No, just don't. Buy yourself a pack of razors and slit your wrists instead, make the world a better place.

Posting from a y410p, the 14" version previous generation of that. Ideapads have amazing specs for their price, but the keyboard and screen are total shit. I wouldn't buy this again.

don't do it

>i7 for gaymen
>a fucking 960
>a fucking 960 in the same machine as an i7
>a fucking i7 and a 960 in a machine for gaming

Don't do it.

Mods should delete these threads and ban OP.

Why is that a bad thing? I'm not looking for a crazy set up. Just something I can play new stuff reasonably well on.

Friend of mine bought a y410 and has submitted it for warranty repair three (3) times. The screen isn't even 1080, the graphics driver support is beyond trash, and did I mention that he sent it back three times in the course of the first year he owned it? There are many memes to fall for, and this one is the fuckin worst.

In short, you will not need an i7 to max out any game on the market right now unless you're a crazy motherfucker who demands 60fps from optimization abominations like Arma3, and the 960 is a complete piece of shit which will have trouble keeping up with any new title.

You're paying premium for a way too good cpu while suffering a shitty gpu that bottlenecks the whole system.

laptop i7s are kind of necessary for gaming as laptop i5s are only dual core processors

Except that you will struggle to run ANY new AAA game. Your hardware will be thermally throttled to hell and will never reach it's fullest potential.

only ULV ones are dual core

My 4700MQ and 755M easily handle DOOM on medium/high at 1600x900.

Recently got one and its pretty fucking good, dont forget to get a cooling pad unless you want it to fry, pic related the specs

>he fell for the 1060 meme
>not waiting for razer blade sized 1050 laptops

This is wrong, all laptop Core i5 processors are dual core CPUs with hyperthreading. Core i7s are available in dual core and quad core variants for laptops.

Alienware
Razer
MSI

>razer

top bait m8, not buying overpriced shit

>m-m-muh waiting
Wait for 1080! Wait for 1080ti! Wait for ZEN! Wait for 7th Generation intel chips, don't buy as soon as it comes out though, cause it might have defective hardware cause it hasn't been sort out yet! Wait for the software drivers to mature before buying!

A worthwhile gaming laptop starts at about $1500. Personally, I use Asus. Reportedly, MSI is also okay. They make fatter, heavier, and more expensive machines.

What about this one?

Sorry im retarded

>all i7s are uber powerful

Stop being a retard. Laptop """i7s""" range from practically desktop i3 level to much higher.

>Laptop """i7s""" range from practically desktop i3 level to much higher.
This, some of the higher TDP ones could honestly play any game out (if they had better video cards paired with them) without issues but the lower wattage ones like used in ultrabooks / ultra-portables like the 13" MacBook Pro are glorified Core i3s with extra L3 cache.

cheers

This is 1k right now on Newegg for a 980M laptop.
I haven't seen a laptop any cheaper right now.

Worth the shot or you think later this week there will be a better deal?

My $1000 Lenovo broke a month after warranty, and they wouldn't renew it.

3 years warranty?

And my lenovo y510 p is still working fine after 3 years of using it

One year warranty.

this is only really true for "U" series processors

I have a Y700 and I wouldn't recommend it. It costed me around £1000 with some upgrades (I bought it from Eastern Europe so it was a better deal than what you would get in the UK) and it's just not good value for money quality-wise. The stats look good on paper, yes, but the plastic feels so... cheap. It's really fragile and makes squeaking sounds when you open/close the screen or press the plastic at some place.

I also have a T420 that costed £150 and is build like a tank - I can hold it by the corner of the screen and feel confident nothing will bend.

Unless you have a specific reason like being a student that can't commit to a desktop, not having a permanent home or need a strong GPU for math processing in Starbucks and libraries - I'd advise against 'gaming' laptops.

If you play games, the parts will overheat and it will die in 3-4 years anyway.

I have that laptop for a little over an year now, it has worked excellent for me.
Played all the games I wanted on medium quality, no hardware problems
It never overheated and I lived in Arizona, didn't need any cooling pads.

It does it's job and I like it because it is thin compared to other gaming laptops

Avoid it like the fucking plague. Lenovo has done all they can to make sure any sort of repairs/upgrades are as difficult as possible and will likely cause damage.

I'd go for it, that's pretty decent, and it doesn't have the issues that the newer Asus laptops have which are that there are no drivers for anything other than Win10

I'd also recommend seeing if amazon or someone else has it. Jewegg will fight you tooth and nail if you have any issues.
