I wouldn't try and create a distro, but really just make myself something minimal. You could tell me to use CRUX, sta.li, migrate to FreeBSD, OpenBSD, etc., but I want to build it from scratch so I understand what's going on, especially when there's a crash.

So today I wondered what I could do when I have a low upload speed on this particular internet connection over here and need to upload a 10 hour long, roughly 55GB large YouTube video.
This oogabooga connection doesn't support seamless IP changes without reconnection, there is a short disconnect every 24 hours and uploading that would definitely take longer than 24 hours..

The other time round I went into my Downloads folder and found some Nightcore song called tqrsus.flac. Which is weird because I don't usually listen to Nightcore and other than that I do not recall downloading that.

Have you tried that already? I know that 7 and 8.1 sometimes crash when you don't have at least 400 MB free, is that still the case?

I haven't tried it because I don't want an unstable system, I wouldn't be surprised if it still happens because you need something to fall back on when you're out of memory and that is normally the disk, if you take that away it can be unstable if you use most/all the memory.

I do the opposite, I span the page file across all my disks, letting Windows manage the size.

Maybe there's some vram thing you can do, set some kind of soft limit for applications leaving some reserved for the system, I don't know if that's possible though, haven't looked into such a thing.

You should always have a pagefile if you can, the system relies on it as a fallback and may use it for other things anyway even if you're not filling your RAM.

I can't see any downside to using the pagefile outside of some disk usage, potential instability when not using one is a big downside imo, even if it is unlikely. If it works for you now though and you don't want a pagefile then I guess keep doing it. You should do some research on it yourself if you're interested, I'm not too familiar with Windows memory management, I'm especially ignorant of any recent changes outside of the compression I linked, maybe it's not actually needed anymore in 10, I wouldn't know.
