mpv is really bad for me with tracking, it skips one second back and forth for small movements.
is there a config line or something that can fix this?
I have a computer I built running FreeNAS. I have Plex and transmission running in jails and transmission connects to NordVPN through OpenVPN. I cannot seem to get it download any faster than around 400 kb/s. This wasn't a problem when I download torrents through NordVPN's client and utorrent or whatver torrent client.
Any ideas? Thanks.
40 WPMfag checking in. How do I type faster?

$UEFI OS
I went through a bunch of old forum posts of people with the same problem, but no solution
how are you supposed to manage torrents on different computers?
So when it comes to interpreted vs compiled languages, why did interpreted become popular to begin with?
The fact that it relies on the user to not only obtain the program but also (in most cases) download an interpreter as well just to be able to run it, when a compiled program is just an .exe that can run on anything. Why does a non compiled option even exist?
I'm pretty shit at programming but I'm learning and trying to wrap my head around a lot of the low level stuff before focusing on other stuff.
What's a better use of my money, a 240 GB SSD or another 1 TB HDD?
I'd get another HDD and RAID 1 them.
That's just me, though.
What's a good ol' LCD monitor without an LED backlight that's available on newegg?
Is HDR just another gimmick? I see TVs with HDR pro, HDR premier, Dolby Vision HDR, is there seriously any difference? Also, is HDR even worth doing on a pc monitor?

I rent an office and have a few devices on a lan there. How do I set things up so I can access the office lan from my house?
I think a vpn with a dynamic dns, but I'm not sure how to set everything up. Routers in both locations are running DD-WRT btw.
You'll probably have to go and fiddle with the resolution and refresh rate of your monitor and games

Capacity or speed. Do you use your computer for work where you have to produce space eating content? Or do you want to play games and use a computer for mainly leisure?
How the fuck do I clone a RAID 1 array of HDD to a RAID 1 array of SSD?
Looks like a GPU or display connector problem; could also be a driver problem, boot into a Linux LiveCD before doing anything else, and if it's still fucked, open it up and look for where the display cord goes into the mobo. See if it's properly seated. If not, plug it in properly. If it's a GPU problem you're probably just fucked.
>quads
im never using google again
>Disable Raid 1
>Remove all HDDs
>Enable Raid 1 for SSD 1 & 2
>Reconnect 1 HDD
>Copy data onto Raid 1 of SSDs
If you have something bootable on that raid, use Clonezilla to do the above.
How the FUCK do you get into the bios in windows 10!? I have watched 10+ videos of people doing it online and followed instructions and my machine won't boot into the bios. The UEFI isn't a setting when I go into any of the advanced startup options. I have tried mashing F2/F11/delete on restart but the machine won't ever boot back into windows but nothing comes on the screen.. installed a new SSD and have been trying to get it to boot from that for like a week now.
>How the FUCK do you get into the bios in windows 10!?
It's not Windows dependent. Check your laptop/PC/motherboard manufacturer for info on how to get into UEFI/BIOS.
Since you have installed new SSD, I'm sure you are aware of the fact that it's empty and doesn't have any operating system on it, right? First of all you need to install one (Windows 10) on it to get 'anything on screen'.
Don't do it, just don't, it always ends bad.
HDR makes a bigger difference to me than 1080p > 4K

Is getting this screen at start up normal when unlocking the BIOS?
I'm trying to lock it in my Nexus 5X, but I can't get into the bootloader
I have windows 10 on a lenovo laptop and something is wrong the booting process appearantly. And on top of that, the auto-repair isn't working. I tried many different things to no avail. I ended up just restoring to the last update but now, about 12 hours later, it's done it again. What can I do to repair, or at least repair the auto-repair. I'm not very computer literate so I searched around for about two hours the first time around, even manually trying to fix the auto repair through the command prompt but I ended up just restoring it I should also add that before each time it would do this it would say "restart required" but I kept ignoring it. Both times I have done this I left it paused on a youtube video for a long time to go eat dinner and by the time I got back it was attempting auto repair. Is something wrong with it or is it my fault for not restarting it?
>bios in windows
Lol
I cloned my current HD to it so we should be good to boot from the new one, but I haven't even made it there yet. I can't find shit about booting into bios with my motherboard.
Give me your motherboard model
>about 12 hours later
If your laptop is less than 5 years old, it shouldn't take this long. Also by the description of your problem, it looks to me like you might have a faulty hard drive that needs to be replaced.
> I'm not very computer literate
Honestly here, find someone local that will be able to look it up for you.
Another option is that you just have somehow messed up installation of Windows, which in this case a clean reinstall should fix this problem.
Meant to also quote

in powerpoint, i have a slide that's completely done, with text, pictures, and all
how do i turn that slide into a template with placeholder stuff in place of the actual text and images? i have to make several of this kind of slide
Not sure if helpful but on the thumbnail preview you can right click the one you just created and select 'duplicate slide'.

I know a modest amount about computers, nothing like programming but I know the basics of a tech support guy I guess so I'm wondering where should I go to start learning more about computers? What's a good starting point or something like that
Is there any downside of having different size and brand RAM modules installed?
I don't really need more than 12 GB, but is it less effective than having 2x8 of the same brand if I use less than 12GB anyway?
I just figured out it does it whenever the computer goes into power saving mode after a period of inactivity
I built a PC and chose a b150 mini ATX mobo (for a full sized case) without thinking because it was cheap. I don't plan on overclocking nor doing sli/crossfire. How fucked am I?
I need help with installing gentoo. It seems a little bit difficult to understand for me. I am on the minimal installation iso. Am I doing this wrong?
Also how did you get around to having the skills of installing gentoo? It looks to be a very nice operating system, but I can't tell if I am just installing wrong or if I need to learn more.
>240gb
If you're not getting a 500gb M2 drive, there is no point in spending on a SSD.
here are the specs if you want
>learn more about computers
Go read articles about new hardware, software, security, networks, etc...
Read them carefully, if you don't understand something, research it.
If you find something interesting, try setting it up yourself, playing about with it, try to get new things working.
In your case, no. Both modules run at max 1333MHz and in dual channel, so they're both running at max speed not limiting each other. The fact that they're running in dual channel is actually good for performance. Go read about it.
tl;dr you're good
Well easy fix would be to disable sleep timeout in windows settings. It also might be a case of faulty chipset driver in Windows. I seen this happening on some Intel chipsets. In this case, using drivers from laptop/motherboard manufacturer usually works, even when they're not the latest. For intel they're called intel management something.
Doesn't matter, it will just look ugly in the case with all the empty space below mobo
damn, I got cucked. Good shit, thanks user I'll give it a try.
>tl;dr you're good
Thanks for the quick answer m8
I have a kobo with a broken USB port. Which means I can't charge it.
The screen still works good, is there anyway of plugging the screen into something like a raspberry pi instead of throwing it out?
Probably there is no easy way.
Take it apart and sell on ebay.
I doubt it, short of opening it up and installing a new USB port somehow. At least it does use a standard format so it wouldn't be THAT hard, but still probably more trouble than it's worth.

Google is not just one, it's the BEST general-purpose search engine. Everything else is 2nd-tier or worse.
Interpreted is easier for the programmer. Easier to debug, easier to modify.
>faulty chipset driver
I'm sorry for being retarded but what is that amd how can I make it stop causing problems. I read a little bit and I think you're saying that the external hardware I'm using may be causing problems? I use a wireless mouse but I also use a flash drive that I take in and out of often. I know that I'm not supposed to pull the flash drive out while its being used so I always use the safely remove option. Sometimes it'll say it can't remove it without me closing a running program and I could exit out of everything and it'll still say that. So I turn the laptop off and pull the flashdrive out. Could that have caused any problems?
This is truly a stupid question. You don't know whether you need another TB of storage? Then how the fuck should I know?
Does bad cable management like in a mini itx actually affect airflow or is it a meme to show off online
Actually I think there's a way to do it from Windows now. Try shift-clicking restart and selecting recovery options or something like that. One of the options is reboot into BIOS.
Your OS is probably corrupt. I'd guess caused by bad or improperly-installed RAM. Run a few hours of memtest86+ to check. Regardless, you'll probably need to do an OS reinstall.

Don't interpreters exist for a lot of compiled languages anyway, now, to help with debugging?
I have a folder on my external HDD that has numerous files and folders on it, but all I want to keep are the music files and associated folders.
How would I go about deleting everything that's a non-music file, as well as any blank subfolders within this specific folder?
I'm on Windows 7 btw.
If I'm interested in algorithms, graph theory, and architecture, but don't want to become a code monkey, should I still major in CS or switch to CE or MIS?
What are good textbooks on Java, C, C++ that I can self teach these languages?
Or are there good texts online?
The "Head First" series is pretty nice. From what i've heard about Learn Python the Hard Way, Learn C the Hard Way may be good as well. For C, don't use K&R as an intro.
Anyone else's Sup Forums X shit the fucking bed? Something within the extension code is blocking sys.Sup Forums.org/board/post from going through and is giving me a 403 error.
Anyone else have this issue?
I'm almost done building my new computer. I'll be running it on integrated graphics only for now, so what do I do with the pci-e cables?

I tried installing windows 10 but it wouldn't recognize the drive I wanted to install it on
It's plugged into an Intel Patsburg SCU device and plugging it into anything else would require more manual labour than I'm willing to put in
wat do? It can recognize drives plugged into USB but it refuses to let you install it to one
Is there a way I can install my android system to the SD card?
I have root and all and not dumb with phones
I have a budget Android phone because poor only 8 gigs of internal storage and an SD card slot (currently only a 2gig old af one I've had in a junk box in it) saw a sale for a 32gig for $7
Even with the bare bones apps o need installed and no games or such, and removing bloatware I do not use, as the cache fills up my phone drops to 300mbs of free space all the time (I have maybe about 700mbs
Even with images or shit I downloaded gone only 700
When it drops below 500 it starts to not get visual voicemail and it won't let me update apps that have like 10meg updates at most
I want to move system to the 32gig I will buy and hope everything is good and or get the 32gig and have everything but the system use sd storage
How long until Nvidia/AMD make a card worthwhile to upgrade from a 7970?
Can someone help me setup QoS on DD WRT?
i've read pretty much every webpage on how to setup it up with no sucess.
Things i've tried :
>Application/Port Throttling
>MAC address Throttling
>IP address throttling
>HTB vs HFSC
>setting my download & upload to 1 kbps (pic related) for testing purposes.
pic related you have my current configuration.
i have a 2 mpbs down / 1 mbps up connection.
I want to setup my computer (on screenshot) to torrent but to allow my brother to use the internet with no problem
>why you dont limit the bandwidth in ktorrent
Yes i can, but this means that when my brother is not using the internet it will still throttle and not download at full speed, thus defeating the purpose of QoS and dynamically shifting the bandwidth

Can anyone advise/link to a proper way to virtualize osX/macOS on Windows 10? I have a nightmare of a problem... my work bought me an iMac to work on when I joined. Fine. But I had to take over a project that the previous team leader who developed a VM provisioning system to have a local playground... made it so it ONLY works on osX/macOS. I don't have a Mac at home.
The problem is that sometimes I work at home. I get paid ok, but have more than enough machines at home, and don't want to spend $1000 + on a machine for one fucking project a previous leader/loser couldn't/didn't care to make cross-OS compatible (I have about 15 projects under my belt where I made the local VM box provisioned to work on Windows, Mac, and Linux; so FUCK him).
Around 3-4 years ago I had osX VMed on Windows 10, but it seems way harder/impossible for me to do now (looking to get it in a VirtualBox or VMWware). I fucking hate Apple's dev ecosystem that requires rediculous buy-in; I can afford it but Africa is fucked lol. Someone should ask Cook how they're helping the IT sector in the Sahara.
WRRRRRYYYYYY
If I have no intentions of overclocking, will I miss out on much by going with a non-Z170 chipset MOBO? (ordered the i7-6700k from Intel Retail edge)
Where can I find a legit version of KMSpico? I know it's full of false positives but I also don't want AIDS
>Windows 10
Erp, I did have osX Lion VMed but it was probably on Windows 7; I currently run 10
>Willingness to lean in to get the job done, bug free and on schedule.
What do they mean by lean in to get the job done. They're basically saying overtime with probably no extra pay?
>If I have no intentions of overclocking, will I miss out on much by going with a non-Z170 chipset MOBO? (ordered the i7-6700k from Intel Retail edge)
No. you overpaid for the 6700K.
The difference between the 6700K and the 6700 is so minuscule it can only be observer by looking at cinabench results.
>$134 is overpaying
>Same price as i3-6100
anyone
REALLY stupid question. If I have an SSD as my primary, can I install programs to another disk? I've never had the opportunity to do this before; just did my first build in a decade today and always had just a single HDD.
Yes
Set the path to install into d drive or whatever drive letter you want to it write on
This is what you want to do because ssd can only write so many times, keep only system on there
So far I've only installed the OS and some utilities (MS Office, stuff for tagging files, 7zip, etc.) on the SSD. I bought a 525GB so I've got a bit of space, but I don't play on using it for storage of videos of audio. I'm going to put some games on it for load times. Thanks for the info!
Why is my internet so slow and why did all the sites and streams stop working
