How are these books? Are they useful to beginner/intermediates?Are they all worth 15$ or is the 8$ tier enough?

The $15 tier books look like they actually contain useful information

The $1 tier could be $15 and it would still be worth it. Just buy them and give the extra $7 to EFF. And yes, the final tier books are also worth getting.

this even the 8$ more are worth it if you actually use those tools

>buying proprietary guides for libre software
were you born retarded or simply adopt the mindset?

Get all of it
Don't tell you're poor?

You think someone who knows nothing about computers could read this and become a god after they're done reading?

Any way books on screen is shit if you don't have an e-reader

looks like something tangable

Sure, thats how you become an expert, by reading books from 2002 about configuring samba on Solaris 5.0

Literally what I administer at work.

Most of those tools didn't change so much since 2002

most of the topics in this list don't change much/at all.
... of course that means, in turn, it's also easy to find free information online instead of buying this.

if you buy this you'll probably read halfway through 3 of them and still use google for all your questions as they come up during use.
The shotgun approach doesn't work, buy a book if you have a specific thing you want to learn more about in depth.

>Caring more about the license than the utility
Doomsday you will get a job and learn to be productive

Bought em

Cheers OP

well he is running a FREE OS. What do you think?

All of them? Could you share them in both PDF and ePUB formats pretty please?

Why buy a book when you have search engines and public forums?

kys

Dude 15$ is not that much. Just buy them if you want them.

Any Vim book besides pic related, is trash.

Don't you know about libgen?

Some people do learn better by books, I know I seem to grasp concepts easier if I'm reading on a physical book while taking notes. I dunno why, maybe I'm just autistic.

linux-training.be/

Oh ok. I personally learn best by trial and error and by working on a project.

Nice.

Based on what? Are you telling me you read every vim book you autistic retard?

I spent all my good boy points on tendies, though.

Who do i give the money to? Oreily, (((code for america))), or humble tip? Or just split it even?

Most of them haven't changed since the 80s or even 70s...

None of those, especially not (((humble tip))), they are all jews. It will let you pick your own charity. Give it all to the EFF or something.

that girl is very hot

what a qt

Are the $15 good starting points? Whats the license for these books?

UNIX In a nutshell

908 pages

Enjoy reading

>he doesn't read

I bought the 15$ one to learn how to do better thing than just «echo "my thing" > SOMEFILE» but damn how can you learn 900 pages, called «in a nutshell»

Who's that fluid druid?

Anyone know anything about that TCP/IP book? I've written a few things on top of sockets before but I've always quested if I've been doing things properly, just because what I did works doesn't mean it's done well. Would this book help me bolster up in the area of programming networked applications?

Chitose Karasuma. She deserves countless cocks.

just start doing shit thats how u learn

>actually wanting to maintain your "sekret club xD"
This is why nobody takes freetards seriously.

The tools/theory hasn't changed that much in 10-20 years. Heck, most of the core aspects of TCP are from the late 1970s.

>too poor to afford 10+ books for $15
>somehow bought $800+ worth of computer parts for "muh gaymes"
gtfo deplorable

Different writers presenting the facts from different points of view.

>be me
>try to read tech docs for an API
>reads like sandpaper
>get headache
>pick up O'Riley guide for the API
>reads much more smoothly
>actually illustrates things beyond the basic specifications

>falling for obvious bait

t. brainlet

>tfw to smart to need to read about APIs in order to master them

Because it is a complex and comprehensive system.

You don't "learn 900 pages". You read and absorb the information then come back when needed. Some circlejerkers like to brag about how they are command line gurus when they really aren't. Most of these books are used, ultimately, as reference.

To this day Oreilly has just about the best collection on the subject. Hopefully they don't mess up and keep the good stuff coming.

I'm not someone too stupid to work outside being a code monkey, working in real STEM gets me more than enough money to look down on you filthy codesmut peddlers

>an ideology literally about spreading the ideology as freely and pervasively as possible
>muh sekrit klub xD
This is why no one takes nigger cattle consumer tech kids seriously

I have the Unix Power Tools one, well worth $15 by itself

bash cookbook and shell scripting are decent.
don't know who they think they're tricking by including unix in a nutshell vs. linux in a nutshell though.

>not just reading BSD man pages

Spending money on manuals for libre software.

Neat, thanks man

Pretty sure I already have all those books somewhere, but I'm a compulsive hoarder of data.

Neat, thanks user.

Almost bought it too.

Came in to say what this guy said.

>not knowing that free software makes money via the support
>not giving a fuck that those books are DRM free
were you born retarded or simply adopt the mindset ?

Remember to give $0 to the Humble Jewish Tip.

>not just giving the fucking money directly instead of through these shysters
>implying "not using DRM" matters for fucking books when they can be stripped of it anyway, and they're still under non-free copyright licenses so you can't actually fucking share it legally
You were clearly born retarded, no one person could BECOME this moronic

Mongoloids like you with no understanding of tech beyond video games should stay in Sup Forums

O'Reily books are garbage. Very book I read published my them has been a waste of time.

this

fucking pleb publisher

Give it back Jamal

Garbage.
Warez is shit.

Linux Server Hacks, Kernel in nutshell were good. It's now a bit outdated.

just get them on libgen, they're all there except one which is irrelevant anyways

thanks famalamapingpong

Holy shit thanks man

for the pdf download all hashes match and the files are clean afaik thanks senpai

I'm running a free OS on a 1TB SSD.

O'Reilly is good. They're one of the only major publishers of technical books.

i have all of these books and they were all downloaded for free .. why are you wasting money?

Because it is a trivial amount of money for a solid collection of DRM free books in multiple file formats. They make downloading them painless and you can use the small amount of money you have to pay to benefit to any charity you want.

I use libgen to regularly download books from kike textbook publishers for free, but in this case $15 is well spent. Also, next time a good bundle like this comes out, it's possible that not all the books are available on libgen/IRC/torrents. So support these bundles while they last, and make sure to upload/seed anything that isn't already freely available.

Except that it does matter. I'm guessing you've never been forced to pay $300+ for a 6 month subscription to a textbook that can only be viewed through a DRM web application. Until kike shit like this stops, I'll happily support publishers that at least compromise with my ideals and offer bundles like this. It's a matter of practicality.

fair enough

Why aren't you heating up the oven yet?

>I though theywere interesting, told a relative (linux power user but not a HB client), he tell me those books are good and I should grab them
> grab them, read some random page in the linux pocket guide

Holy fuck, I didn't knew I'd be so glad to know HB, despite my 300+ games on it, they still amaze me

>2016
>Buying ebooks

I paid like 50 bucks for classic shell scripting alone. It's really a great deal if you buy at $1 $8 or $15. Sed and Awk are awfully useful for Linux scripting too.

pdf exploit flagged in every one of the files

I'm PU+ or Elite on most private trackers yet sometimes buy CDs, books and films that I already infringed the copyright of. Can you imagine that?

Btw, who wants an invite to PTH? :^)

Warez are illegal!
I already informed the FBI!

True.

Faggots never learn.

Despite bein a jew mindset, I do agree with it.

kek.
1/53 and this is false positive.

You faggot will never learn it.

>false positive

Neo in the botnet.

could be a false postive but why risk it

you can find clean pdfs for all of these books

Chump change.

I grew out of video games and got a job, so $15 is nothing to me.

(You)
Well I will reverse them a bit in a virtual machine.
Let's see if it's really infected.

Anyway the used exploit only affects Adobe Pdf viewer so for the most the exploit doesn't work.

Could you send us a hash of every pdf file?

Yes, in a minute. I'm downloading everything to my seedbox first.

I read many O'Reilly books in the last 10 years and only bought maybe 2, so I figured it's only fair to give them $15.

weew, slow down big spender!

nice dude, please do that
