Thats a nice looking bezel.

This might be a worthy upgrade over my XPS 14 (L421x)

can i run OSX on it?

Does it still sound like a helicoper under moderate load?

I know this is a troll, but it has been shown countless times that the Dell XPS series has been shown to work pretty great as a hackintosh

4k screen
32 geebees of RAM MEMORY

after new paste neither cpu or gpu go above 80c under load. What you wanna worry about is getting a good unit, i got lucky with mine and didn't have to put up with all the bullshit that others have been experiencing.

>15 inch form factor
Not even once

>bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-12-20/how-ae-alienatedppl-mac-loyalists

>After you've spent the afternoon voiding the warranty, it now sounds like a single rotor helicoper instead of a chinook
>Also it runs Windows

this basically, i'm not voiding the warranty on a $1500 laptop to make it function properly

How does it manage to have a full size hdmi port, USB 3.1 ports and 32 GB ram? Apple said this was impossible in this form factor

>Ethernet and USB-A via Dell Adapter (sold separately)
I hope that's a joke.

I am so fucking hype for the gtx 1050 laptops. It's exactly the amount of gpu performance I would want while mobile and it clearly is efficient enough to not mutilate the laptop's design. I mean, that xps is gorgeous. I cannot wait to see the laptops using this chip in the coming year.

This can't be happening! I'm in charge here!

Its amazing
No matter how retarded Apple is, everyone follows their trends

>GTX 1050
>in that thin design
GTX 1050m confirmed

XPS 15 has usb-a. It's talking about the dock itself which has ethernet, vga, usb-a and other ports in itself.

Dell managed to cool the gpu relatively well but you can't have thermals, a small form factor, and silence in one package. Cooperates with arch too.

How strong is GTX 1050 gonna be? I play only Skyrim sometimes, will it be strong enough for that?

yep, easily.

Skyrim works even in the most potato of PCs. It's going to run even on the Nintendo Switch, which is an underclocked Pixel C tablet essentially.

It's not, and guess what? The dock barely fucking works and the drivers are shit, we use XPS13's in our workplace and occasionally they just stop detecting inputs, start flashing screens or overall stop working. Also the docks are like £150 a piece.

Why not? Macbook Pro's stay quiet even under fairly heavy loads, everyone around me works with a rMBP and whenever we hear fan noise we assume it's the XPS the marketing guy uses.

get more money if you're that worried about it

>Macbook Pro's stay quiet even under fairly heavy loads
While getting so hot you could fry an egg on top of the keyboard. It doesn't matter how much you kick and scream, 90ºC is not a normal temperature for a CPU.

>body that flexes
>trackpad that flexes
>trackpad that only recognizes gestures 70% of the time
>close lid, battery at 90%, go to bed, wake up, open lid, dead battery
>Windows
>depreciates in value by 75% in 18 months
>wish you had more than one USB-C port in 2017

B-but my SD slot!

inch form factor
>Not even once

I agree.

...this has a 14 inch form factor with a 15 inch screen, though.
>bezels.

Hot keyboard is not something I've noticed on mine, but the underbody gets pretty hot, like between the screen and the underbody.

>Macbook Pro's stay quiet even under fairly heavy loads
that's because apple doesn't want to use anything over 75w. Despite showing its age, the 960m walks all over whatever mobile amd graphics from 2012 apple decided to go with.

true that all laptops depreciate in value quickly except macbooks

what can we do about it gentlemen

>>depreciates in value by 75% in 18 months

Excellent! I don't buy for resale, I wait for business class notebooks. People with work to do have desktop workstations because notebooks are secondary, ergo-crippled machines by nature.

I'd like to see 90-percent depreciation in six months.

Why do anything?

It's great when you want to buy 2nd hand.

And when you buy new you shouldn't be so poor that you would care.

>no
>no
>no
>hibernation mode
>install gentoo
>if you can't afford to keep it then you shouldn't have bought it in the first place
>dongles now aren't worth waiting for usb-c to become standard

with those specs if it's above €400 I don't care

looks good, but i'm still going to get the new spectre x360.

>didn't wait for pascal

Did they take the specs down from that site?

If Razer can do it with a 1080, then Dell sure as hell can do it too.

what the fuck, they literally did it

is there any point in getting the developer edition?

cheaper due to preinstalled ubuntu

Looks nice, but if you skill a product that sexy you can't leave us hanging. I need the following info.

>battery life on medium settings with normal useage
>cost in burgerdollars
>maximum memory

>battery life on medium settings with normal useage
around 9-10 hours FHD

>maximum memory
32 Gig

>cost in burgerdollars
FHD 32GB 1TB one is 1900

I would buy this.

How well does it run GNU/Linux? I would be installing Debian on it.

considering it has developer edition that is packed with ubuntu, it should have perfect linux compat.

If I were to get a dev edition, would it be cheaper because I didn't get a Wangblows license included?

true

>APPLE ON SUICIDE WATCH
When will you realise that for Mac-fanboys specs, looks, price, weight, battery life, performance, any quantifiable parameter does not matter as it is not Apple?

>no
Yes
>no
Yes
>no
Yes, you clearly haven't used a Macbook trackpad to compare. Two finger scrolling should work 100% of the time. Even 99.8% of the time is unacceptable.
>hibernation mode
Ok. hiberfil.sys can then take up 16 or 32GB of precious space on the SSD? This isn't a suitable workaround for stupid power management.
>gentoo
Why do you need a powerful machine then?
>can't afford to keep it
I agree with you there, but my statement is more about how these machines just don't hold up. They are poorly made and parts break easily. The batteries die fast. The reasons why they depreciate so quickly are indicative of how shitty of a laptop they truly are.
>dongles now
Debatable, but I can see your point if you need a PC now *now*

That's too bad, considering it'll probably be a nice hackintosh machine. You're right though, iRetards don't understand that a Mac is just PC parts in different case with a different OS installed. It has been that way since 05 or 06 when Apple went from PPC to Intel x86.

This. Apple could release pictures of Apple products and sell it for hundreds of dollars and people would still buy it.

wasting more than $300 in a crapbook

Of course they don't, the only reason to buy a Macbook over anything else is MacOS since it shits on Windows for anything that isn't gaymen

They actually did.

apple.com/designed-by-apple/

Good job, you got the joke

Oh, my bad. Apple's products are so retarded now that I can't even tell apart a joke from something serious. I could say that Apple is the world's number one dongle manufacturer and people would believe me.

Explain the image.

i use a mouse 90% of the time but the track pad is usable. Dualboot w10 and debian just fine. I haven't experienced the battery issue but that could just be my unit. Like other user was saying, you have to get lucky with the shitty dell quality control.

>Windows
Never.

The guy had a website which - instead of hosting its own images- used links to images on a different site, presumably to save bandwidth.

Fingerprint scanner is only a feature for law enforcement, so they can know without a shadow of a doubt who is using the computer to go to which sites and do which activity.

Good job, you got the email

meh... I'll wait for the 2019 model... just sayin'...

There's no such thing as gtx 10xxm

THANK YOU BASED NVIDIA

wtf i hate my chinkpad now

I have a Dell Latitude 7370 and shit runs just fine. Most laptops will run Debian with no problems.

>pascal on a xps
finally

Are Dells any good? I haven't owned one in so long.

i maintain and install countless HP laptops at a company for our workers.
Most are top cpu with 8gb minimum. all run windows 10.
out of the box they are cheap plastic low quality junk that lasts 6 months before hardware problems crop up. Never mind the helpdesk problems of running windows as they gum up their machines and need to be wiped and re-imaged at least once a year.
although they have the latest quad cores they run like absolute shit.
fuck HP and fuck windows low quality spec chasing laptops.

Skyrim plays on Medium settings on an Atom x5.

You can install Mac OS on a pc, dumbfuck.

and inb4 this topic is about dell. they are as bad or worse.

>true that all laptops depreciate in value quickly except macbooks
But Macbooks lose the most value.

XPS 15 (Quad i7, 16GB RAM, GTX 1050) = $1799
rMBP15 with similar specs = $4299

XPS 15 in 2 years = $600 = $1199 loss
rMBP15 in 2 years = $2200 = $2099 loss

So even though you get a seemingly large amount of money back at the end, you still lost significantly more money.

Can't believe macfags can't even grasp basic math.

>tfw I still have my dell xps17 with i5-2410m and a 550m

Time to upgrade

The only thing apple does well is phones, to an extent.

4h battery life vs 9+h

Any workload that requires 32GB ram on a laptop should be done on a desktop and remoted into.

any workflow requiring that much resources are a drain and goes against the whole point of having a light portable pc.

meant for

Yet the XPS 15 still gets better battery life, even with all these superior specs and screen.

Most people are currently reporting 3-4 hours with the newest rMBP 15, meanwhile it's not uncommon to get 6-7 with the XPS 15.

...

>no ethernet

yeah probably dude no joke

>16:9 display

top kek

They really need to fix that bottom bezel, it looks stupidly large, also why didn't they use the XPS logo, looks way better than that tacky Dell logo.

I would love it if they just made the top bezel slightly larger, cut down the bottom bezel a bit and moved the camera to the top like Asus has been doing on their slim-bezel laptops.

Muh nig. I had an xps17 with an i7 and a 555m. I just moved up to a mid-range desktop and it's heavenly.

I love my l702x so much, towers are over for me.

when does it release?

>dell.com/en-us/shop/productdetails/xps-15-9560-laptop
Any glossy screens without a touch screen and 4k?

>32 GB of RAM

COOL,

ALL THE HACKER NEWS FAGGOTS CAN SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT 32 GB OF RAM NOW

FUCK THEM

>great specs
>great build quality
>
>
>
>runs Windows or Guhnoo/Linnecks

Sorry, no.

>fingerprint sensor
This isn't a feature. These are useless security wise. Less secure than a 4-diget password.

Its especially useless seeing as its a Windows machine. They just can't do the same shit Apple does designing hardware and software and NOW designing their own custom silicon for their own custom OS to interact with their own custom fingerprint sensors.

Hardware and software made by 2 different companies will never be great.

yes, it's usually slightly cheaper because no windows.

Pricing for this hasn't been announced though.

>reddit
>32 gb
>not enough for me to browse facebook
>need 128 gb of ram
>wow this is so much shit
>I cannot browse fb on 10 VMs now

>I don't compile software

It's not like macs are quiet under load
Pretty much the only mac that I've seen that isn't loud under cpu and gpu load was a 2013/14 air
