/players/ - what's the Sup Forums media player?

I know that linux and osx users have no choice, they have to use mpv but what about windows ones? On my machine MPDN was always much faster than madVR and mpv but I prefer the mpv design and philosophy.

mplayer, VLC meme, ...

VLC lacks of essential features like reclock, color management and high quality scalers.

I use the Film & TV app in Windows 10 since I don't upscale 480p kiddy porn to my full res requiring pedo filters and it just werkz.

It's up to you, but it will never be the Sup Forums media player, fully closed source without any advanced feature for perfect playback or color fidelity.

>pedo filters

The new madVR release is even more powerful and efficient.
How people can still use spline36, jinc or nnedi3?
For noobs there is LAVFilters Megamix which includes madVR presets.

mpv

Just werks.

He is kidding user

mpv CANNOT play blu ray

I tried to download the FLCL iso from nyaa, I mounted it, and mpv couldn't play it

Anyone know how I'm supposed to play a blu ray on my computer without blu ray software? or does anyone know where I can find a good quality fooly cooly torrent

mpv is a joke...

doesn't even come with a volume slider and the devs refuse to add it... what a bunch of incompetent faggots

bluray is drm protected, no basic player is going to be able to play it out of the box.`

spline36/jinc with superres looks very similar to NGU. If you compare them side by side, you can notice some additional, made up, oil painted details in a pic upscaled with NGU, but they are hard to notice from the distance anyway.
That's why I don't care about that madvr shit.

Nice meme

It's "funny" how drm protected blu-rays prohibit people from watching their legitimate blu-rays on their PC but do nothing to stop people who download the content illegally.

You need a few libraries and dlls dropped into your mpv folder.

Some encryption types have been cracked and you can install some program I forget the name of to keep all that shit up to date. There's another set of keys for a different type of encryption that have to be installed differently.

>downloaded an iso
>from nyaa

>didn't just check bakabt first

That's DRM in general; only fucks over legit purchasers.

SuperRes (disappeared from igv's gists) or SSimSuperRes?

is there no script for mpv to go on subscene and grab the highest rated english subtitles?

What about subliminal?
You need to install python...

doesn't work on windows

??? is it true?

didn't work for me when i tried it.

MPC-HC for video, MusicBee for audio.

No need for anything else.

But are you happy?

Why ask such thing, user.

have you ever messed with the conf file? mpv has performed just as well if not better for me than other players using win10.

Haha because people that use shits are always happy.

Because nnedi3 is still superior.

NGU breaks completely with low bitrate sources, even nnedi3 with 16 neurons looks better than NGU very high in those videos.
NGU is only good for high bitrate low resolution sources, like a DVD 720x480, which at this point you might as well just download the 1080p source.

NGU needs a good artifact removal.

We need a fully open source nnedi4!

Any good CPU based vapoursynth scripts?
github.com/shinchiro/mpv-winbuild-cmake/commit/15f0cf982389136a5fb20c76b41a9a5788872632

Why? Because I have a very powerful i7 with a poor hd2000 iGPU.

>like a DVD 720x480, which at this point you might as well just download the 1080p source.
Not to defend these ugly meme filters but there's not always a 1080p source.

which is exactly why nnedi3 was left by madshi , so you can use it on those dvd sources.

It still in madVR! Hopefully because his NGU is horrible.

For what?
You can do a lot of things with vapoursynth, but in most cases I think you'd be better off with a shader.
I have a script for deinterlacing, because yadif is fucking ugly.

I want to do a media set up for linux, but my gf doesn't want to go to mpv because she thinks it will render and handle subs like shitty VLC.(She thinks MPC is the only option for quality)

So how does it handle subs? Us weebs like our Mongolian sand art slides

is it possible to play two subtitle streams at the same time? If so, how?

mpv.io/manual/master/#options-secondary-sid

Thank you, that's useful. Also is there some program to mux dvd subtitles (.sub)? ffmpeg doesn't seem to support it.

mkvmerge

Actually I think with DVD subtitles you should have .sub and .idx, and .idx is the file you want to mux, so that might be why it's not working in ffmpeg.

You're right I have both idx and sub files. mkvmerge is indeed able to mux vobsub.

Do you also know a way to edit the timings of vobsub? They seem to be fucked, and it doesn't look like aegisub can read them.

I use to use mpc-hc but there hasn't been a release in over a year.
Honestly mpv should be the go to for both Linux and Windows.

you can open the .idx file in a text editor

Oh I'm dumb, I didn't realize that idx was for the timings and sub for the bitmaps. Thanks a lot.

This

My iGPU is just too weak for almost anything, it barely supports vo=opengl.
I would like to use deband, spline36+ upscaling and maybe something like Adaptive Sharpen, all with my i7 CPU. Is it possible with the newest sourceforge release? Have you got any good vapoursynth scripts?

Is there something like Kodi Quasar:
github.com/scakemyer/plugin.video.quasar
for Plex:
nightlies.plex.tv/public-test/plexmediaplayer/public-testing/latest/

Either VLC or Audacious for me

VLC

>On my machine MPDN was always much faster than madVR and mpv
Faster at what, specifically?

Hello foozoor, good to see you false flagging again

All DRM works that way

It exists to control the supply chain - thanks to DRM, content producers can demand more money from the legitimate manufacturers of playback devices and software.

The consumer is irrelevant, they only lose.

Sounds like PEBCAK

good luck
