How would you rank the following GNU/Linux desktop environments, in order of best to worst?

>KDE
>Unity (though it's not technically a desktop environment)

GNOME > Cinnamon > Unity
Haven't tried the others yet, will probably check out KDE next, but I'm finding GNOME pretty comfy right now.

KDE
Cinnamon
GNOME
LXDE
The rest

>not using a window manager and being minimal as possible
Pleb.

I agree with this, but I wish Enlightenment were up there with KDE.

GNOME is utter horseshit

>Unity
>Gnome
>Xfce
>KDE

>Cinnamon
>LXDE

In this order from the best Hi-DPI scaling to worst.

Cinnamon is best, but mostly I use i3 WM so is correct

Enjoy your bloat. Tmux materrace is my wm.

Dumb frog poster.

1. XFCE/LXDE
The only resource-efficient DEs that work without 3D-acceleration.

What non-Mint distros can a newbie get a good Cinnamon on?

Fedora and Arch have the latest version of Cinnamon. Debian/Ubuntu might as well.

Fedora is easy to install as a newbie.

Can't do Fedora because Nvidia graphics. How would I go about getting Cinnamon on Ubuntu?

by installing Mint honestly

don't fall for anti Mint shills, Mint IS the distro you want if you are new and want to use Cinnamon DE

cinnamon de was made by the mint team

mint is essentially ubuntu reskinned

Should I get it now or wait for 18.1 next month?

Also, what update setting should I use? Will "give me everything" actually make my system unstable, or is Mint just overly cautious?
