>NVIDIA wants to use as many defective GP104 chips that could not meet the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070
gee. not like they keep doing this every time
gtx 970 were failed gtx 980

>RUMOR HAS IT
not that it matters anyway. How the hell would this make gp106's obsolete? Nvidia is no stranger to stupid moves and fuck ups but this is literally nothing.

>1060 GP106 is now obsolete because there is a new silicone lottery that may result in you getting a GPU that isn't as fucked up as the others that you can unlock more performance out of

>tfw GP107
thanks 1050ti

Why would you even buy a 1060? i don't get it
The least future proof card ever
No SLI
Only 6GB

>silicone

>Not geting a 470
wew

>Only available in China

I bought my 1060 3GB for $160. The RX470 at the time was $190 and 480 were going 200+ easily.

My friend paid $260 for his 8GB RX480, we play some games together and I get better frames than him. kek

So yeah, its well worth it since I only play 1080p res games.

Bad yields again?

This is exactly how the manufacturing of semi conductors work.

The chips are not "defective" but they don't meet the requirements for a 1070 or 1080 like you mentioned. That's why they are used for a 1060.

Because of variations in the manufacturing process it's normal to sort the produced chips on performance. Some batches will run stable on high clock speeds. Some won't. This is why you see different versions within the same architecture. This applies to all CPUs and GPUs.

TL;DR: You just found out how processors are made.

Yeah, he would have been much better off with the RX 470 4GB. I have one and am extremely happy with it.

>1050 replacing 950m/960m in laptops in 2017
finally, christ. i need a new decent laptop for linuxing

Like binned chips?

stupid goy

How does buying the cheaper 1060 with better performance make you a "stupid goy [sic]" exactly?

I got my RX 470 4GB OC for $170 (black friday week sale) and it performs great on Linux and on 1080p.

Okay?

>calls others goy
>celebrates goy holidays and buys more expensive and less performing card

I never called you a goy, that was another user. I was just sharing what I got because I'm happy with what I have :)

If you're happy with what you have (you also got a pretty good deal), then good for you :)

You buy gtx 1060 for it priceing. 1300zl gtx 1070 2100zl salary 2200zl

>he fell for the "be content" goy meme

Okay

I nearly forgot; what happened to AMD's revisions such as RX 465/475/485?

They got obsolete because Nvidia still exists.

They simplified it.

Its now RX460/470/480/490 etc

SLI is shit and most games in 1080p won't be needing more than 4GB, this card is supposed to be used for 1080p, and it still actually handles 4k pretty well. The performance of the card is also pretty much good enough for at least 3 years, and it only costs $230. The card is sure to work for a long time without needing to upgrade, if you're paranoid or only feel good playing at 200FPS, that's what the 1070-80 are for.

good job being from a 3rd world country

Always heard bad things about eGPUing with AMD cards.
