Perfect for reading mangos and watching animus on the go or in bed as your hands will never tire.

Also way better for 'gayming' than 10-inchers as you can actually reach almost anypoint on the display comfortably with both hands.

Fuck no. 9 american centimeters+ or bust.

I do miss my Nexus 7 but the market obviously wanted larger tablets, hence 9 and 12 inch ones everywhere.

>7"
>tablets
What purpose if most of phones are 5.5" - 6"

Six inch phones made them redundant

Other than that I'm pretty sure that 7 inch tablet Amazon sells for $35 is like the number one best seller in history

to get a smaller phone

All-in-one devices were a bad idea.

Can you install a custom rom on those?

You don't want to, damn things are slow as balls.

I bought one through Amazon Warehouse and it came with the version that you could still easily get custom ROMs on. The important thing to do is never connect it to wifi and just put it in airplane mode until you get what you want on it.

Looks like it forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire

Also Amazon are cheeky fuckers
>we'll send you a carton of six Fires for less than an iPad mini

Xiaomi Mi pad 2 and that nokia one

Nvidia Shield tablet is pretty gud, rocking Android M on mine

What the fuck do you use a tablet for? I put Cyanogenmod 12.1 on my cheapass Fire tablet and all I use it for is browsing and textbooks.

>7 inch tablet Amazon
That tablet is not worth the money. It's basically a tablet with 2010 technology, not even joking.

>4 to 4.5 inch phone
>7 to 8 inch tablet
>12 to 14 inch laptop
> desktop with 2x 24 inch monitors

The sweet spot.

Nice try Nvidia, I don't want to buy any of your literal housefires.

I too have wondered where the 7" tablets went, there are basically none that's come out in ages.

Right now I am trying to decide between two 6.5" phones with modern specs. That seems like the alternative if you don't want a 10" tablet.

OP it really is just because of increasing sizes of smartphone screens.

7.9 inches 4:3 retina display is the best for a tablet

>Can you install a custom rom on those?
Yes you can. It is fairly simple to install CM. It works just fine. At the moment I'm shitposting from my Fire 7" tabletâ„¢

large tablets are fucking retarded. they're completely unweildy. every post online claiming they love their big new tablet is a shill guaranfuckingteed. they're only good for niche case use whereas 7 inch tablets are good for everything

I have a Fire HD 7, wish I had splurged on the 8" model. the extra inch of screen space would allow me to read my DnD 5e PDFs without zooming in on them. Oh well, live and learn. I agree though, all the new tablets are too fucking big, for a real tablet it needs to be 7-9 inches and no larger. 10+ inch tablets are beyond retarded and only people that refuse to buy an actual computer/laptop want them for their "emails and internets lol".

The problem is that phones are almost all phablet sized now. Remember the Galaxy Note? When it first released we all wondered wtf people were going to do with it. Now most phones are about that size.

No point when phone screens are 5-6''. Even an 8'' is too small, i bought the Fire HD 8 and sent it back and got a Asus Zenpad 10 instead.

how much ram does it have?

1.5 GB according to the amazon page.

Ive been waiting 2 years for a new fucking nexus 7.
I have a 2012 model that's about to die one me, but goddamn, that thing was amazing.

>sneak it into my deskjob and watch netflix
>read more books and tutorials than I did on paperback
>Better than taking a laptop for flights and travel

I really want a new tablet too, but with modern specs and stock android and at least type c.

There is none. The best one is the Nexus 7 of your pic, it's the most supported by the developers and the hardware has aged well in comparison to other 7" tablets.

What I want more is thin-bezel 4:3 ratio tablets. I'm fucking tired of these 16:9 weird long-ass craplets with giant bezels.

>falling for the 4:3 meme

2017 Nexus 7

SOURCE?

one can only dream

I won't hold my breath, that tablet is supposed to use Andromeda OS instead of regular Android, so that would mean zero support by the developers.

7 widescreen is too small, from my experience 8" 4:3 is the best size and ratio

>Why are there literally no 7" Tablets anymore? It's the perfect format for a tablet desu.
>having a tablet smaller than your dick

lmao

7 inch is phablet tier now.

>unironically naming a device after a type of hazard

I'd say 8 - 9 inches tablets is the perfect size, but I'm pretty big.

Wait, does that also work with devices that have those 'special promotions' enabled?

>implying I fell for anything
I fucking grew up with it.

8" is perfect tablet size: book size

8" + bezels is too big.

Hope that chink bezel-less phone will start a new trend.

If the rumors of the next iPhones being bezel-less are right, we have a chance.

the only problem i have with my nexus 7 is it randomly freezes. i need to do a factory reset on it i think

Kobo arc 7 is pretty good. I'm not sure if they still update it though.

8" 4:3 aspect ratio is superior

similar height, much more width

Stock ROM?

I have a nexus 2 and I have a similar problem, except it also lags, as in I can't press a button unless I long-press it, or a swipe will be interpretated as a touch instead, etc.

Should be able to as long as it's not the most updated software. I have one with promotions and there Is a way to disable them.

>Why are there literally no 7" Tablets anymore?
Are you high? They're everywhere!

I can't fucking find a single 9" tablet or bigger anywhere, let alone with HDMI!

The iPad mini has a perfect display size imo (7.85" 4:3).

yes its all stock. i've tried some suggestions ive found online like clearing the cache, but it didn't work. i haven't tried a factory reset yet though.

Yeah, but it can't fit into most mens pants pockets, whereas my 2012 Nexus 7 could.

Agreed iPad mini is pretty much the perfect size, and 319-340g is about the most weight I will tolerate in a modern tablet.

>5.5 inch phone
>No tablet
>15 inch laptop
>Desktop with 3x24 inch monitors

The sweet spot.

Not with those bezels.

Is the Huawei M3 any good?

Google Pixel C? Although it doesn't have HDMI.

>Dual/triple monitors in the year of our lord 2016.
Even if you're a poorfag, a used 30" 2560x1600 monitor is under $200.

tablets dont have hdmi anymore because MHL is a thing, its like apples headphone jack argument of 'why have a space wasting jack when you can just an adapter' but actually somewhat legitimate

Single Display setup regardless of the resolution in the year of our Stallman 2016

multi display isnt a 'i need more pixels' solution, its to seperate different workflows. workspaces dont do the job well enough

>HDMI
HDMI is an "obsolete" port on smartphones/tablets. Seriously, what was the last time a mobile device had one kind of HDMI port? The last I remember was the Motorola XT910 I had, and that was a smartphone from 2011.
We are lucky if we get HDMI/DisplayPort over USB-C or something like that.

See

>uses a shitty legacy desktop environment and loves bezels.

Here's an 8 inch floppy for you, luddite.

Ultrawide monitors :^)

Slightly off topic, but isnt type-c pretty much an all in one cable?

It can stream video through hdmi, and supports quick charging, so why is mhl still considered an option?
