Why the fuck are there no 4K computer monitors?

Why the fuck are there no 4K computer monitors?

There's a shitload of 4K TV-monitors but there is no fucking 4K content for them.

Why doesn't monitor manufacturers like Dell, Acer and Asus make some fucking 32-40" 4K computer monitors with IPS panels?

Seriously, it fucking makes sense for computers because there will be much more workspace.

Fuck you Dell.

There are loads of 4k monitors, dipshit. There have been 4k monitors on the market since like 2006

Because you buy them from South Korea on eBay like everyone else.

4k computer monitors existed 15 years ago.
In fact, the IBM T220/T221 had a slightly higher resolution as what's referred to as "4k" today.

Better question would be, why don't they make 4k monitors with HDR? Some of us like using a monitor for our PCs and console gaymen.

I use a 4K monitor made by Dell right now you dumb fuck.

The current 4k screens are awful. Bleed is a huge issue on the majority. If you wait until next year they are releasing some new 4k screens which have improved massively

>Fuck you Dell
???

OP, before you have a retarded tantrum maybe ask a few questions and shit.

Same with ultra wide curved mememonitors
Literally 90% of full-screen gaymes and movies have weird black borders on each side

>Same with ultra wide curved mememonitors
i really hope nobody makes content specifically for ultra wide monitors. retards who bought that shit should suffer, and they should look like the idiots they are for desperately claiming that it's good for productivity.

Most movies are 21:9

Why is 4K so weird?

Usually by the time things are cheap there's a lot of content. But now 4K tv's are dirt cheap, but there is a big lack of content.

Maybe the recession and lack of investment?

i'm aware of that, which is why i said that i really hope nobody makes content specifically for ultra wide monitors. movies that are made in 21:9 weren't made specifically for those meme monitors; they're just the obvious application.

honestly the only way your question makes any sense is if you weren't alive during the move to 1080p content or you lived in a cave during that time. the transition from standard definition to HD was nothing short of grueling. the move to 4k is positively rapid by comparison — pornography is coming out in 4k, youtube has pushed to 4k support really quickly, and we're starting to see documentaries and other shows and movies on netflix stream in 4k.

broadcast and cable television is struggling because they could barely hack HD bandwidth requirements and settled for 1080i, so now they're shitting themselves trying to figure out how to deliver proper 4k before consumers give up on them and move entirely to youtube, netflix, and the like.

>Why the fuck are there no 4K computer monitors?

How underage are you?
There are a few. Panel manufacturers just can't maintain good quality control.

Grueling? DVDS players got cheaper and cheaper and then boom everything had them. By 1080p I assume you mean broadcast 1080i and Blu-ray? Both of which moved quick and the format war was a riot. So fun.

Not him but you're clearly underage. DVDs and 480p was all you had well into 1080i/p TVs being available in the later 2000s. Cable TV still isn't 1080p.

>Cable TV still isn't 1080p.
in what 3rd world country?

youtube.com/results?sp=EgJwAQ%3D%3D&q=cats

In any country, kiddo.

DVD players don't play 1080p video. only blu-ray and HD-DVD do/did. i don't know if you're misunderstanding your own earlier claim or if you're deliberately making a totally different claim about standard definition content getting cheaper over time as HD content slowly took hold.

by 1080p i mean 1080p. 1080i was what most broadcast television settled on. it means interlace, rather than progressive, scan. it's a shitty hack to accommodate the insufficient bandwidth channels had for "proper" HD. and broadcast television was in an even worse position than cable. and this is saying nothing of the switch over to digital from analog. people would bitch and whine about how their TVs wouldn't work with the new format, and the government had to give coupons to get these digital antennas and converters and shit. it was a fucking mess.

literally the only way you can think it was fun would be if you were a child with absolutely no stake in this whatsoever, watching mommy and daddy bring home bigger and better TVs every few years as they dealt with shitshows like getting a new TV because of the digital switch, then regretting getting a TV only good for 720p when now they want one that does 1080i or 1080p, then maybe making the retarded mistake of supporting HD-DVD first, then regretting that and going to blu-ray eventually.

god, kids these days.

There are dozens of 1080p programs on DVB-C in Germany.

In before
>US
>not a 3rd world country hyuk hyuk!

we're talking about the US here. i understand that might bother you, being german, but it should've been a strong hint that our bias is to consider the US situation first, given that we're on an english-language site and the US population is literally 4x that of germany's

At BEST you're dealing with 1080i, kid. At fucking best. Only special order shit may be in 1080p and that's rare.

>in any country
>we're talking about the US here

Nur ÖR Mist. Der Rest (nicht dass der weniger Mist wäre) sendet nur auf SD außer du zahlst 50€ pro Jahr...

2K is good enough

you're referencing me for both quotes but i didn't say the first quote. you're talking to two separate people who think you're a retard.

>OP unironically wants to fall for the 4K meme

4k at 24" is retina display. it's a shame if you use an operating system with pixel scaling that can only charitably be described as "dog shit", but it's a real pleasure to read and write text on a higher density display.

I agree its nice for text and vector graphics. But i wouldnt buy it until its properly supported by windows. Unless one is planning to use macos then its understandable. Ive no idea how Linux handles scaling though.

My biggest issue with windows was the multi-monitor setup where your main display is 4K and other 2 screens are regular 1080. It was a clusterfuck of scaling issues.

There are fucking plenty. Get the cocks out of your eye sockets you fucking retard.

I don't think you know what underage means...

I think I do.

ITT: faggots who don't understand the difference between 4k tv and 4k computer monitors

lol nein

oh, I understand now. The OP was made as bait to try to get people to ask why not simply to connect a 4k tv to a computer, and then to hammer them over the head with the differences, as to appear smart and superior.

I guess that failed, then. Seems like the majority of the first responses isn't even about that.

The krauts need 1080p to watch all those ww2 documentaries on how they got fucked over after they gassed so many innocent people. Then again their country is now over run by filthy niggers so thats some payback

Because 4K movies in 300bitrate is better than 1080P in 12000 bitrate

KEK

Literally exactly what you're saying doesn't exist. Fucking google it next time.

I have a 4k monitor

nicht ein einziger sendet auf 1080p du Kevin marcush.de/hdtv-sender/

>Why doesn't monitor manufacturers like Dell, Acer and Asus make some fucking 32-40" 4K computer monitors with IPS panels?

Why the fuck do you people want these huge ass monitors ? the point of high PPI is to make shit look crisper/sharper as the pixels shrink down more and more.

I don't understand this thread. 4K monitors not only exist, but they're fucking everywhere on Newegg and shit.

It handles it pretty well. A bit better than Windows 10, but it's not perfect yet.

Every modern game supports or works fine with 21:9 and looks amazing. It's the best of single-monitor displays combined with the benefits of the eyefinity setups without the shitty bezel gaps.

You was able to get a 4K LG IPS monitor for $300 black friday. I didn't get though because I'm still waiting for an affordable 4096 x 2160 monitor.

Ubuntu and Windows 10 scaling works fine for me. Ubuntu is a little nicer though because with linux DEs you're able to use high-res scalable icon sets (like numix) that works with any program.

The real problem is with lazy developers who don't want to update their programs to include hidpi support.

...

Windows 10 scales very badly with high resolution 4K monitors.

If you enable 200% scaling, all images will become zoomed in and distorted.

If 40" 4K monitor is equal to four 22" 1080P monitors, I think a 32" 4K monitor would be perfect

>Windows 10 scales very badly with high resolution 4K monitors.
nigga, do you even own a 4K monitor or use windows 10 ?

Because I do, and things are fine here.

if things scale poorly it is generally the fault of the application developer not programming for high dpi displays.

This.
it might change with the new surface, though. it fucking better.

1080i?

200% is literally the only dpi scale that doesn't fuck up windows 10

fuck off you shill
