Hey Sup Forums looking to do a budget build...

Hey Sup Forums looking to do a budget build. Looking to buy this Optiplex 745 for dirt cheap and budget build it for gaming. It currently has an Intel Core 2 Duo, should I get an Intel Quad Core 2 or leave it be and upgrade around it? And what parts does Sup Forums suggest on budget?

What budget? Cus you seriously poor if you want to buy a core 2 duo.

It already has that in it.

If you can't get it for free you're not broke enough to bother with core 2. Also, those small form factor PCs have teeny PSUs that can't support anything bigger than a GT 730. You can't even use a 750 ti.

I don't care nigger, tell us your budget already.

$300 broke as shit

Looks like a full-size PSU in OP's pic.
But yea you aren't running much in terms of a gpu.

Well check www.logicalincrements.com.
Also invest in some kneepads.

No, that is definitely a smaller PSU. Can't be any higher than 240w. I have several small form factor PCs and they are not gaming boxes at all.

You can build a first-gen i5 system for that and it will kick the Quad's ass.

So with some optimism, slapping a quad core 2 and finding a small psu and and chincy gpu, would this be an okay build?

No.
>Why not?
A) Those power supplies are proprietary size. You can't just go out and buy an off the shelf one. All of them are the same wattage, too - IIRC around two fiddy. Not enough for a Quad and dedicated GPU.
B) You'd need a low profile GPU. That'd be more expensive and harder to find.

I'll take time out of my day and look up some parts to build you something better than this shit. Give me a few minutes.

Get this.

Then if you need a GPU, add a GTX 1060 or 1050ti Whatever you can get for cheap

Also, put a HDD/SSD in this.

Im looking to see what I can do with what I already have, and while today is still cyber monday for what I can scrounge together

Do what says.

What do you already have?

You need to be more forthcoming with information if you want actual help.

You ungrateful cunt.

The only words out of your mouth should have been "thanks dude for taking the time".

Not the guy you were replying to BTW.

So you don't want to buy a cheap computer but want to spend $300 to upgrade your old ancient computer?

Thank you sir
And jesus can a guy get his pants on before you fuck him
Its a Dell Optiplex 745 with an Intel Core 2 Duo, all I know about it, been sitting in a closet because my stepdad is a cock and hsbt done anything with it

>(You)
>And jesus can a guy get his pants on before you fuck him

If I were going to fuck a guy, I would take his pants OFF first you daft cunt.

Personally don't know what to look for, just going off suggestions and looking to see if this ancient pos is worth touching up before getting a good rig

Sell it $30-$50 on craigslist and get Then add HDD to it. And it will be much more powerful than yours

With a any $100+ GPU this cycle, the CPU in will keep up with modern games just fine @ 1080p.

Thank you, ill probably do some buying on break tonight

>Its a Dell Optiplex 745 with an Intel Core 2 Duo

So you have nothing, and you have $300 to spend?

Do as and said.

You can get a monitor off of craigslist. Doesn't need to be anything fancy. You can get a decent 1080p monitor for cheap.

that cpu is basically a i5 2400 with a slightly better igpu. bretty dam gud for that price.

The ebay one comes with a nVidia Quadro 600, while not a awesome card, it would be enough to play most old games on low/medium.

However a modern dedicated gpu would be recommended for playing modern games.
