement every month
also headphone jack > accidental porn broadcast to bluetooth
Kayden Lopez
idk what youre triggered by usb-c is fine but the ones on macbook dont have thunderbolt 3 controller chips thats why i said that i know the difference between usb-c and tb3
Benjamin Green
One of the most ignorant comments I've ever seen. What do you mean post-audio jack world? There are like 2-3 phones with no audio jack. The VAST majority of Phones/Laptops/Computers in general have a fucking audio jack you retard.
Jordan Bennett
I still care about the 30 pin being gone
Leo Turner
>Remember in 2012 when everyone was bitching about pic related being killed off in favour of Lightning. Did anyone even actually care for longer than 6 months? Yes. Many people did care for more than 6-months. People whose cars, $4,000+ Hi-Fi systems, and even furniture was now literally missing a feature.
But this was a generally beneficial change. While a lot of accessories were ostracized, it was a leap from a proprietary format to a proprietary format, and 30-pin compatible devices were of a small, specific, subset of all devices out there. 30-pin wasn't a standard or necessary item on most things that it was on.
USB Type-A, however, has been on Macs since the G3, with USB 1.1. A mouse and keyboard from a G3 is 100% compatible with last year's macbooks, plug and play like it's nothing. And same way, you could buy nearly any USB mice today and it would (probably) work with a G3. It's a long-standing standard that has been a Universal constant across devices. That mice and keyboards and cables and more could all plug into and be recognized by these machines (even if drives didn't exist, the device was acknowledged, at least, thanks to the standard). Moving to Type-C connectors only, means the potential for failure has been introduced. Dongles add another potential place for failure. Perhaps some devices may not read correctly thru a dongle to a Type-C connector. And you need a dongle for every device (or a hub), which introduces far more clutter than is necessary or should even be warranted these days.
The new macbooks went from "just works" to "probably works" for many. A mantra they more closely associated with PCs, than Macs.
Dominic Hill
Why do you have such brand loyalty? Why do you do it for free?
Dominic Roberts
It is like I am on /p/!
I thought Sup Forums had better trolls than this.
Adrian Sanders
>The new macbooks went from "just works" to "probably works" for many.
But those people are rich enough not to care about anything so why should anyone not them give a shit?
Kayden Lewis
AAA batteries, dumbass.
Parker Martin
I've had mbps for years and this safety feature was never needed. But it feels satisfying as hell to snap it to your machine.
Caleb Butler
>Android phones, on the other hand, come in all shapes and sizes. Cheap, expensive, slow, fast, yada yada... we actually purchase products based on our needs. You purchase ONE SAME TYPE OF PHONE.
You just pointed out why Android is literal shit. People buy iPhones because they are the best average device to do average tasks well. You're basically trying to make being broke sound better. Nice try.
Asher Harris
It pissed me off at first, then I realized that if you're really a person who uses this for work, you can slip an external high capacity battery bank which can charge your MacBook Pro from any port.
No more wire running across some makeshift office space for power.
Angel Baker
MagSafe is going to be more reliable than USB Type C regardless of if you like the safety aspect of it.
