Anyone tried gentoo with musl?

how can i get a gf who lives the gentoo lifestyle

I use it when compiling C in emacs. Do you mean using it with portage?

Does anyone use Gentoo as an everyday desktop OS?

I've been using Arch for 2 years and thinking of completely replacing it with gentoo
I don't do anything other than using mpv / console emulators / web browsing

Yes I mean with portage wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Hardened_musl
how often will compilation fail using musl?

Thanks for this general.

Does adding cpu-specific use flags actually make a significant difference?

Also what is the best init system to use with Gentoo?

And do Gentoofags play the vidya?

Senpai/s? Is the Gentoo comfy or autist-tier?

I use it on my memepad which I use for most things and have a wangblows desktop for other stuff. You definitely can use it as an everyday desktop OS
Wouldn't mess with it. Gentoo Hardened isn't even still active and it would only be marginally better than the gnu c lib
>Does adding cpu-specific use flags actually make a significant difference?
It can, yes. Some packages require you to change cpu-specific use flags as well.
>Also what is the best init system to use with Gentoo?
OpenRC
>And do Gentoofags play the vidya?
Sure
Comfy

I've been using gentoo for the last 11 months, can't complain.
If you want to customize your distro down to the comple flags. or you need to squeeze the last drop of perfomance of your computer. or if you're a developer, then gentoo might be usefull to you.

Ututo is dead as fuck, what are your thoughts on using only free software enforced by "accept licenses" and the "deblob" USE flag for the kernel?

Do you think the fsf's position on distributions which allow you to run only free software but don't require it is sort of like selling a gun without a firing pin instead of just counting on you to handle it safely?

Short version: all of the fsf's recommended distributions are fucking dead except for Parabola.

Letting any fsf distro have non-free software would destroy the purpose of a free software distro. There is a reason why they are all dying out.

>"deblob" USE flag for the kernel
As far as I know deblob was removed to most (don't know if now all) Linux kernels because of some issues with the deblob script.
Might be added again if linux-libre fix their shit

>Does anyone use Gentoo as an everyday desktop OS?
yee. it just werks

You can still apply the script manually

...

Ah yes, just figured that out.

That would be an option but a pain every time it's time to update the kernel.

If you use gnome or kde, then yes, updating is a pain in the neck

>"Until that issue is solved by us doing some svn checking, or them by adding a version number when they update the script, then the deblob support for vanilla or gentoo-sources stays removed."
bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=537132#c14
So the only thing you can do is contact the linux-libre people and tell them that if they update an script, they have to bump the version number.

Don't use OpenRC.
Systemd is better, faster, and you will run into less problems.

I've been using Gentoo on my desktop machine for 8 years. It works fine. The Portage overlays do not cover as many packages as the AUR though, but they should be sufficient for most purposes.

Filtered

Bummer.

This. Anybody coming to Gentoo to escape systemd should just accept their fates as closet BSD hipsters.

>Short version: all of the fsf's recommended distributions are fucking dead except for Parabola.
GuixSD has very active devlopment. Trisquel and gNewSense are still reasonably active.

Isn't gNewSense based on Wheezy? And trisquel's last release was two years ago?

Gentoo's pretty sexy once you get it configured right.

Yes, but they both have recent commits in their repos.

I think it's still in hardened-sources

Thanks-o.

C-can I join in?

Any decent guide on kernel optimization?

>virtualbox
>1 minute

there is a project about Clang+musl

Who /LibreSSL/ here?

Protip you can't

Just run void instead, my guy

Very comfy

What compiler does Gentoo use by default? And can it be changed to something like LLVM?

agree, I use lfs as a base but still go with systemd

you are going to have to if you want to install ffmpeg (and some other stuff)

gcc 4.8.2 or something
yeah, but I think you will run into problems 100%
they have an article on the wiki

t. red hat cuck

never had a real problem with openrc.
i have been using it for years.

That's a bit old, why don't they use new shit if they're all about performance?

If you're still afraid of Gentoo perhaps try Sabayon.
It's like Manjaro/Antergos for Arch.

Gentoo is a rolling release so there is no "default". The newest stable keyworded gcc is 4.9.3 and both 5.4.* and 6.2.* are availabe in the tree as well to play with

How about you just live your life and not torture yourself on a daily basis? One lifetime is not enough for Gentoo optimization.

What do you use it for? Never heard of calculate linux.
