Just follow the directions?

>games with 50 year old graphics
so... this is the power of linux...

Nobody knows how to play it on windows either so for once your retardation can be forgiven.

I've been playing it on windows for almost a year now, i just wanted to play it on my work machine wich has ubuntu.

you need some 32-bit libraries installed.
dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2014:Installation#Debian-based

do... you know... how retarted... it looks... when you... type... like this...?

>tfw to inteligent for dwarf fortres

It's actually really complex fampai

This...senpai

>to
>fortres

>Falling for le bait

>being this new

I wasn't even to figure it out either OP, I'm too retarded for this shit, I can't even open the executable kek

If you figure it out post it here

Ebin memes xp

>75, 76

You guys are destined

I tried playing with it once but I gave up after half an hour because I had absolutely no idea what was going on
how do you even play this game?

...

This is literally everyone at the start user, everything looks confusing anf the game seems tedious, but once you get the very basics it starts to get fun

once you get used to the horrible interface it's kindda easy actually

>horrible

It jus werks desu

You download the linux version and run it?

wew

Lazy newb pack, Linux one. Literally what it says on the box.

>"Didn't you read the manual? He he he he... the manual... ..."

use the comand ldd:

ldd /bin/ls
linux-vdso.so.1 (0x00007ffdda3f9000)
libcap.so.2 => /usr/lib/libcap.so.2 (0x00007f810b0a2000)
libc.so.6 => /usr/lib/libc.so.6 (0x00007f810ad04000)
/lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x00007f810b2a6000)

it will tell you the missing libraries and you have to install them
It can be that you have a wrong or incomplete $PATH variable

Follow the basic tutorial on the wiki, find an easy beginner spot, dig a small place for a farm, build kitchen and a still, dig a place for the fuckers to sleep, build a room for workshops, build carpentry workshop, build beds, learn how to place objects. You learn as you play, so just follow the bloody tutorial.

Post Fortress
mine is best one
...

Cool, how do you make that?

It's like viewing the source code for the Matrix. It takes a certain amount of time before you start seeing actual things instead of just random gibberish.

>How the fuck do you play dwarf fortress on Linux?
Pic related is how I play DF on linux. Comes with sweet icon packs preinstalled, dwarf therapist, DFhack, etc. etc.

THEM FUCKING DORFS MAN

pic related: one of my forts.

It's beauty lays in it's complexity.

I remember being dumbfounded when I read one of the recent bugfixes that went something like

>Fixed a bug when occasionally a house cat cleaning itself after walking on a damp tavern floor would die from alcohol poisoning.

DF UI/presentation is shit because the developer is a mathematical autist not an actual game programmer.

I think it's the exact same on Windows, never checked, though.

You install it and play it? Never had any problem with it.

You belong here. :^)

or possibly

this is disgusting, i could not bring myself to play with graphic mods and shit.

you've never played DF, have you?

This was done intentionally. If you want more modern graphics, there are tile sets you can use.

It's pretty dank on ASCII desu senpai
