Why does everyone shit on Seagate?

I've had three for 5 years, not one failure. Enjoy your loud WD and Hitachi drives though :^)

stop posting traps you faglord

Because they're shitters that don't understand economies of scale and proper RAID/backup.

Seagate is used everywhere in the industry because while the drives last less long than WD/HGST, the price difference more than makes up for it. When you have 100,000 drives, all you care about is how much you have to spend per year on replacement drives.

>Enjoy your (...) Hitachi drives
Thank you, I will

mother of god

stop posting criminals you edgelord

>using the smiley with a carat nose

High failure rate

I can personally attest to that.

succ

>Not Toshiba

They break literally as soon as the warranty is up.

Fuck Seagate.

>unironically taking the bait

>Feminine Penis

Seagate is cute

Isn't Seagate owned by WD now?

>why
because Seagate is shit.

>works on my system
good for you fag

They released some drives that had terrible failure rates and haven't really recovered.

>I have 3 no failures
Whoa mate u have really huge sample space

>Fast
lol no that's not how it works

>Quiet
>harddisk
>quiet

>Inexpensive
There's literally like dollars worth of difference

>Solid two year warranty
Depending on what model you have, WD and HGST offers up to 5 years.

>Dead Drives
Yes, failure rate is common I personally had 2 Barracudas that lasted for 1 and the other was 3 years, used only for backup and the HDD were rarely spinning, in the end it wasn't corruption but the mechanical components that were the issue.

I have a WD 80GB from 2006, has over 30,000 of power on time and it still works to this day, Hitachi too with a 2.5 HD from 2009 still working as well.

Obvious Seagrenade shill.

I've got some old pipeline drives I've pulled out of sky boxes and they work surprisingly well. They're pretty fast too

>The hard disks can't be quiet meme

I can't hear my WD reds or blues

>something hasn't happened to me so it doesn't happen to anyone

>When you have 100,000 drives, all you care about is how much you have to spend per year on replacement drives.

Uh huh. And when you have only 4 drives, all you care about is that they don't fucking die within a year in the first place.

I can tell you've never been a dba

>>Solid two year warranty
disgusting. who's dumb enough to buy an hdd without 5 year warranty at the very least?

Tiene más?

Que tremendo puto

>have both

>Hitachi on laptop and it's fucking loud.

>WD on main desktop
Never hear a sound

those teeth ruin it 4 me

...

>I've had three for 5 years, not one failure

clearly none of those were the 3TB models. i currently have a fuckton of the 4TB seagate's in my nas boxes right now, but the 3TB's were terrible. i'd say i've had at least half a dozen die over the last few years. they're trash. the 4TB's have been humming along like champs, though.

>>B-But m-muh dead drives.

well THERE'S your problem

This

if your a home user that does not raid then WD is the better buy

if you have a large array in RAID and you cycle lots of data then Seagate gives your the better perf/dollar

Thats what seagate exists but if your a home user you are still a retarded faggot for buying one.

OP said he wants something quiet, Seagate are quiet, at least for 7200

>WD black 2TB
>makes insane amount of noise
>figure its fine
>one day starts slowing down and making ticks
>backup and RMA immediately
>this is only after new drive makes weird noise when powering up/down but is quiet when running
WD is a meme, I got a 3TB Seagate Compute that is only marginally slower than my WD black, and it was 40 bucks cheaper than the 2TB drive as well.

One good thing about WD is that their RMA services are on point and I got my new drive within like a week of making the ticket.

Because most people here dont know anyting about comuputers and saw a retarded benchmark from some tech company that ripped consumer drives from USB external cages and shoved them into abnormal conditions and noted they died faster than high end WDs.

But Thats not a girl...like by definition

Stop posting that ugly fucking bitch

>3tb
>seagate
start copying your files now, m8. failure is a comin'

guys it's a trap

that just makes it better lad

Memes.

I have one of the "notoriously unreliable" 7200.11s that was "guaranteed" to shit the bed and lose all my data within a year.

It's been running almost continuously for over 7 years (63400 power on hours in SMART) and counting. Meanwhile, I've got a stack of dead Western Digital drives including a Raptor that didn't even last two years. Never take what Sup Forums tells you seriously without doing your own research.

Yep, I made the mistake of buying one of those.

the new ones might be ok tho
