Just copped my first FPV drone, Eachine wizard x220. It's back ordered though so I have to wait like 2 weeks. Now all I need are a nice pair of goggles. What are you guys flying?

So, OP, tell me what FPV is.
Faggot Patrol Vehicle
First person View, Flying a drone with goggles linked to a camera live streaming what the drone sees. AKA the sport/videogame fusion of the future
is it on sale?
Cool, thanks
It's called First Person Perspective.
OP you made the same mistake as I did and ordered a set.
eventually you'll replace every single part with one that's actually good.
as for the glasses, i fly fatshark dominator v2. it's great, except the battery is tiny and VRX module is expensive for what it is.
get a standalone VRX and a big 2-cell li-pol and you're good.
Ordered this yesterday.
$50 for a entry camera drone? Bout F-ing time!
Got an s7 and generic $20 goggles.
With extra battery packs, motor upgrade and fin pack less than $100 to start. Not a bad new hobby.
Going to have to upgrade camera for it if im going to fpv, I know. Low end cams lag but this is my first quad and its more for crashing and pictures.
most goggles people run are Fat Shark
Wait till someone figures out that burning laser pointers can pop small black helium balloons. Multiple cells per craft, lift motors that come into play after boyancy lose. Ballancing power managment with tactics.
Then fpv airship wars can start up.
Those tend to use quite a bit of power.
Seems kinda compact and small.
That was a good quip... in 2006.
>Then fpv airship wars can start up.
Amazon is building countermeasures for their drones aleady
Sounds like a potential investor. Like the millitary and battlebots.
What's a good starter drone for under 130 give or take? Drones look fun but I'm not willing to drop thousands for a Phantom 4, for example. Also it must have a massive battery life.
You aren't going to get a massive battery life drone under that price.
20 minutes is standard.
I just want something that can break 40 minutes. So I can have fun the first time I turn it on and then never use it again.
My thinking is anyone into quads will have a pile of parts. Parts that can be used on an airship that are too worn for the copters anymore.
An indoor arena with ladders and chairs covered in blankets to act as mountain ranges/cover. Maybe a fan or two to create a "jet stream" through the battlefield. Fog machine for the ground level to hide in.
Operators in a seperate room. Camera veiw only with additional spotter cameras mounted in the terrain. Run by other crew making team work and communication key to victory.
A slow ballet of death to counter ballance the intensity of racing.
Could be good filler for competions.
All the most expensive parts can be swapped from your racing rig. Not much of a need for gyros on a airship so control circuits would be simple compared to quads.
I know it sounds nuts but I got a big garrage and even bigger dreams.
I use Dominator V3s with the laforge v2 diversity receiver. best setup you can get for goggles. also ditch that radio and get a Taranis you will thank your self later.
kek
Really cool idea user, genuinely thanks for sharing
Mine's grounded at the moment. The shitty JST connector broke and now I have to crimp some new cables. The damn things are so small that I can't do it.
FPV is the new tech meme of 2017. But its actually cool and not just another shitty quadcopter "drone".
buy a cx-10 with a bunch of extra battery packs
Drones are surprisingly hard to pilot so make sure you have blade protectors.
That's a fucking toy not a drone.
just get the $50 quanum v2's
>I just want something that can break 40 minutes.
You won't get 40 minutes out of a quad.
But that's okay - as a beginner, there is no way you're going to be able to keep a quad in the air for 40 minutes. If you really want to rack up flight time, you may want to consider getting a drone sim.
If you really want long flight times, you are basically stuck flying fixed wing. The good news is that fixed wing is cheaper, has all around higher performance, and is just better in every possible way.
The bad news is that it is more challenging to fly fixed wing.
40 minutes means big slow moving props. building it yourself you should expect to spend thousands of dollars.
you could buy the apple of quads: dji and get about 25-30min
>What are you guys flying
Not flying anything yet.
I've been torn between picking up an Inductrix, going the Tiny Whoop route, or just building something in the ~100-150mm range.
Really the main thing stopping me is the cost of goggles. It seems kinda silly to spend $300 on such a niche piece of equipment.
You love, you lose.
user that is a 3500mAh battery.
tried to build a drone myself a year or so ago..
it was hard as fuck to get it actually in the air and i eventually gave up and threw it away
I put this one together last year. It was so much fun flying this through the woods. I've teared it down to upgrade the electronics after burning out one of the ESCs last autumn.
Were you trying to build one without a flight controller or something?
i used to do 3d heli. been out of the scene for a while. whats with these orange memetenna's ? is it for the analogue video ?
I dunno.
It's just one particular take on a skew planar antenna, which is the most commonly used type nowadays.
Could be for either the video or the control channels.
I just started flying drones
I got a hubsan 4X with camera
Tips for getting started?
i bought one to fool around with and will probably get the smartphone app fpv one. will battery mod it and get 20 minutes worth of flight time from extra batteries. they're cheap quads and easy to fly.
Just get the Cyclops. They're good enough to start with.
Circular polarised antenna for analogue video. Much better than standard whip antenna.
