Which one is better? Will be used in a gaming PC, at 3440 x 1440 resolution. If that matters.
i76700k or i74790k

i76700k or i74790k
you won't notice any difference between these two chips for gaming
I would go with the i7 6700k. It's a more popular chip and slightly faster according to most bench marking services.
>gaming
wtf are you getting an i7 for
Because the price difference isn't that much. What would you recommend? I would prefer 1150 socket since I already have a board for it. Not against getting a new one if the performance was better, but It looks like its not.
Get a 6600k for gaming.
I had a 6600k but upgraded to a 6700k with the black Friday deals. The 6700k is the better CPU and OCes way easier or you can just keep it stock.
What about an i5-4570? I already have an 1150 board, so if that is not much less powerful I could save some cash there.
My microcenter is selling these for 260 buckaroos.
4790k , I looked at both before upgrading myself. Its a waste getting 6700k
4790k and 6700k are the same shit performance wise. Only real gain from getting 6700k would be access to DDR4 RAM.
6700k runs cooler and is slightly ahead of the 4790k in benchmarks
>6700k runs cooler
But it also has like 10C lower maximum temperature limit so it doesn't change much relatively.
Why you would want your cpu that hot anyway is beyond my understanding
What I mean is that a CPU that runs 10C cooler than the other one but can also withstand 10C less total ends up being the same. I don't know about the 6700k, but the default cooler that came with my 4690 was absolute shit and the thing would run at 80C during CPU heavy games.
My 4790k is cooled hy a h75i . Under heavy load it wont go over 59 degrees. im hardly pushing its boundaries.
Also the 6700k isnt worth it, hang on for the 7700s apparently leaked stats saying itll make the 6700 defunct
by a 1% margin
Have you seen the heat output? Intel fucked up.
Also 4790k is faster single thread performance.
The only reals bonus as someone said is the access to ddr4 ram and the 6700 performs slightly better in games.
Or the performance leaks? Its a 1% gain in performance.
Into trash it goes.
The single threaded performance is only because of the higher stock clocks. Same clocks, the sl pulls ahead.
They're close enough that you should just get the cheapest overall system.
IE; calculate RAM+MOBO+CPU for both CPUs and get the cheapest set.
