Current:
> Bitfenix Prodigy Computer FX8350, GTX 970, 16GB RAM, running dual booted Arch Linux for daily use, but windows10 and steam big picture for vidya
> jailbroken iphone 5S with foobar2000 and a shit load of FLAC files, used mainly for Sup Forums
> AudioTechnica LP120 record player with 90's yamaha speaker for when I want to listen to music on my stereo and for a bit of DJing practice
> shitty 19" 1440x900 TV as monitor and xbox one controller for gaming on my parent's big TV

Dream:
> Raven RVZ02, mini-ITX console case, i5 4th gen or upwards, same GPU or newer, windows10 and steam big picture connected to a warm fuzzy 1080p CRT screen
> cheapo laptop / thinkpad for arch linux and daily use
> Modern flip-phone that supports FLAC playback, has a 3.5mm jack, and can access Sup Forums
> Sharp VZ3000 1980's record player that plays both sides of a record and some quality powered speakers
>ipega 9028 controller (allows mouse control with touchpad from the couch)

...

>benq 1440p 144hz monitor

dream
>the same except a better cpu

Current:

*64GB DDR3
*Dual AMD 280X
*256GB SSD
*2x4TB HDDs
Dual 1080p displays

Dream setup:

*1.54 TB DDR4
*Dual Titan X
*Dual 1TB m.2 SSDs
5x10TB HDDs
Triple 4K displays

Does a great 1080 satisfy your 1440p 144hz needs?

>tfw gtx gets autocorrected to great

A 1080 won't do 1440p 144FPS in the most demanding titles, you need SLI to get there and a fast CPU.

Current:

>CPU: Q9400 @ 2.66GHz
>MOBO: Last Decade board
>RAM: Kingston 4GB @ 1066MHz
>HD: Kingston 128GB SSD + 1TB WD Blue + 3TB Purple
>GPU: MSI HD7770 OC
>Case: Old IBM from the early 90s, pretty clean too.
>Monitor: 1080p Glossy 24" Dell Monitor
(Never bothered keeping up, was busy with school and work).

Dream Machine (Currently buying):

>Mobo: MSI Z170A M5
>CPU: i7 - 6800K
>GPU: GTX 1060 6GB
>Chassis H440
>Cooler: NZXT X61 Kraken
>HD: M.2 SSD 480GB
>Monitor: Probably a Curved Monitor as well, if I can a cheap one with 144mhz ref rate.

CPU arriving tomorrow, but my nearly completed build.

>CPU: 5280k
>MOBO: Asus x99 Strix Gaming
>GPU: Palit Super Jetstream GTX 1070
>RAM: 32GB Trident Z 3200Mhz cl14
>Storage: 500GB 960 PRO/EVO, which I'm going to order once they start showing up in stores.

That build is going to last for the foreseeable future and I find it hard to come up with a meaningful upgrade.
But if I had a shitton of money to use at the moment, I'd get:

>CPU:6950X
>Cooling: Some custom loop system.
>GPU: SLI Titan
>MOBO: Just something with 2x m.2 slots and tons of other connectors.
>RAM: 128GB of the same Trident Z stuff
>2x 2TB version of the 960 pro

But the system I'm putting together tomorrow will be more than enough for years to come.

>Z170
>6800K
That's not how things work.

Avoid "gaming" laptops

Current:
>CPU: i7 6700k
>GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1080
>SSD: Intel 320 120gb, Intel 520 180GB SSDs
>HDD: 2 2TB 7200RPM Seagate drives
>RAM: 16GB DDR4
>Monitor: 1440p 27" Qnix IPS at 104hz
>Monitor 2: Shitter 1680x1050 display
>Case: Haf X

Dream:
>CPU: i7 6800k or skylake-x when that comes out, new motherboard too obviously.
>GPU: Another 1080
>SSD: PCI-E SSD
Monitor 2: 1440p, 144hz, IPS display, not a Korean panel

My build is great though as is. The only thing I'll actually be buying is the new monitor sometime. The 1080 is barely powerful enough for it but but whatevs. I just need another monitor because 1 isn't enough.

Currently a maxed out T42 and a CR-48 Chromebook for youtube.

Dream setup?
Something with top tier levels of modding, custom made coolers, backplates, modded case internal surfaces, mobo armor, all that shit thats the exact opposite of green pcb and silver heatsink
Custom hardlined water cooling with copper piping

you get it

I love that case, but the white version. How is the build quality?

The grips ruined the case

How, are they shit or you don't like how they look? I like how they look.

Theyre coated in a grippy spray. Like plastidip
Meaning they are impossible to dust off

Oh fuck that.

My dream setup would probably probably involve one of the six core X7400 Xeons in some way, simply because I love older hardware, and the X7400 series was a pretty cool all things considered:
>Intel's first monolithic die with more than 2 cores
>supports up 4 way multi CPU configurations
>some of the last non-mobile CPUs Intel released for a PGA socket
>the fastest CPUs released based on core2 microarchitecture
>Had L3 cache unlike most other Penryn based CPUs
>Similar performance to a Phenom II x6

The CPUs can be found cheaply, it's just a shame finding a a compatible Socket 604 motherboard is a pain in the ass

Current:
> Window 7 Ultimate
> i5-3570k (4 core * 3.4 GHz Ivy Bridge)
> 32 GB DDR3
> RX 480 (ancient GTX 670 couldn't do HDMI 2.0)
> Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB (SATA)
> HGST 4 TB (Steam drive)
> 49" UHD TV as monitor (LG with HDMI 2.0/4:4:4 chroma @60Hz)
> Kinesis Advantage USB / Logitech G600

Next Workstation:
> OS TBD
> High-end Zen/Summit Ridge 8 core (3.0-3.2 GHz?)
> 2*32 GB DDR4 ECC
> RX 480 (cannibalized)
> Samsung 960 Pro 512 GB (PCIe/NVMe)
> 10 GbE, either add-in or on-board with Summit Ridge if we're lucky
> No local HDD, just NAS over 10 GbE
> maybe the 2017 Philips or Dell 40"-43" monitor if it's IPS and does 120 Hz with DP 1.3/1.4
> flanking 1920x1200 portraits?

Next Gaming Box:
> Windows 10 I guess
> i7-7700k (4c * 4.0 GHz KL) probably
> 2*16 GB DDR4
> 1080 Ti or Vega 10
> Samsung 960 Pro 512 GB
> 10 GbE NIC, probably Intel model off eBay

Dream Workstation:
> 2* E5-2667v4 (8 core * 3.2 GHz Broadwell @ ~$2k each)
> or 2* Zen if it's actually good
> 128 GB DDR4 ECC
> SLI Titan X Pascal / CF Vega 10
> 2 TB NVMe SSD
> 40 GbE NIC (would need a NAS upgrade too though)

First time doing this, so i guess this IS my dream set up until I learn more.
>Intel Core i5-6500
>Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
>MSI B150 Gaming M3 ATX LGA1151
>G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 8GB
>Western Digital BLACK SERIES 1TB 7200RPM
>MSI GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
>Corsair SPEC-03 White ATX Mid Tower Case
>EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supplly
>Asus DVD/CD Writer

Dream setup? how about an upgradable computer, somewhere between the size of a NUC and Alienware Alpha thats fully upgradable. Powered by an 8 core i7 and 1080Ti that runs silently at room temperature.

Current
>4790K 4.7GHz
>16GB
>1080 SLI
>3 monitors, main is 4K

Dream
>pretty happy with what I've got, would love a better monitor though
>better blacks, no glow, higher refresh rate, HDR,

Current desktop:
>Bitfenix Neos case (looks good from the outside, but it's complete garbage on the inside and taught me that cheap cases are cheap for a reason)
>Second hand i7 950 + some LGA1366 mobo (got this because of how badly the CPU segment has stagnated and as a result caused prices for newer hardware to be too high)
>GTX 970 (has served me fairly well so far)
>240 GB Kingston HyperX Predator M.2 SSD on a PCIe board plus 500 GB 850 EVO for data

Other devices:
>2011 15" MBP
>Jolla phone

What I plan on building once Zen comes out:
>Non-shitty case in the same vein in terms of looks
>Zen CPU plus some decent AM4 motherboard with a proper M.2 slot
>Same GPU
>Same SSDs, except with the M.2 one in a proper M.2 slot

Other devices I'd like to update to:
>15" MBP from 2012-2015
>New SailfishOS device (the Turing Phone with Snapdragon 820?)

Shit I mistyped, I meant 6700k

Does this have the 10G ethernet? I say TTL review it, so fucking gorgeous

>Does this have the 10G ethernet?
hahaha, fuck no.
It does't even have full speed m.2, just 2 lanes of PCIe 2.0 for 1 GB/s.

pleb, put your ssd on the pcie3 16x

Damnnn son xD

>proper

> Modern flip-phone that supports FLAC playback, has a 3.5mm jack, and can access Sup Forums
Does something like that even?

Current:
> Phantex Enthoo Evolv ITX PC, 980 GB SSD, Ubuntu LTS, GTX 970, 1080p monitor (this used to be my gaming rig but I don't game much any more)
> late 2013 13" Macbook Pro
> Shitty Android phone
> iPhone 6 with a cracked screen

Dream:
> My current desktop but with a 1440p screen
> homelab with a few virtual and physical servers
> 27" iMac
> new Macbook Pro
> new iPhone
> ThinkPad for Linux

There's no display out

Kys

Current:
>Lenovo Y50
>4710HQ
>860M 4GB
>8GB RAM
>850 EVO 120GB
>WD Elements 1TB

Dream:
>6700K
>Asus z170 A
>GTX 1070
>16GB RAM
>NZXT H400
>NZXT Kraken X61
>Corsair Strafe RGB
>Logitech G502 Spectrum
>Samsung 960 EVO

if i had the money to build a monster gaming pc i'd just get a new macbook instead because i don't play games.
