Can someone please explain this difference to me?

can someone please explain this difference to me?

why would someone spend $100 more on an external ssd (samsung t3 1TB for $350)
>vs
just buying a samsung 850 EVO 1TB SSD (for $250) and buying a $13 adapter for it? (PCI 3 to USB)

Cause people are dumb

ugh another desktop shitter clogging up the board

bump

>samsung t3
>USB 3.1 vs USB 3.0
It's faster overall. That's about it.

The same reason people buy Macs: Idiocy

it can't be that simple..... can it?

I can't work out why anyone in their right mind would want an external SSD. They cost a heap more and offer no advantage except bragging rights. The USB interface is the bottleneck and it can be saturated by a SATA3 drive.

>USB 3.1 - 10gbps
>SATA3 - 6gbps
hmmm

Why do SSD's have so much unnecessary casing?

so you can mount it in the hdd spot?

So they can fit inside laptops without coming loose since they were designed to hold drives that size.

m.2 was kind of the answer to this issue

Because it is a standard form factor.

it could be chopped in half at this line and work perfectly. It'd still fit into a laptop's harddrive bay and could be secured with a single mounting screw.

Less hassle for normies.

SSD 4K/small file writes is many tens of times faster than HDD or USB flash.
SSD is also less prone to failures.

you still have to mount additional shit with it to fit it in the HDD slot

Why? All you do is removing compatibility with slide in bays. Why is this even an issue to you? Can't fit it into your butt?

Rather because you can shake an ssd around, make it fall a dozen times and it'll still work, while hdds are extremely sensitive to shock

That's why they made m.2 ssds, sonny.

>Laptop

ahahahahahaha

oh wait you're serious

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Where to get a quality adapter?
