"One of those "what do I apply for college thread"

What do you guys think about electronics engineering? Is it a meme?

why not just do electrical engineering?

...

I'm senior in EE ama

ElecEng looks more familiar for someone who enjoys computers as much as I do.

Fuck you. IT shouldn't be bottom. /sci/ are a bunch of arrogant niggers.

What's the course like and how much of computing you learn with it?
IT is shit. You know that.

Don't bother asking for tech support when your computer can't turn on.

If you can't fix a computer you shouldn't be posting on Sup Forums.

I like a lot of the material, but some of it is pretty hard. If by computing you mean programming, then not a ton. A little C, asm, and verilog

Yea, that's one of the reasons I want Electronics. It has a little more of computing in it.

Studying CS/Electronics in the UK. AMA?

You're graduating in both? Holy shit.

Do you tend to lean to one side and be like "I wanna only learn programming, math and abstraction" or do you equilibrate the hardware and software knowledge?

Also, thanks for doing this :3 Helping a lot.

Job prospects? What kind of position at what kind of company are you going for?

Mine is a joint degree. Pretty easy last year, but this year's workload is really difficult. I'm not taking special CS/Electronics classes, I just take some of the classes the EEE majors take and some of the classes the CS majors take.

Electronical and computer engineering masterrace here.

Also, that stock image WTF

t. Pajeet.

Hoping for something like AMD or TI or NI. Have interned doing controls, like PLCs and autocad electrical. Really there's a lot of options

Nice. Can you share a little bit about how you ended up doing Elec. Eng. and not CS or Eletrical Eng?

Have some more.

>go into econ
>intern as a broker
>everyone says I'm a good kid and I work hard and I'm reliable and dependable
>everyone says I'm too honest to be a broker
O-Okay it's not like I want to make it
I don't wanna be a conman

You can pick different modules at 3rd year. I picked this one. CS is also one of 10 modules you can choose. Before that theres tons of maths and general EE and CS stuff.

That's neat as fuck actually. I have to choose only one degree, but I really enjoy both CS and ElecEng. Guess i'll study programming or software dev on my own (as I already do anyway).

Thanks for answering.

don't be a broker it's over unless you're an old boy from the wealthiest schools and have good connections.

Doing CS Ireland, my choice for elective is either security or data science. I'm leaning more towards data science but still on the fence any Sup Forumsents got experience?

I understand IT but why DBA?

Because /sci/ are a bunch of commies.

who computer engineering here

As a mechanical engineer who does electronics for a hobby, let me tell you that any STEM type major is going to be very rigorous. You better have the autism to hack it.

Got plenty of that autism on me. Thanks for the advice, tho. I am preparing myself for that.

No industrial design?

>tfw fell for the CE meme

>CE meme
Which one?

Can't decide between aerospace and computer engineering here

go aerospace and take comp. engineering classes on the side. that will make for a more relevant education than doing it the other way around.

EECS student AMA. Have worked with signal processing and power circuitry.

Are there any jobs? Seems like most silicon (asus, msi, etc) are in asia.

Is it just getting hired to test the new Zen processor or what?

I would just go full CE and ignore aero so I could focus on something like VLSI

Aero perhaps a CS minor so I can do Matlab well for companies

Bio major / CS minor here, couldnt stand being stuck inside all day working on server software. Would much rather get to play in the forest.

So if I'm a lazy piece of shit that doesn't like maths but is good at it I should choose physics?

because is a complete different thing.

electronics engineering is ok degree.
