I don't even use my phone that much, other for calls - not having the GAPPS running in the background and wasting my battery is a godsend.

Also, does anybody know how to keep WebView updated without the Play Store? I don't feel safe downloading it from various sites - isn't there a single official link from Google?

Yes vanilla is good

I've seen webview before but idk what it is, can you explain it for me?

Clover and AdAway
Nothing else, Google play is 10 times more convenient

Do you know Lightning browser? Or Naked? They're so small (compared to Chromium-based browsers and Firefox) because they use the already-existing browser engine in the system - WebView. Before, it was an entirely separate browser engine, but nowadays, it's basically Chromium's Blink.

Also, it's not just used by browsers like those I mentioned, but also, by other apps which open webpages within themselves.

I was asking whether there's a way I can keep it updated without having the GAPPS on my phone, and without using any fishy websites
