would be cool if it was an emulator instead of a shitty open source engine with shitty open source games and a $49 price tag
Wouldn't it look fucking vastly superior if it didn't have a shit 90s transparent cover?
my thought is that I want one

cool project to do, shitty product to buy

Explain why you would want something that small and low-powered.
This thread is technology.
Some interesting stuff coming out like RPGs and whatnot
Small and low-powered are pros when it comes to handhelds.
It's open-source and you can code on it in C/C++
Yeah, that shitty 90s style. I used to make fun of the poor kids on the playground that had trash like that.
Megaman yo
>small
>days of battery life
>plays GBA games
>isnt shit
>Implying that you can't emulate on it
I feel like they're pushing the "gaming" aspect of it too hard. They should bill it as an educational toy and something for people to fuck around.
Programming games for a low powered system is great fun and a great way to become a good programmer.

I'm bored of emulation
...
Might be cool if it was actually available for purchase.
yo what the FUCK Sup Forums
super low power arm processors are exploding in power and efficiency because of the smart phone market and we still have the 3ds and fucking playstation vita.
Where the fuck are all the awesome handheld vidya devices? I want fucking 3 snapdragon 820s and and 10 trillion billion fucking CUDA GCN shader fucks with fucking RGB LIGHT EMITING DIODES GOD DAMN IT THATS WHAT I FUCKING THINK ABOUT YOUR STUPI ARDUBOY R U EVEN A F4ERWG
Oh shit. Didnt even realize. They had it in stock before black Friday
>all it's applications are literally video games
>fewer shades of gray than the gameboy
>lower resolution than the gameboy
might as well just use your calculator as a gaming device
Might make for a decent portable heater
One of these days I'll get off my butt and actually do something with mine.
Cool as the Micro is, I think it's almost too damn small. Yes I realize I say this in the context of the Arduboy. But they each have their own unique ergonomics. I find myself fumbling with the Micro, but not the Arduboy.
Why the fuck they did make it so thin
Part of the paradigm is that it's the size of a credit card (yeah, thicker.)
Your phone can do the same without spending additional money.
this
fuck tiny screens
if it cant do atleast 60fps then its not worth it in 2016+
Im working in my arduboy to but it sems that I got the proportions wrong
>white on black
WHY???
>adventure time
kys
>buying this when pocketCHIP exists
It's just to small. I've got small hands and the Gameboy color is about as small a console I'd want.
spoiler: they all will suck
The GBA has a well documented homebrew scene, emulators on every platform (which also means it's free to design for) , and is more powerful.
I've made simple GBA games in C, it was fun and educational about embedded systems, and if I wanted to I could throw it on a cheap flashcart and give it to my friends to play
>>buying this when pocketCHIP exists
2fat4me
derp
scratches
Just build a gameboy pi
this. Retro Pie is tits.
If they PocketCHIP didn't have those fucking retarded buttons, I'd already have bought one.
...
What the fuck.
We need the same kind of thing for music, now that the sansa clip is dead.
This, it's an educational tool more than anything else.
>sansa clip is dead
since when?
I imagine it's to keep costs down, and it's not intended to be your primary keyboard. It's just for doodling around with. For game playing. For when you got some inspiration and just can't wait until home to enter some lines of code.
I'm sure if not already, someone will come out with a handheld unit with a "real" keyboard. And it'll cost way more than the PocketCHIP; so you can get mad about that instead.
Might not be worse than the typical membrane stuff.
They don't make them anymore. The new range are too shit to run RockBox. Seriously, the new hardware cannot run it.
Please guys get the better version
can i play pokemangz on it?
i was able to simulate a shitton of shades using a nokia 3310 display and arduino. this thing should be able to do it too
Kinda want one for this alone....
At least it's not Arduboy.
perhaps a mac would be appropriate for a distinguished memer such as yourself?
