>have macbook >have windows desktop >have 1tb WD external hard drive >want to store movies on it >came from store in NTFS >macbook wont write to it >format it to fat32 >macbook can now write to it but it can't hold files over 4gb >all my files are over 4gb
>MacBook Maybe next time you'll buy a real computer.
Christopher Sanchez
>using NTFS unironically Holy shit why?
Nicholas Lee
what am i suppose to use?
if i use HFS+ i can't write to it on my windows computer, if i use NTFS i can't write to it on my mac, if i use fat32 i can't even store any of my movies??
Logan Price
windows has to use NTFS...if people could run windows on ext4 im sure they would
Matthew Green
if I remember correctly, ExFAT, gets around both of those limitation (4gb limit, and works with both OS's)
Jonathan Flores
Why not use ext2/3/4. You can read and write on Windows at least using those systems. I don't know nor care to about Apple®™
David Edwards
>ExFAT does not work with ps3 or xbox and as you can see is not set to default format in any os.
Austin Scott
Download NTFS drivers for Mac.
Tuxera makes a decent paid driver.
Mason Garcia
you can't write to ext4 natively under windows without using non standard drivers/programs
if it was possible im sure everyone would do it
Blake Ross
protip: install windows 7 on your mac
That's what I did. We should have never gotten macs man, now I understand why they only make up like 5% of all computers out there.
Robert Garcia
why would exfat be a default file system? it lacks all kinds features.
it was meant for portable drives, and is the correct choice here desu.
exfat is SLOW AS FUCK but the only other option is to install some experimental drivers for his mac or his pc. ext4/ntfs/hps+ all are much much much faster than exfat
Grayson Turner
Pirate/buy Paragon NTFS or Tuxera NTFS.
Jace Parker
>doesn't work with PS3 and xbox why didn't you mention this before?
You want it to plug in game consoles, OSX, and Windows, and no 4gb limit? You can't have everything.
