Who here never upgrading from their 2016 phone until bezelless phones? A 5.2in mi mix is perfect.
Tyler Anderson
>Muh bezels
Brayden Martin
Today I learned that normies do not care about having a clean android at all. I guess I'm an autist now.
Zachary Morgan
Bezels are nice though. Can't use a bezel less phone with one hand.
Brayden Reyes
I mean, within reason, obviously.
Around 75% screen to body ratio is nice
Nathan Robinson
>Budget: ~$700 >Location United States >Carrier T-Mobile >Features just finishing up my paying off my Note 5, I love the S-Pen. Something similar without the exploding battery would be nice.
John Scott
HTC 10 or ZTE Axon
Luis Foster
Is this good?
Jeremiah Gray
Why are you shopping a 2016 flagship against an ancient 2015 phone with housefire sd801 SoC?
Leo Walker
htc 10 or oneplus 3t?
Dominic Torres
Any reason to upgrade over an S Advance? Are new phones better quality?
>Cyanogen Inc shutting down by the end of the year
NO NO NO
NO FUCKING WAY, WHAT WILL I DO NOW?
I BOUGHT MY PHONES BASED ON WHETHER THEY HAD OFFICIAL CYANOGENMOD SUPPORT OR NOT, NOW I WILL HAVE TO EITHER FULLY TAKE THE CORPORATE COCK IN THE ASS AND DEAL WITH A SHITTY, UNOPTIMIZED, LAGGY UI OR RISK USING A SHITTY PAJEET ROM WHERE NOTHING BUT THE HOMESCREEN AND SETTINGS WORK FOR THE FIRST 20 RELEASES/UPDATES
FUCK
I guess from now on its only HTC and Motorola phones for me, and thats if HTC doesnt die halfway through and the Motorola name dissapears and gets fully absorbed by lelnovo.
Cameron Anderson
Yeah. Plenty reason.
Even inexpensive phones like a rmn3p or a Zuk Z2 will be a massive upgrade in every way possible
Ryder Baker
Cyanogen inc. is kill.
Cyanogenmod is community driven, so it's no kill.
Joshua Long
This.
Plus you'll always have other shizzwizz like RR or slim or LePajeet
Landon White
The point is: I don't see the point in huge 5-6" battery draining smartphones; I don't play games on my phone have no need to watch videos except when neded. Additionally, newer phones look very flimsy and fragile while the s advance has given me no problem whatsoever..
Anyway, if it takes off i look forward to shitposting with you from my future HTC 22 running LineageOS 12.
Lucas Murphy
Those huge "battery draining" phones have better battery life than the smaller phones because the extra space is mainly used on bigger battery.
Ethan Peterson
>•However, CyanogenMod will rebrand as LineageOS. So it's nothing. they'll continue with a shittier name.
Also RR and Mokee are better anyways so whatever.
Connor Fisher
good point. but what are the other specs for? driving high dpi screens and smoother response times? aside from better optics
Dylan Clark
>>just finishing up my paying off my Note 5, I love the S-Pen. Something similar without the exploding battery would be nice. what the fuck is wrong with americans?
you can't even afford a phone straight up and you want to change it the moment you're done paying for it? why do americans love living in debt so much?
Bentley Roberts
Keeping up with The Jones.
Brody Perez
Well zuk z2 has a snapdragon 820 paired with a 1080p screen so it gets better performance and battery life than most flagships.
The xiaomi has a slightly bigger screen and battery but weaker and more efficient SoC so it's a matter of what you prefer. If camera matters though, avoid xiaomi, but if battery life is a priority it might be the better choice.
Jaxon Collins
So back in the day, I went full autism with my online persona and made a stack of different identities. It wouldn't be a problem now but I'm still actually using a good chunk of them because I can quit the communities, and thankfully I managed to keep them out of my personal and professional lives so that nobody could link the stupid shit I did/do/said back then back to me (yet).
But managing the identities from a desktop sort of sucks. I've tried consolidating all the traffic and correspondence onto one account several times (e.g. redirect them to one Gmail account, make one mail client manage the couple dozen e-mail accounts, etc.) but that shit never worked for me because some accounts get more traffic than others and I always forget to check/respond to others so they get lost in the cracks, keep catching myself accidentally sending mail from the wrong account, etc. What HAS worked is just having a set of phones, one for each. I have one shitty ZTE speed I bought last year on a whim for one account, and my personal stuff on a different phone, and swapping between the two's worked great so far.
I'm starting a new job now, but the new job is asking me to get on the social media bandwagon and basically made me sign up for like 10 different social media and work communication services so I need a new phone since I made a new identity for that, obviously. What are some decent Android Lollipop or better phones that I can buy multiples of without breaking the bank? $50-$100 range maybe? I might've considered just using my personal identity but all those social media apps are going to bog down my personal phone. If the third phone works out though, I might just start migrating all my shit to individual phones so that I can stop worrying.
tl;dr >Budget: $50-$100 per phone maybe? Not including extra lines for each. >Carrier: T-Mobile (optional but I'm thinking of upgrading to a family plan + get extra lines) >Location: Clapistan >Features Lollipop or newer
Parker Campbell
moto x play for 170€ yay or nay?
region is Europe and carrier doesnt really matter ill be traveling a lot
Gabriel Jenkins
I need to recover a delete video file off my rooted note 5.
I'm on linux, and the phone has been shut down since the deletion.
I'm reading that it's certainly possible using photorec but it needs the internal storage to be mounted as exactly that, mass storage and not MTP etc. I don't know how to do that.
I can use the android SDK to make a dump of the internal storage and then mount that, but still, I don't know how to do that. How do I make an image of the internal memory and have it saved on my PC?
I'm hoping for a shortcut/fast guide for this. Anything?
Benjamin White
Are slimroms good? I was thinking about installing it on my RN3P. What initially caused me to be interested in the ROM is the lack of pajeets working it and instead mostly Americans.
Protip, if your job asks you to sign up to facebook, twitter or something dumb like that it isnt worth it, the most those guys should ask of you is using a certain IM app to keep in contact with you since they seem allergic to regular calls and sms or maybe just too broke for it.
Isaiah Diaz
Why does it matter who made the rom as long as it's good?
Sebastian Thompson
Blu R1 HD or Moto G4 Play.
Mason Walker
>tfw android will never ever getting new update
>tfw xiaomi redmeme without latest stable cm14.2
Ian Allen
No. RN3P or Zuk Z2. Moto G4 if you wanna stay in Moto family.
Jace Edwards
Ehh, I don't mind. They didn't make me use my personal account, and this way I can have a new public-facing professional front. I was going to sign up for some anyway but I was waffling on how I'd do it until the new job asked me to just basically sign up for all of them at once. Also nobody bats an eye if a person has a work phone and a personal phone.
What I'm more curious about is if anybody uses the T-Mobile family plans for multiple lines or if I can do better than the $70/mo + $20/mo per line for 4G that they have on their website.
Isaiah Garcia
Isn't that the one with no headphones?
Easton Nguyen
Going to the beach soon.
Anyone keen on more camera samples from zuk z2 pro?
Will be there till evening so I can also do low light shots.
Thomas Martinez
Sure how about video samples too to check stabilization.
Tyler Price
Sure.
Any idea how to webm them on my phone?
I didn't bring a laptop.
I also brought a Nexus 5 to compare it to.
Leo Thomas
that's not a zuk z2.....
Ryder Russell
Re-read my post.
Daniel Rivera
Don't think you can do that on mobile. need to convert on pc. just upload to sendvid.com/
Jonathan Davis
Got a Moto Z Droid for $120 on a Best Buy deal. Any anons with it? Thoughts? Best battery mod (one with wireless charging).
Lack of headphone jack sucks but willing to let it go considering the specs for the price. May even try to flip it for trade in for an iPhone 7 to sell or Pixel XL to use on Verizon.
Zachary Edwards
I'll just convert and upload when i get home. From my laptop
>Budget: None >Location United States >Carrier AT&T >Features Dual Active Sim
Carson Martin
>higher price tag + canadian customs >ships in 4 weeks >marginally better (heh) we'll see about it
Lucas Watson
also i like the finger print sensor on the back :)
Christopher Edwards
I got the Galaxy J3. Can I be part of the Android master race?
Adrian Wright
So you're budget is 0? You need to get your priorities straight.
Lucas Thompson
2017 or 2016 edition
Kevin Torres
So i was going to get a target consumer wireless moto g4 play for 100$ and slap a custom rom on it. Seems like a great deal and it provides all the phone I need but my major issue is i learnedit doesnt have a notification LED and this is knd of a deal breaker for me.
Anyone with one of the Moto phones that don't have an LED that can comment on how Moto's active display shit functions and if they miss having an LED?
Anthony Flores
If you have infinite budget then you should just buy every phone and stick with the one you like the most
Gavin Anderson
Recently bought a Note 4 how can I anime-ify it up more i want anime girls everywhere
I bought a lg optimus l90 a six months ago for $90.
It's fucking shit.
Two days after I bought it the screen cracked.
I used it for about 4 months with stock rom. 1 GB ram made pokemon go crash all the time.
On the stock factory rom the phone app would occasionally crash at random!
The cell reception is garbage. I live across the street from a fucking cell tower and it barely gets one bar if it is connected at all.
I flashed cyanogenmod--- not much difference.
Under cyanogenmod, if you changed the lock screen wallpaper to a large picture, the lockscreen (and nothing else) would become unusably laggy. Trying to change the wallpaper back to something normal would crash the wallpaper picker. I fixed it by factory-resetting (because I installed secDroid and could no longer use ADB).
This is what I get for buying a 3 year old phone without checking the specs.
######
I'm now contemplating buying a Moto g4 Play as a replacement because it has 2gb of ram. My budget is about $150 and I don't usually need much of anything besides the ability to occasionally use google maps over the network data.
Whatever phone I get I hope to not need to replace until it breaks. (I still have a working nokia 6230).
I'm in the usa using usmobile (which piggybacks off of t-mobile)
Isaac Ramirez
So CyanogenMod users, what will you do now that CM is kill? Wait for Lineage (dumb name, but whatever) or switch to a different ROM?
Jacob Hughes
Are there any other ROMs that are not pajeet tier?
Ethan Thomas
the are already trips repos for my phone in lineage github organisation, with CM 14.1 branch. I'm thinking of building one from source code myself.
Josiah James
Yeah it's miles better, go get it. it was $99 a few days ago on deal.
Michael Reyes
Active display means the phone lights up to show you the time whenever it detects your sausage fingers near its body or when it detects any vibration.
I disabled that shit immediately because all it does is waste battery (i live right next to a road where cargo trucks drive through every night), its just a tiny amount but this means that i can fully charge it just before i go to sleep and wake up after 8-9 hours with the phone at 98% instead of 94%, both times with wifi on and with f-droid and tachiyomi updating every 3 hours.
The Moto G 2016 line (G4, G4+, G4P) does have a notification led, its just hidden and disabled, with root you can use an app to enable it but only when its plugged and charging, there is also a rom for the G4+ that does use the notification led for notifications but its still buggy and only for that device, and since the led was disabled and never considered for actual use in the first place this means its huge, practically a low lumen flashlight instead of a tiny dot flashing every few seconds.
If the little led is that important to you and your budget is 100 dollars you might want to consider getting a Huawei P8 Lite, one of my nieces has it and its pretty good, the only disadvantage is having an absolutely disgusting stock rom and non removable smaller battery.
I have had several phones with notification light and after switching to a G4P i can tell you that i really dont see the advantage of one, but then again when my only notifications are obscure niche youtuber uploading part 20 of weeaboo game and my room is pitch fucking black when you close the door its no wonder i dont miss it.
Lucas Thompson
alrighty. i want a new phone. currently i have a s5 running cm14.1. i dont really need a flagship phone but what im looking for is this: >amoled screen or something similarly efficient with long screen on times >decent camera for general use >replacable battery >expandable storage with msd cards >unlocked bootloder/Recovery so i can flash custom roms >nfc >headphone jack >has hardware decoder/encoder >cpu/gpu that does not overheat when running at max clock optional things: >nfc not built into battery >fm radio module >a wifi module that is does more than just b/g/n >1080p screen
Gavin Reed
Buy the redmi note 3 pro from xiaomi. I've had mine for 2 months and it's literally perfect.
Ryan Hughes
arent the chinkphones known for being backdoored to hell and back and cant be flashed? im looking it up currently and it seems decent specswise. the 32gb limit on microsd cards seems to be werid though.
Jonathan Diaz
be honest lads:
galaxy s4 or iphone 6s?
Cameron Long
s5
Gavin Martin
iphone 6s desu in this case.
Alexander Lewis
replacing my old ass lg g stylo for a oneplus 3t is it a good idea m8s?
Levi James
Nah xiaomi has no backdoors it's cool.
Plus there's a flawless cm14 rom too. Just don't buy zuk and you're good.
Lincoln Gutierrez
yes
Dominic Powell
Do you encrypt your smartphones? Why or why not?
Jaxson Thompson
Can i get away with a 16GB iPhone SE? I have a 8GB S4 mini now with 500MB left, though iPhones pictures will be higher res
Kayden Bennett
No.
Kayden Sanders
Why do people even buy chinkphones if they don't live in ching-chong land? Do you guys enjoy 2G or some shit? I don't get it.
Colton Smith
is it fine to wipe the /Data partition if im completely flashing a new rom? the issue for me is somehow my phone has like 16 GB internal memory but with a fresh install i have like maybe 2gb free. i assume this is from previous roms as i have had this phone for a long time. if i were to go into twerp and do a full wipe of every file and partition could that hurt my phone in any way? its a gs5 klte variant.
Jordan Carter
They're good and inexpensive.
> Do you guys enjoy 2G or some shit? They've supported 4G for years now (no problem here because like most of the world other than the USA, this place in Europe HAS phone operators operating some of the global LTE bands).
OTOH I actually also don't care much, yes. Hopping WLAN is cheaper and faster in most cases.
Sebastian Wilson
>Budget: ~£170 or less >Location UK >Carrier 3 >Features Prefer 5", can compromise for bigger Would like something with a tough screen, and the ability to repair Micro SD would also be nice Hardware/Software decoding
Is the Mi5 over priced?
Jonathan James
My zuk z2 pro gets 4g, 3g, and 2g network here.
Do you enjoy having outdated beliefs?
Eli Rivera
> Is the Mi5 over priced? Not really.
But the "ability to repair" is as limited as on virtually every other phone. And you picked one of the Xiaomis without microSD. It'd be more like a Redmi4 / Redmi Note 3 or 4 / Mi Max or something if you want microSD.
There also are a dozen non-Xiaomi chinkphones that would apply.
Compared to stuff you can get local it's pretty good value, but if you're on a budget this should be the better choice.
Aiden Scott
maybe lg g5
Landon Allen
Well really I just mean the ability to buy a replacement screen. I can again compromise on the micro SD if internal storage is big enough.
I'm upgrading from a Xperia M2. Redmi4 Pro or is the price difference enough to justify the Mi5? Do I want to get Zukked though? I can't tell where the shitposting ends.
Jacob Cruz
It's probably worth it to wait for new 835 snapdragon smartphones, right? Apparently to what qualcomm says the chip will be far more energy efficient than the 821.
Samuel Bailey
> moto x pure > htc axon 7 > nexus 6
I hab budget of 300 In america T mobile
Mason Nguyen
Any advice on buying chinkphones? I'm looking to get a ZUK Z2 to use in the US but it supposedly doesn't get OTA Android updates due to the reseller-added custom ROM. Is there a way to work around this?
Gabriel Barnes
>get zukked What? It's not shitposting, it's a better budget option than the mi5. Check YouTube reviews if you want to see people actually using it on camera.
I never understood this shitposting crap. It's just another good budget option like the redmi note 3 pro
You can unlock it and flash zui super easily. There's guides on zukforums as well as global zui roms.
Daniel Ross
What chinkphone has the best cm support(and is cheaper than OP3). Just flashed it on friend's mi5 and ended up with left and right buttons not working and spotty LTE(not to mention the bootloader unlocking process, ugh) so it's out of the question.
Tyler Miller
You're SUPPOSED to wipe data. It's only apps and their storage. Your actual files are on the "internal storage" partition.
Leo Richardson
Did you install cm14 or cm13? Cm14's been out a little over a month for the Xiaomi so it'll still be a while before it's ready for daily use. Out of Xiaomi phones I know at least the Mi Max and RN3P also get official cyanogenmod roms.
