Im planning on getting some ITcertificates. I've done research on them and currently studying for the A+. I figured next I'd get Network+ then Security+. Does anyone recommend i go about it another way? (Different certs, different order, etc.)

What do you want to do?

The 3 certs you mention might get you a helpdesk job and thats it

Thanks. I would like to get into something dealing with security. I'm pretty knowledgeable about basic computer stuff, I'd go as far as to say I'm intermediate. But i really just want to know where i should start

My plan was to get an Associate in Info Security at the local community college and grab some certs before i graduate. Then just gain experience from then on

When the recruiter for our company hands me a stack of resumes for review, I instantly trash any with CompTIA certs.

start with ccna, go ccna security, then ccnp. after that cissp or any other security cert

compia is a scam and won't get you anything meaningful

trust me, start with ccna, it's not even hard

Not relying on certifications to give you the skillset you need would be a good start.
Certifications are going to get you a boring job at a big company (maybe not even that) but anyone with a brain will just gloss over them.
Also, the infosec community isn't particularly friendly of certifications like CISSP (even though I doubt they will think ill of you just for having it)

Hey anons I plan on becoming a computer repair technician. Is A+ certification and apprenticeship the best way to become one or is there a better way?

Damn son. why is that? (OP)

a+ is actually pretty useful if you want to learn pc parts. But don't expect to find a job for you

The DoD hires based on comptia certs so don't listen to na sayers.

I just have my security+, work @ a DoD army help desk.

I work 4 days a week (10hr days) and make $25+hr with total ease bro.... I enjoy my consistant Friday, Saturday and Sundays off.

Are you studying CS?

I'll take your word. I see the jobs look for Cisco certs apparently

Op here. Im in the military too. I was thinking of changing my job to It specialist (25B)

Don't get me wrong, comptia certs are totally ok to read and learn.

But you'll get way more chances with cisco certs than with comptia ones

if you live in 3rd world, every single dolar is important, so why waste it on stuff 90% of employers don't even know what it is about

Op here. Im army too. Im thinking of changing my MOS to 25B for that to be on my resume

A+ is bottom tier for people that don't know what a computer is.
Chances are, since you're on Sup Forums, you do know how it works.
Go straight to Network+ and Security+
After Network+ you can go the CCNA route

Dam im about to get my net+ in school

OP here. That sounds good too

What do you actually want to be?
I can tell what certs you should get, but without your input on what your dreamjob is it won't help you in the slightest.
