Mi5

any reason to upgrade from the Nexus 5 besides battery (and the fact its EOL now) ?

Feel like there is no more middle-priced phones around 400-500USD and the majority of features have been memes

The only good things that would come out of an upgrade would be:
-water and dust resistance
-larger screen (with very little other benefit in screen tech)
-better battery life

A phone that comes close to that is going to be in the 700USD+ mark. Really doesn't seem like a worthwile upgrade.

Is there any reason to get a Zenfone 3 deluxe over a OnePlus 3T. The only thing I really see is the camera, and that I like ZenUI, other than that it's shitload more economical to get OnePlus comparatively for specs.

Why not zuk z2 pro or 1+3t or mi5s?

They're all pretty big upgrades without costing a fuckload

150 dollar phone for the US?
Currently looking at the Blu life one x2.
Has a 1080p screen, decent battery and a fingerprint scanner. It seems to be the best phone to get ASAP.

Any other suggestions?

>tfw you buy a Moto G4 32 GB for only 175 burgerbucks

Zuk z2 or a LeEco for you Mr Satan

eh, rather get a US """flagship""" device because I just want to ride out support for the longest time possible.

I'll trade high end specs for long mainstream OS support. I've stopped being a mobile power user long ago. Currently run stock root with UI customization and don't want to fuck around with roms or have any trouble with the phone that I have to learn Chinese to fix

gonna ask again, this time with an attention grabbing image.
how's the xiaomi redmi 4 prime (not the note version)? anyone has it? been thinking about buying it, but I'm afraid it doesn't have rom support yet.
should I just buy a RN3P?

>dat Lamy Safari

are there good phones with amoled/oled screens besides samsung ones

OnePlus has pretty good OS support and for a few dollars more you can get added protection that includes if you go retard mode and drop it in your toilet for 18/24 months

>Deal: Moto G4 Plus, G4 and G Play available at discount of $50, $20 and $20 resp.
motorola.com/us/software-and-apps/android

Any other good black Friday deals??

Sounds like the nexus 5 is still an ideal device for you.

I think I qualify for the option of trading in my galaxy s5 for an lg v20 with t mobile. plan on joining my brother's one plus plan. should i do it? lg v20 are the best phones currently out, right?

When will you fucks stop recommending cheap Chinese trash?

Axon 7 for $350
Honor 8 for $240
Xperia X Compact for $370
HTC 10 for $500

Looking for a smaller phone with decent long term support. Need an upgrade from my POS Zenfone 2.

Shut up dumb Yankee pig.

>he thinks phones are made somewhere other than China

Also, is the Zuk 2 decent on T-mobile? It's missing a couple bands.

When they actually start being trash :^)

So, is the Pixel any good or just a $800 fashion accessory?

was considering it
I would say that brand is the continuation of the price:performance ratio of the now gone Nexus line. Definitely good mainstream hardware. Hope the company focuses on one flagship line that it can support for longer instead of fragmenting its line and fading into obscurity.

Doesnt have 6GB of RAM. Its trash.

I would stick to it without bitching here if it wasn't for a mobile network connectivity issue that I can not seem to fix (reflashed older bands, tried factory resets, with no help). There is no fucking way that it's a coincidence that my N5 was working fine since my release day purchase and all the sudden has mysterious connectivity issues right after the EOL date

waste of money, the 6P is close to the same. No difference in specs makes it worth it over the Pixel.

>He skips over the word "trash"
I'm pretending to be smart xdd

What actual feature are you waiting for until you upgrade?

I want a reasonably priced (500-650USD) OLED phone, 5.5 in, with certified water resistance. It's going to be a while isn't it?

get a 6P, Pixel is a fucking meme and it's like Google is trying to hard to fail.

>he thinks they are not made from the same parts and factories as Samsung and Apple etc.

So you want a S7 Edge?

Recieved it a few days ago, already have xiaomi.eu running, so far so good

How long did you wait for unlock permission?

Rather not have to pay out the ass to have the privilege of debloating my Samshit from day 1 and waiting for Samsung to bless me with an update three years after official release. Also, doesn't Amoled still need time to mature? Aren't there still quality problems with even the newest highest grade panels?

Dude just flash purity rom lmao.

Name 3 smartphones not made in China that have 6GB ram.

>Dude just flash purity rom lmao.
yup, that's the next step. Is that the best ROM for the 5? I haven't fucked with ROMs since the Galaxy Shit 2.

Thing is, I really want it but I also feel shitty about upgrading so soon.

It's just me being autistic I guess.

Also, what are some similar priced phones with good Cameras and battery life?

Zuk z2 pro seems to get 6-8 hours depending on where you check.

Samsung are actually good with updates now, nougat is due out in a few weeks.
AMOLED is plenty mature as long as it's not b-grade gentile shit like in op3.

I don't know whether to ask this here or in /sqt/, but I have a Sony Xperia M4, and it's complaining that internal storage is getting full. I've only put a few songs and pictures on it; most of the storage is just shitty apps I can't delete that came with the phone. However, my phone is charging from my PC now and I'm looking at all the internal storage folders, and I wonder: are the apps stored in one of those folders? Can I just delete them this way?

>Pixel XL and Ishit 7 Plus are both exactly 769 USD MSRP

I fucking love this meme. Google now thinks it's in the same realm as the ifashion accessory that has years of master marketing under its belt.

I'm going to go ahead and dump my consumertard blogpost here:

was seriously considering an ishit until I saw what the 7 had come to be.

I have used Android for a long time and dev subsidized lines like the Nexus were a good value since they had good hardware and the largest degree of customization and software optimization

I liked Android at that point because I used my phone for media consumption and an array of other things that required fine grain control. It was also cheap and had decent hardware.

Presently I have stopped using my phone for media consumption and heavy internet browsing. I find myself dependent mostly on the stock features of the phone.

I stopped having a need for various levels of adblocking, an open file system, UI tweaking etc (things Android was perfect for)

I value a consistent UI and a non fragmented software release community and don't mind paying a bit extra. Since the Nexus line is gone there isn't much choice left for price:performance in the Android ecosystem unless you get some obscure gookphone and anyone that leaves the basement more than once a month doesn't want to deal with that.

From the freedom perspective:
Phones are proprietary tracking devices so from that perspective Android is the same as Apple. Actually, Apple has gained more respect in my eyes with the recent hard stance the company took, especially compared to Google, which has no regard for its users.

I was seriously considering an iphone but Apple seems to be going in a completely wrong direction after the iphone 5. Removal of the jack, no matter how much COURAGE it took was a stupid move for a market that is not ready. Not including the new wireless technology with your 700USD+ imeme is an insult to the consumer (it's like Apple wants to see just how much they can abuse their customers). Another thing is the lack of a quality display on the phone and the lack of good battery life (although shit battery life has been a standard feature on the iphone)

tl;dr I would have gotten an ishit if they didn't actually remove features from it

Pretty fast, 2 maybe 3 days. You can do it while waiting for the Phone to arrive, Just write something decent when they ask for the reason

Just letting you know your post was pure autism.

welcome to gee

Seriously guys, I'm more of a programmer/Linux autist and I don't know very much about smartphones (this will be my first one). As an American, what are some objectively good phones around $200? I'm open to the chinkphones but will they really work on AT&T or will I be fucked?

Yeah I applied 3 days ago and have my phone now, still nothing. Hopefully won't take too long.

Opinions on the Xperia X compact?

Zuk z2.

It's shit

Low end specs at mid-high end prices. Fuck Sony X series, it's awful.

It's great for the price

name a better sub 5.2" phone

Zuk z2

Z5 compact

galaxy s7
Xiaomi mi 5

Poorfag me got a free Moto G 2nd gen as a gift. Should I root it and install Nougat or just stick with Marshmallow? Only asking since I had some issues in the past with CM being really buggy.

zuk z2 is 400 fucking €, no chinkie is worth that amount of money

Where the fuck are you looking? It's 280 aud online here.

Mi5.

Is it just one guy trying to bash Chinese manufactured phones ITT?
Does he not realise there's no such thing as a smartphone not made in China?
Is he getting paid for it?

What is the better meme iOS or Android?

Why does Lenovo say "the Zuk is just for China"? What does that mean for American usage?

Root and install official builds of CM on it, iirc theyre up to 13.1 in stable releases.

Never had a problem with official CM being buggy except on a chinkphone with fingerprint scan that refused to work, and even then it fixed itself after installing Xposed and a week of use.

Where do you live? Moto G4 and G4 Play are half price just about everywhere and they're pretty fucking good for their price, I snagged a G Play for ~100 dollars and it's much better than my old-ish Note 4 even though it's vastly less powerful, must be lagwizz' fault.

13.1 is just Marshmallow isn't it? What would be the point?

I had a Moto E before and it served me just fine but I got this for free. I don't feel the need for anything better except for maybe Daydream support but none of the flagships have interested me much at all to bother.

That you have to order online instead of through a local phone shop.

>Where the fuck are you looking
everywhere

What's a good email client for Android? The one I used became a subscription one.

Sounds like trash
Albeit I buy used and got my 16gb for $80 cdn

Disadvantages of N are: no Xposed, roms still in beta, no root on some phones, it has no real advantages over M sans some cosmetic changes unless your phone is a $799 flagship, case in point, my phone will get the nougat upgrade in February at worst but there is no reason to upgrade as all I get is forced doze (something I already have with greenify and Xposed) and a prettier status bar, meanwhile I lose a fuckload of things.

CM 13.1 is marshmallow yes, but the official builds are optimized for your phone, you won't get something like this out of a pajeet "bugs: you tell me :)" nougat cm14 rom.

Also correct me if I'm wrong but every moto g2 got stuck on L 5.0, didn't even get L 5.1 or M.

Phone died so I'm looking for a new one, tmobile, budget is flexible (prefer under $400), but it has to have a physical keyboard. Priv is the only phone I'm aware of, but I'm also willing to use a keyboard case or other kind of addon keyboard on a different phone if the keyboard is any good.

My main issue with the priv is the lack of rooting, am I right to be concerned about that?

I got it with Marshmallow installed. Wiki says that's the latest ver.

>but the official builds are optimized for your phone

But what's the point of going CM over AOSP?

I'll probably stick with stock now and try CM14 once it's stable and developed then.

s.aliexpress.com/q6Z7BRfE

Fucking idiot.

You can opt out of Google apps for F-Droid, MicroG and ApkTrack, gapps is a real battery drainer, I've used mine for an entire day without charging and it still has ~20% or so of battery left, couple that with turbocharge (one hour for 0% to 100%) and it's insane how much this thing lasts.

There's also customizing your status bar with the toggles, screen density, turning on hidden LEDs etc, all the little overlooked features of CM that stock android doesn't have.

Alright you convinced me. I'll give it a shot.

That's not pro meaning it doesn't have lte 20 meaning it doesnt work in fucking europe so get aids and rot, nigger cunt

Pro?

Calm down Francis

Any iPhone users here?

i use swiftkey and chrome. used to use dolphin.

Still using my 6, waiting to see what happens with the 8 or if it's time to make the switch to android.

No, but I do miss my iPod touch 4g, especially ios 5.

I followed user's suggestions of switching to google keyboard

I use TouchPal 5.7.8.8, everything after that is an ad ridden mess.
It's the only good gesture keyboard out there unfortunately ;_;

it's a fucking disgrace to the compact line. Z3 Compact was god tier, Z5 Compact was good (despite some overheating issues if you tried to record 4k video or play shit video games). This is low specs, no water proof, feels cheaper all around. It's like a compact cheap version of the X instead of being a proper compact of the ZX which is the flagship.

will an axon 7 mini be able to screen cast with a blu-ray player? If I'm correct in this, Wifi Direct is what lets you do this, and it has that.

>blu-ray
It's almost 2017, isn't it?

I've been considering switching to iOS. I kinda want something that just works and iMessage is very prevalent where I live

considering similar, plus op3t. so far i've heard the axon 7 is fine on tmob. do you know about the others?

>dolphin
enjoy having all of your information sold

>Xperia X Compact for $370
forget it. It's not worth that much, it's the same or worst than a Z5 Compact in every aspect.

I started with android, went though the whole swapping roms, rooting stuff but in the end I always had something buggy that would be irritating. Priorities change and I wanted something that just worked and got reliable updates, went to iPhone and haven't looked back.

Any good less than $140 phone?

I'm thinking of either RN3P 2GB or K6000 Pro or probably a Le 2 X520 or Mi4c or Xperia Z1 Compact.

>switched to systemless root
>didn't know I had to tick a checkbox in Adaway
>keep getting update errors
fuck

Le 2 x520 or k6000 pro would be my recommendations. Don't settle for less than 3GB ram, it's almost 2017 and with 6GB flagships already mainstream, ram requirements are going to skyrocket.

Same, however I started off with iOS, iPhone 3gs, but mostly an Android guy. On Nexus 6p atm. I think I'm at that point where my priorities have changed and the little things of iOS keep attracting me, I might go back.

do you think 4 gb ram isn't worth it at this point?
about to pick up a phone for around 350 with 4 gb ram.

3GB and up should be fine imo, but 2GB just won't cut it for long.

Especially with an already bloated Android rom like miui.

I usually have ~400-600MB free on my k6000 pro and I multitask quite a bit. My nexus 5 was only 2GB and apps would close all the time on android 5.1 and up and reopen when I pulled them from my recents.

Honor 5X or Moto G Plus?

The reason I've stayed are better quality apps, iMessage, and find my phone which helps keep track of my kid and even got the phone recovered when
some kid stole it out of her backpack on the bus. But most of all everything works as it should and I dont have to spend time trying to make it work, I don't have time and am willing to accept the limitations.
