Handling large files for what I know, like large databases. EXT4 is for file quantity and nested directories.

Xfs can handle anything except shrinking. Potentially will replace btrfs and maybe ext4 in the future.

Xfs is great for storing fuckhuge files (eg qemu sparse files).
I also use xfs for root while I tend to use btrfs for normal storage.

XFS is supposed to be superior the more threads you have. It does lack the ability to be shrunk though if for some reason you need that.
