mods have kabie-lake? respect..
>who unpaid shill here???
kaby lake has i3 that are more powerful than i5s. You don't hear that everyday
damn straight
>a newer processor is faster than an old one
Given how Broadwell-E managed to have slower single core performance than Haswell-E, that's actually an accomplishment coming from Intel
That's pretty much the only interesting part of the whole generation for the regular consumer. Kaby Lake i5's and i7's do not really have much, if any, incentives to make you get it over Skylake, which is a shame for Intel.
I still don't feel like upgrading from my 4.7GHz 4790K is worth it. Maybe if I could just get a CPU upgrade, but spending the money for an entire platform upgrade, for an extra 10% if I can get one of these to 5GHz+? Nah. I'll probably be upgrading when something with 6+ cores is out that has better IPC and can OC at least as high.
>being excited about a product makes you a shill
Jesus, I'm not even a big fan of intel, but that is the dumbest fucking reasoning I've seen all day.
Just fucking kill yourself already.
being excited for an overpriced product that doesn't offer any significant advantage over what's already been available for the past 5 years does make you a shill, yes
That's barely 3 generations old, you shouldn't even think about upgrading, and even if you did you should move horizontally, not vertically (to a 4930K, for example)
I'm currently 6 generations behind (1366) and still don't feel like I need to upgrade.
No, it fucking doesn't.
When will you retards get it through your head that some people just like getting new things, regardless of the improvement over a previous model. Yeah, maybe it could be classified as a "waste of money" by some people, but it is a lot harder to put a dollar amount on the value of the thrill of getting a brand new X.
For a board full of people who have benefited pretty enormously from capitalism and commercialism, you guys sure do fucking hate it a lot.
Intel would like to defy the laws of physics but it can't
so I plan on switching from amd to intel in the coming months but I just have one question.
Are kabylake processors going to require me to upgrade to win10(win7 currently)? I just happen to overhear it in one of my labs from some from class mates. Just wanted to ask you guys if this was true or not.
>tfw still using Ivy Bridge with no plans to upgrade soon
Preach
Pretty sure that's true.
They will probably still run windows 7, but with degraded performance. So they might as well just not.
Eh, the most demanding things I run are video games, so I wouldn't switch back to a 4930K since going to Ivy would actually be a step back in IPC and even mobo features, I might not be able to hit 4.7GHz either. If anything the "horizontal" CPU to go for would be a Xeon E5-1650V3, basically a 5930K. I'll probably keep using my 4790K until Cannonlake or w/e it's called comes out, supposedly Intel might actually go 6 core for their "mainstream" line starting with that. I'll see what Ryzen actually brings to the table too.
I love the license that comes with this sticker, as if it would holdd up in court
