Is OLED stagnating as a technology?

Is OLED stagnating as a technology?

You used to hear how it was gonna completely replace LCD but OLED TVs are rare and we just barely got like 2 LED laptops recently.

they gonna milk that obsolete LCD tech as long as possible.
OLED is so fucking superior in every category it's not even funny

except price

Oled vita owner here.

Feels gudmane

OLED? Whats an OLED?
Buy a new Quantum Dot display, they're the newest thing.

I want that OLED Yoga so fucking bad.

dumb frog poster

Except wearing. It's worst then ssd wearing was.

Not really.

That only becomes an issue if used for like security monitors which are on 24/7

Except LCD isn't obsolete and it will be IGZO that decides where display tech goes.

My phone has burn in.

Its funny since oled is cheaper to produce than lcd

LG sells OLED TVs

by what sense do you mean "rare"?

then why arent companies en masse making devices with them faglord?

oled a shit and a guy in my local newspaper made a big deal out of lg refusing to address burn-in on their oled top models after he wasted 5000 dollars

wouldn't the taskbar eventually burn into your screen

Not unless you left the screen on for days unchanging.

t. oled shill

fucking awesome screen. High five famalan

You think small.

For now

Windows 10

DISGUSTING

Any half decent screen firmware has anti burn in measures.

Kikes

It's organic, what did you expect?

a shame tossing 4000 dollars at LG doesnt qualify as "half decent"

Only LG produces OLED tv's right now. A good 30% more expensive than comprable LED models.

>Quantum Dot

I feel like this could be another Samsung meme.

>the year is 2016
>over half of laptops released this year are still 768p TN or have that option

I can't wait for OLED to spread.

>>the year is 2016
>>over half of laptops released this year are still 768p TN
Widescreen laptops was a mistake.

>On holiday
>Flatmates ask if they can play some disney movies on my 50ST60
>Sure, if it doesn't have any watermarks

>Had watermarks
I moved out. It's pedantic but I had to do it.

That's kinda what people on Sup Forums do. I bet the browser would probably get burned in too.

moot is OLED

t. retard
There's a reason why CRTs had screen savers.

Why the fuck can't they sell a thick thinkpad with that screen
it would be perfection

he meant OLED computer monitors for the consumers cheap
name one OLED monitor that costs less than $800

>OLED is so fucking superior in every category it's not even funny

no, it's pretty fucking funny

DELET THIS

looks like navigation stuff
no wonder that shit burned, hours of static, bright images

which is the reality of screen usage, asshole

>you're using it wrong

>browser
>title bars
>scrollbars
>taskbars
These common things will ruin your OLED screen pretty damn fast.

Because there were shitty CRTs too. My Sharp never had this problem no matter how long it showed the same pic.

Name 1 OLED that solved
>blue colour issue
>not "burn" in

It's not market ready and never will be.

You have to admit that there is nothing comparable to the black of organic LED displays right now.

Sure, they have problems like bad brightness and usually higher latency like TFTs, but the viewing angles and blacks make it worth it.

I can't wait for more organic LEDs to pop everywhere. I've had the Moto Droid Razr, Note 1 and Note 2, all with (S-)AMOLED and those displays really convinced me.

The Apple MacBook Pro with Retina Display doesn't have this problem.

this

>a broken Chinese tablet is OLED's trick up its sleeve

>Apple MacBook Pro with Retina Display
>not the Apple 15 (Fifteen) inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display and TouchBar
Get a job, poorfag.

>OLED stagnating as a technology?
No. Price and other quality concerns need to be addressed slowly and steadily. It's not like panel fabs are just going to quit developing LCD as long as they have the factories invested.
As is OLED and LCD displays have their own inherent advantages.

>ssd wearing was.
It's worse now that than it used to be. Shrinking the flash cells and allocating extra bit states dramatically decreases wear life. The move to 3 bit states and away from 1 and 2 bit flash makes it worse, wear leveling or not.

The TFT backplane material is important, and the consistency and the minimal leak voltage is very nice and all, but IGZO isn't spearheading a revolution in image quality.

Waiting on QD-LED?
The main use so far is just color filters.

it just takes time. early adopters have to make the initial investment first then tech affordability trickles down to the rest of you.
