Fucking this holy shit. My install also started randomly forgetting its configuration on reboot. Modern KDE would really be the DE to go for if it wasn't so fucking glitchy. Also VSync doesn't work properly no matter what I set in the compositor.

Running KDE Neon here. Runs like a dream, will probably switch to it as a daily driver.
KDE is okay, not much exposure to it but it's Linux so word up. I prefer MATE or Gnome. Both of those seem to be fairly stable. Also, you can't beat Xfce. You have to sacrifice eye candy though for Xfce, but it will be the most stable with any distribution.

Easily my favorite aspect of KDE. (Well - after Dolphin and Ark and the launcher) That tweak-tool package everyone downloads when they use GNOME or Unity or Pantheon? KDE doesn't force you to download an additional thing to have all those options.
Using it in openSUSE, it's easy to see why it's considered the best KDE distro; adding yast on top of that makes for an astounding level of control within just two windows.
I've been running it in openSUSE Tumbleweed for a while now and haven't had a single issue so far. Just had to make sure I made a few necessary settings changes and it's been good.

Kubuntu still has Plasma 5.6 or something right? I'm on 5.8 on Manjaro, it's perfect. I had some screen tearing with my RX 460 when it was really new, but I fixed it by setting it to fullscreen repaints. Most optimized DE I've seen in terms of animations, ran at a smooth framerate on my old HD 6450 while GNOME3 and even KDE4 was laggy as fuck.

I just notice such a minor difference in my productivity from DE to DE and even OS to OS once the system is completely done being configured. Which takes me forever like most of us I would think. My primary program be it a browser or game or editor goes on my main monitor maximized. Communication programs go on the right monitor. Music or secondary browser go on the left. Very little changes be it gnome, kde, xfce, or windows.
Now on my laptop this is totally different as I am restricted to one monitor and an inferior pointing device. I have found that gnome is the most intuitive for keyboard based UI navigation suorisingly. I don't use my laptop very much though

I found this kick-ass KDE desktop online. Is it still possible to make KDE look a bit like Windows Vista (sort of like the picture) but with the minimalism of ? The current state of the default KDE theme reminds me of Windows 7/10 (which is looks really bulky for me in my opinion).
Right now, I am using Pantheon (Elementary OS) because the DE looks kick-ass.

Using KDE on Antergos here too. Works great.
My (plain) Arch install died a few months ago after drunkenly --force ing some things I really shouldn't have, so was on my spare Windows 10 drive just to give it a shot, and play nuDoom. Damn good to be back on KDE. Feels a lot more polished now too.

switched from arch and i3 to kde neon just to try something new. feels comfy and good. everything just werks. a few tweaks to KDE and I got a decent ram usage with the tweaks that I i want.
btw kde neon is just ubuntu 16.04 with the kde 5 plasma packages up to date. they are going to do base updates whenever ubuntu does it
noticed that ram usage is a little higher that normal and that's because this isn't after a fresh boot. Prob has some chromium nonsense running the background even though I closed out of the browser. A fresh boot will use around 630 mb of RAM.
