>making cyberpunk dystopia real
I'm OK with this.

it's a somewhat good idea if we leave behind the fact that a lot of people WILL lose their jobs if that thing goes mainstream.

it was inevitable that people will lose jobs. if you are Sup Forums then this should make you happy because now we won't need to import 3rd worlders into the West anymore because of this.

Yes goyim, don't you see how much shekels we could sa- I mean how much TIME we- I mean you could save?

Self serve checkouts have already replaced about three quarters of the checkouts at my local grocery chain store. This is just the inevitable conclusion.

Go back to pol faggot.

Whats stopping me from scanning the thing and then turning off my phone so I dont get charged?

Shoplifting. Made easy.

lol who needs an app i already do this minus scanning my phone when i walk in

What if someone hacks it yea this idea aint gonna work

dude what if someone hacks a bank and becomes a millionaire lmao
fucking retard

What stops someone from walking in and taking anything out?

seriously though, why would this be a good idea?
-no price verification at checkout, what if the price doesn't match the one on the shelf?
-no coupons
-seller can automatically accuse you of shoplifting if their sensors don't work properly, this will fuck with current shoplifting case law
-this is only a problem for the top 4% of the population or some shit, most people are not wealthy enough to just go into a store zero fucks given and pick up whatever they want like that

The phone is rigged to explode. Also if you walk slower than 5km/hr.

WAGEKEKS ON SUICIDE WATCH

Why would this make shoplifting easier? If anything it makes it harder since now they have sensors even on inexpensive items that go off if you try to leave without paying.

kill yourself james bond

Not an argument stormfag

>...grocery chain store. This is just to allow amazon a cut.

fixed

I'm sorry you live in a shithole were you can't trust people, I hope amazon brings it here, our community will do well

...

Looks bretty good, I see nothing wrong with this

can't wait to see a horde of dindus raid this places

>when a poltard is faced with questions he starts freaking out

>Literally IRL botnet tracking

i'll bite
>when a normalfag libtard is spewing nothing but memes to avoid an argument with a intelligent stormfag
really makes you think

>stormfag
>intelligent

Let me guess, you're an American?

Holy fuck.

Go back to plebbit with your normie memes.

It's botnet tracking insofar as you're inside the store and you're logged into your amazon account (which is required to enter in the first place)

They already track you inside stores with survellance cameras, the principle is that those cameras just track what items you take/put back and add it into an automatic cart so you can leave as they deduct it from your account

I hate botnet as much as the next person, but grocery shopping is a public activity and privacy obviously can't be expected. This is one of those things that just make everything easier and I'll aboard.

>comments are disabled for this video
:^)

>not being american
Let me guess, you're a cucked europoor faggot?

Awww, you need a safe space?

Reminder that Bitcoin will be our only way out from the nightmare. No Bitcoin? enjoy your lack of financial privacy you god damn cuck faggot.

Not an argument fatass

touched a nerve did I americuck?

SURE,
welcome to /cyb/ u can always beat the big corp with few wellplaced emp shocks on the rfid tags

Proud to have someone on my side, fucking fatass Americans

>not an argument meme xdddddd
you should feel bad because you aren't american :^)

LOL. Walmart has been IRL botnet tracking people inside their store for YEARS.

How's that heathcare system going cuck?

>but grocery shopping is a public activity

public as in, a few other people in the store can see what I looked at and purchased (and they'll forget), a security camera that is wiped at the end of the week. not comparable to having all info fed into the botnet profiling.

>walmart
>implying anyone but shart-in-marts shop there

ITT: Btfoed amerifats

By that logic, what's stopping someone in public from taking a picture of you when you're not looking? How can you know for sure 100% that the security cameras are wiped and not kept somewhere else?

I'll admit that you have a point wherein if I buy something silly at a grocery store like a kid's toy, I might start seeing kid toy ads on the web, but that falls into the realm of just having adblockers as usual. They cannot force me to see ads irl in the same way, as they can just be ignored like they already are now.

This post is to remind everyone that credit != money.

I'm curious to know what will happen if the credit is declined.

what happens if someone without a phone walks in and just casually walks out with a bag full of stuff

You are told to return the item back or put into a bin where workers/robots will put it back, or else be charged with theft?

why should we care?

purge yourself

how so?

>triggered amerishart

It's crap and i hope trump reforms it or takes out ACA

being presented with ads isn't the problem, it's that they have information on you that you didn't consent to them gathering.

Most grocery stores have been replacing people with self-checkouts already, it wouldn't make a gigantic difference. You'd still need people to stock shelves and such.

You forfeit your privacy by being in a public place. Right now, anyone can already gather information about you whenever you're outside.

not really, it's about using technology to make things more automated and our lives easier in general, which is what we should be doing. To further expose the internal contradictions of capitalism and the fact that capitalism has already broken multiple times and will only get worse. At least that's how it starts, such tech is too easy to control and manipulate the world with.

they could, but its not automated. I don't want there to be an infrastructure where that profile-building can be done on a massive scale. if some private eye is willing to stalk me for weeks, then fine, he can have the information. I don't want there to be a massive dragnet that corporations and governments can just put a search term into.

>tfw you work at a grocery store
ban all cars and amazon

What happens if I shut my phone off in the store?

>Walk into grocery store
>Amazon adds everything I walk past to my cart
>Grab some noodles and leave
>Walmart cop arrests me for shoplifting
>Get billed $56,756,856 for everything Amazon bought for me
>Didn't even get to keep my top ramen

But they also do that, and we do not at least get the benefit of a better shopping experience.

I just hate talking to cashiers, man.

No apparent robo-workers on the video.

The police run in and arrest you for theft

Not shown, but I suspect it to be the case if it's truly high-tech. Either that or yes, just a bin that says "return" next to the exit where you can drop off last-minute changes.

>walk in and take snack rack
>amazon charges me just for the snack rack
wooow

if I wanted to watch adverts I would watch TV

In a normal store an alarm would sound.
If they are smart, they will rerout you to a normal check-out (phone off = normal checkout).

If they are really smart they will use video tracking and face recognition algorithms to bill you properly without human action.

>Hop the barrier like at the train station
>Everything is now free

Better hire some security so the store looks like a club with bouncers, that'll sure look inviting

literally not an argument for any of my points idiot

>hop barrier
>alarm goes off
>you look stupid and a criminal
>it's recorded so everybody knows what you did
>you are now banned from all other local grocery store as a known thief and also banned from amazon store

wow really worth the risk huh?

...

How are they gonna know it's me?

I can just go in wearing a batman costume

>"four years ago, we started to wonder, what would shopping look like if you could walk into a store, grab what you want, and just go"

it's called shoplifting, i do it all the time

They use the same cameras and tracking algorithms...

>go in with batman costume
>alarm already goes off because of suspicion

The same way how going in with a ski-mask triggers everybody or hiding your identity

What's the best thing you've ever stolen?

If I don't have to wait in line at the store, then im all for it.
Your heart.
>"four years ago, we started to wonder, how can we spy on people's shopping habits when they don't buy things online?"

That's because a ski mask is used for crime, no one will bat an eye if you're a superhero, they'll just think you're going to a costume party

>an adult male in a shitty batman costume comes into a store without signing in, taking something, and running off does not raise suspicion

lol

We woke up one morning and fell a little further down

Then they'll know it's Bruce Wayne

I don't own a phone though.

>have recording of the beep the kiosk at the front makes when you scan something
>play it, pretending to scan your phone
>walk in
>grab what you need
>get out

>things you'll only see in 99% white neighborhoods

>muh white people

spotted the neo-luddite

There's probably still going to regular checkout stations for the less tech-inclined.

>the kiosk is just there for show and not actually syncing your account to your geolocation

You trigger the alarms.

Well no shit we were talking about getting caught

Next week I'll go as Ironman when they've got Batman posters up, they'll never see it coming

Not that guy but he isn't wrong you know.

Pic related.

But you can't leave it behind.

This is the "good" looking side of a cyberpunk dystopia. This is the above-ground people you see in Demolition Man.

But all the people who lost their jobs will not even be able to afford food and will be eating rats and/or recycled food.

Then they should apply themselves and find other jobs

Westernized, 2nd+ generation asians can come too, I guess

all bitcoin transactions are a matter of public record dumbass

There ain't no more jobs brutha

Niggers are going to loot the place dry in a day.
