Are PLANAR MAGNETICS overrated? Currently on EQ'd porta pros
Juan Hill
No
Nicholas Flores
The opiniom on HE 400i is mostly good, check on amazon if they are still 250
Cooper Peterson
I dunno man, I have a pair of the cheapest decent planars you can get (Fostex T50RP MKIII) and I prefer them overall any day of the week over the AKG K702 I had previously. The AKG were good headphones, and had some advantages, but I like the sound "character" of the Fostex better.
Down the road I'll probably pick up a higher end pair of planars.
Ayden Fisher
why do you prefer them. And do they eq well
Chase Gonzalez
>Budget $400 or less >Location US >Source PC, no Amp >Type of headphone Full >Open or closed Closed >Comfort level Comfort over sound >Sound Signature Neutral
Btw, the $200 and over guide on the wiki is dead
Adrian Williams
So how's the bass on these? Currently own the K712s
Benjamin Collins
Check HyperX out, give him the pink ones if you really hate him
Dominic Nguyen
A slightly more v-shaped response, better extension into low bass, less fatiguing mids. All subjective stuff. I'm not saying the Fostex are better headphones than the AKG, but they're better suited to my tastes.
The headband system on the AKG is a little better and they were so light, comfy, and open that it was easy to forget you were wearing them once you got immersed in something.
The Fostex feel a little bulkier, and the adjustment system is a little more awkward. The stock pads weren't very comfortable for me so I replaced them with MrSpeakers Alpha Pads. The new pads actually improved the sound in my opinion, and made them extremely comfortable. I posted a long ass review on the pads on the MrSpeakers website so go read that if you're interested.
They are more isolated, so it can make verbally communicating with people in the room a little more difficult. I sometimes find myself sliding one cup off my ear to talk to my room mate or whatever. You don't forget you're wearing them the way I did with the AKG, but that's not really a bad thing.
I added a ModMic and they've been great for listening to music and playing vidya.
Andrew Reyes
As to EQ'ing well, I haven't eq'd them. I had my AKG eq'd to reduce the mids a little bit and a slight boost to low bass, but these pretty much fit my preference without it.
Brayden Perez
My gf says she's getting me HD 598's for Christmas
did she do well, Sup Forums?
Liam Moore
If you have a gaming pc card then buy the hd600, you dont need an amp, if you want you can buy a dac/amp, origen+ is my rec, the hd600 are both ultra confy and great sounding
Jayden Garcia
Are they the closed back?
Nolan Hill
post yfw its the cs edition
Carson Stewart
Yes those are solid headphones for someone new to decent audio.
Give her a good fugging.
Tyler Russell
no the open back
Adam Myers
Ive been shitting up these threads looking for someone who owns T50rp Mkiiis
How is the low end on them, and what pads are you using? Modded at all? And how bad do they leak?
Isaac Barnes
Didn't scroll to see But still how's leaking, and mods?
Adam Perry
OriGen+ and fiio e17k
I mostly likely need dual output cable or cord for aux connections
Austin Myers
You're welcome!
Carter Nelson
Your GF is pretty cool, is the pop colored or the special edition?
Tyler Howard
stop shitposting any day
Leo Rodriguez
NFB-11 took 3 days to ship, 5 days total to buy the thing its ok
Noah Rivera
Why do people buy HiFiMans when their build quality is that of a toy at Toyrs R Us for like 200-400 dollars
Nathan Allen
Because the only thing that trully matters, if you're not a retard that somehow manages to drop heaphones on the ground, is the sound quality
Isaiah Thompson
you 2 m8 :^)
Wyatt Phillips
hd800 or k812?
Jaxson Scott
HD 800
Ryan Thompson
K812
Tyler Nelson
>hifiman
Oliver Lee

Angel Johnson
>wangblows 10
Easton Fisher
>off-topic post how did you know straight away? you use it too.
Juan Sanchez
i, of course, use windows 10 and i didn't like the stock viewer so i went to look for alternatives.
Josiah Scott

Tyler Barnes
>tfw for even considering about wanting a girl friend
Jordan James
Hey guys,
What you thinking about ATH-WS1100iS? have you ever listened to them?
If you're looking for bassy headphones just fill out a form already. Watching you ask the exact same question with no replies every thread is getting cringy.
Ian Lee
>If you're looking for bassy headphones just fill out a form already ??
Owen Wilson
Sorry, let me rephrase: Just fill out a form already.
Joshua Ross
>Just fill out a form already ??????
Carter Hernandez
are you sure?
Isaac Cox
Bought these today for 45 euros, did i do good?
Ian Sullivan
yes
Elijah Perez
Do you not read the OP of every thread you post in or just this one?
I checked like 8 pairs and all seemed to be horribly outdated
James Long
Because joker focuses on IEMs, while /hpg/ seems mostly interested in over-ear headphones.
He's probably the best IEM reviewer around, though.
Austin Fisher
heyyy, that's the list i discovered the audio technica m50x from. No regrets. Although, I feel if I ever get new headphones from these m50s, it's going to have to be a price hike and a move into cans that require an amp and what not because these are by far the best for the dollar I've experienced.
Grayson Lopez
you could get xpt100 & have an upgrade
Oliver Bell
What makes the Xpt100 better than the AT m50x? Genuinely curious in the comparison as I own the m50x and have never listened to an xpt100.
are you a nigger? if not, consider xpt100/hm5 if you are, I don't know of any good very bass heavy headphones in that range
Juan Williams
Wasn't that takstar discontinued a shitzillion years ago?
Nicholas Thomas
>Budget 150-250 >Location USA >Source PC, can purchase amp if necessary >Type of headphone full >Open or closed open >Comfort level comfy, hours of use >Sound signature anything that goes well with lo-fi and pop >Past headphones Logitech G35
Daniel Kelly
>lo fi >Lo-fi music (from the term "low fidelity") is lower quality of sound recordings than the usual standard for modern music.
just get beats by dr dre for that authentic lower quality sound, bro
Matthew Perez
No still available on gearbest and the likes.
Benjamin Price
fidelio x2s all the way
Ayden Collins
Buy from Amazon Warehouse deals or a high rated ebay seller by the way, warehouse deals are really good, ebay is cheaper but not as easy to return if something does go wrong. There's one for 175 on ebay right now, can't be touched at that price
Benjamin Lopez

>Past headphones DT990
Something like the DT990 but without the treble peaks.
Isaac Thompson
Beyerdynamic, DT770, 880, or 990.
770's are canny, 880's are a meme and 990's aren't flat. But they are all great headies.
Jaxson Morales
>But they are all great headies. And they all stab your ear drums with treble
Jason Gonzalez
Do I need an amp for it?
Angel Hughes
no
Blake Martin
nope
Nathaniel Gonzalez
I just transitioned from Grado SR80's to 990's YOU DON'T KNOW TREBLE NIGGA. I KNO TREBLE.
Angel Nelson
Jesus, and I thought the AKGs were already treble heavy
Isaiah Miller
The 990 pro's are actually kinda bass heavy, the mids are a bit recessed but the treble isn't sheer ear rape like unmoded Grado 60/80's are. I haven't listened to any AKG's in a while but my buddy has some k702's and if I recall correctly the 990's sound reminiscent of them.
John Torres
I've owned both the 702s and the DT990s. The 702s are less sibilant, the 990s were unbearable
David Price
598 or 558? The 598 are a lot cheaper. Are they worse?
Justin Rodriguez
how are the 990s? i was trying to look for something that had some bass but everything else wasn't shit and considering 770 or m-100s but i was hoping for open and started to notice the 990s
Julian Long
I know this is going to come off as a meme, but what are some good noise cancelling IEMs? Looking at Bose but not sure if there's something better for the pricepoint.
Adrian King
There was actually an anime girl wearing ATH-AD700s?
What refined taste.
Jordan Sanders
I don't get it, how can the build quality of HiFimans be dogshit but the sound quality is considered top-notch? Should the two not be mutually exclusive to some degree?
Levi Williams
I love my 598s, super comfortable and they look pretty good until you wear them every single day all day long (you can almost forget you're even wearing them at times) and they fall apart on you.
Benjamin Martinez
What they really need to make is interactive graphs rather than resizing graphs with 10 overlapping lines so that you can't read them properly anymore.
Juan Foster
mfw using quality headphones and a dac/amp for the first time
K7XX and fiio e10k are great. Thanks for the help last week /hpg/
Brandon Lewis
Just bought these. How fucked am I?
ATH-M40x's
Tyler Bailey
I have them, they're a very nice pair and the only thing I dislike about them is the poor height adjusters.
Logan Butler
o neat. what would i need to power them though?
wish i could try the headphones i've been looking at ahead of time
Austin King
Are the Beyerdynamics any good quality-wise? This thin piece of plastic looks pretty weak in photos.
Nicholas Walker
its metal
Christopher Fisher
Ah. Well I'm defenitely considering these then. Thank you
Levi Ramirez
did i just get memed?
Brody Myers
>its ok
so you got memed? im thinking about the project Polaris amp.
