>try alternatives to pic related
>they're all shit
So is this really the best program for this?
Try alternatives to pic related
...
did you even try cccp or kawaiicp with mpchc? if you did you wouldn't be posting
but wait, you're trolling
>codec packs
>not saging
>with mpchc
Does that magically not make them codec packs?
VLC is superior in only one application: streaming of video streams from a network source.
It's what it was built to do and is legitimately still the best at.
If you want to play local video sources, there are far better alternatives that were made with that application in mind.
>being too dumb for mpv
>he's never used mpv
Tried MPC, it pauses the movie when you click anywhere on the screen, it triggers my autism.
have you tried not clicking on the screen
So tell us whats a better offline player?
VLC plays pretty everything i tried
...
smplayer + mplayer, it just werks, also good for old hardware.
MPC
...
MPC HC + MadVR.
vlc is a shitty video player. It constantly shows fragments and artifacts where none are in the source file. The slower your cpu is, the worse the fragmenting is
its objectively shit
I'd rather be forced to use windows media player
MPV
change the default hotkeys
MPC or MPV or mplayer.
VNC + my anime = shit, On that note, best codec pack to use with MPCHC? Also should I use madvr?
vlc god I'm tired.
no offense guys, but my grandma can play videos and songs on a computer
open the files and press play
for a board full of "tech savvy" people, it's just retarded the stupid shit you talk about
"omg firefox sucks" open firefox, browse the web
"is VLC good?" it's a media player. Open it. Play media.
how fucking stupid is this board, and i expect to see some screen shots of some corrupted file on some shitty install of some shitty distro without the right codecs at some point
or 'screen tearing' 'artifacts' 'audio sync issues'
which brings me back to my first point
my grandma knows how to watch videos and play songs with VLC. why the fuck do you idiots have so much trouble with software?
>not using mpv
shiggy
your grandma probably also has motion stabilization and an incorrect aspect ratio on her tv, too. your grandmother should not be the standard by which you judge the correct use of technology.
No one uses codec packs past 2005, what the fuck are you doing?
MPCHC doesn't need them
>windows
MPC-HC/MPV
>loonix
MPV
>t. guy who needs conduct research to play video files
How well do they handle DVD menus? That's about the only thing I use VLC for these days.
Yep, it works great (:
Not sure, honestly. Haven't used a dvd for videos in over 6 years. The only noticeable difference between the two players is that MPV "has no interface", it does have basic buttons on the windows build (timeline, pause, subs track, audio track) but it still relies on keyboard keys for most things. The reason I moved from VLC was because when I pause a movie for a longer time and resume it, it would make a weird gray graphical glitch. MPV also works kinda better for me overall, I remember having to tweak VLC settings after each install while MPV just works™.
If VLC works for you, stay on it and maybe test out MPV. These are the best 2 media players out there.
VLC is fine for everyday video playback. Usually the biggest whiners about it are weeaboos complaining that their chinese cartoons have minor issues.
Last I checked, MPC-HC skips menus and just plays the content
...
Try potplayer.
I haven't had any issues with it so far
Which episode of a five or six episode DVD is "the content?"
MPC-HC can and does do menus. You might have to use a menu option to load them, can't remember. DVD playback in MPC was always buggy for me though, crashing on seeks and such.
I've since switched to mpv, which at one point had DVD menu support but currently does not.
DVDs almost always have a playlist of every episode back to back (the play all menu option) so that's usually what gets played, as if it were a single 2+ hour file with chapters.
Why the same webm thrice, applefriend?
Potplayer for playback
VLC for my acestream streaming empire. As other anons mentioned it's superior for network streaming
no one was replying to him, kek
mpv is great though
xd
I hate it when I occasionally have to use VLC and I can't play/pause by clicking on the screen.
On the topic: MPC-BE, of course.
You'll understand why when you get with the times and attempt to play HEVC videos on VLC.
Your shitty VLC player does this too, you know.
potplayer or bust
...
This is bullshit, fuck anything but VLC.
VLC is the only major media player that also comes with built-in converters.
constantly requires upgrading because shit breaks every so often, "Rebuilding fonts, this may take a few moments" never fucking finishes kind of bullshit.
realistically, vlc is the worst player of any of the 4 i used, mpv is the best, but not by enough to make me use it over the old standbys
There's no other media player that just werks out of the box. It's why VLC is still so popular. Mpchc needs codec packs installed to work properly while mpv needs a shit ton of configuration.
>DVD
is it 2001 again?
>codec packs
Are you actually retarded?
yea, mpv requires no configuration out of the box, just drag and drop.
same with mpchc, but that may be because I have codec packs for a long as time ago, havent installed it in... want to say over a year, so yea
pot player also has no config needs
vlc is a resource hog, and I can't say much good other then that one time you find a video that nothing else plays, vlc will play it.
that's all its good for, a back up emergency player.
Serious question Sup Forums.
Why must there be constant war over the three main video players, why can't you shills just install all three and use whichever is necessary for the situation?
MPC-HC doesn't have this problem :^)
noob here
I'm only a noob because I've been using vlc for the last 15 years and haven't paid any attention to media players any more.
VLC has had a few random crashes recently and I've noticed that it seeks badly in some videos and if there was something else as good then I could check it out.
mpv is in my repos so I can use it, does it need extra codecs or does it have everything built in like vlc?
>mpv is in my repos so I can use it, does it need extra codecs or does it have everything built in like vlc?
it does have everything and more.
Huh, went to install it and it recommends a youtube downloader.
>VLC is the only major media player that also comes with built-in converters.
the only major media player that cannot display subtitles in black bars natively, despite requests for 15 years
Gom player: wat da fck is dat
VLC: Total idiot
MPC: Young and dumb
MPV: Smart enough setting config file
Mpc-hc plays 4k hevc with a bit rate of above 60 Mbit/sec whitout issue. VLC won't even show a picture.
Ive been using MPCHC for 6 years, and Ive never understood the point of these threads. Am I doing something wrong? Somebody fill me in.
Mpv optionally uses youtube-dl to play youtube videos.
