Internet Privacy

According to this news article, the Prime Minister we weren't allowed to vote for has decided that the government should be allowed to access any citizen's lifetime internet history.

>belfasttelegraph.co.uk/technology/your-entire-internet-history-to-be-viewable-by-psni-taxman-dwp-and-food-standards-agency-and-other-government-bodies-within-weeks-35242522.html

It says that the government can do this by accessing someone's "Internet connection record".

What is an ICR, how do they work, and how can I evade mine? A VPN should work, shouldn't it?

The real question is does this start from now or a year ago? Also will they definitely only be up to a year or will they really keep the history indefinitely

This is the most ridiculous shit

I assumed they already had a log of all our sites though

>belfast
I think that's a good punishment for ungrateful Nothern Irishmen.

>the Prime Minister we weren't allowed to vote for
you'd rather have Cameron and a million rapefugees than authorities keeping the upper hand of terrorists?

>implying this won't end up just getting used to check if you visited job websites by the dole and your dole officer giving you penalties for all the porn sites you've been visiting

ICRs will be date stamped IP and domain records of everything you connect to. This isn't being retained in a secure government datacentre but by companies like Talk Talk who have been pwnd by skiddies 3 times in the last 5 years. Rule Britannia...

The fucking FOOD STANDARDS AGENCY gets to see our browsing history.

Please someone give me a summary of VPN options.

>The fucking FOOD STANDARDS AGENCY gets to see our browsing history.
which isn't a problem unless you're a pedophile or a terrorist in which case, fuck off

No a VPN won't work because this is your service provider storing the information.

They will be sandwiched between you and your silly vpn.

>britbongs

That's the point genius. Your ISP will only ever see you connect to the vpn.

Any respectable VPN provider offers defaults to encrypted traffic. All they can see is that he accessed his VPN but not what he used it for

"The UK is about to become one of the world’s foremost surveillance states, allowing its police and intelligence agencies to spy on its own people to a degree that is unprecedented for a democracy. The UN’s privacy chief has called the situation "worse than scary." Edward Snowden says it’s simply "the most extreme surveillance in the history of western democracy."

get fucked britbongs

Buy a vps and use an internet through that.

>I love dicks up my ass because those stupid fucks I don't like don't like dicks up their asses! Point at them and laugh!

>I have nothing to hide therefore spying is okay!
