Screw you, Chas.
>The Speedy Tuesday was sold out
OK dudes, dudlets and dudettes, how many here reserved one??
First for recent purchases.
Really liking the monster, much easier to pull off than it's name suggests.
Still awaiting some watches, and a nato for my Ray.
The perlon is comfy, though the buckle is potmetal tier.
It's almost 2big4u, but it seems to wear fine.
Though it being a 2nd gen pre-prospex Monster i'm assuming you paid between 175~200 for it?
Yeah, in that range. I really didn't want that Prospex logo.
It's pretty comfy. I was thinking of getting a super-engineer, but I think I won't. I already forget I'm wearing it.
>first Explorer II that I bought had the wrong dial
>Second Explorer II was either a fake or had an aftermarket crystal
>Tried buying a B&P Explorer I from some guy on the Rolex forums but he blew the sale by not replying to my emails
>I have now bought an Explorer II for the third time from a NY watch shop and it should be arriving tomorrow.
Please God stop punishing me.
>Explorer II
You deserve this pain.
stop buying online
It was a physical watch shop in my city that sold me the fake one.
do some research before a major purchase.
>do some research before a major purchase.
I did. Everything else looked correct and I didn't notice the crystal looked off until it was pointed out to me.
Although I was admittedly too trusting of an established jewelry store/watch shop especially because they're selling fucking Patek Philippe watches.
I ordered a super engineer for mine, we'll see how it goes.
Trying to stop myself from pulling the trigger on one of these. It looks noooice.
>25 jewel ETA
>DLC coating
>domed sapphire crystal
>Great build quality
>Seriously buying dogshit
>DLC coating
Just get an OVM m8.
Granted it doesn't have a date window and the indices and hands are closer to peach than yellow. But it's not black at the very least.
Also.
>Ocean Black
>OVM hands
Yeh no. Thought the hands looked off-shade, double checked the site.
steinhartwatches.de
Steinmeme are small enough to where they can't justify massive prices, which is why they're a bargain, but they also tend to be well built (I recall one user having a bad time with his fliegar) They're quality movements (Though base ETA, they're still good) I mean, where else do you find an Elaboré pattern 2824-2 within €500? Or anything with comparable accuracy.
If you don't treasure the date window, get an OVM.
If you want the date window, grab an Ocean1 GMT or a Titanium 500 or something.
Every review says they're good though.
Every review says they're great quality, and they're not wrong. If you can look past the objective "Muh homage" meme, there's not much wrong with them beside the usual niggling that someone will find on every watch.
thought of the day
250-500$ is the sweet spot for watches, anything less than 250 might be shitty and more than 500 is frivolty for those with small pp
The OVM has changed, it has a grey face now. If I was buying any other one I'd get the regular ocean 1 black
steinhartwatches.de
Wish it had the domed sapphire crystal instead of the flat one with the cyclops.
I can deal with the whole homage thing.
>beliving in obviously paid reviews about dogshit
lmao
>stupid thought of the day
fixd for you
>every opinion I don't like is a shill
>The OVM has changed, it has a grey face now
I'm well aware, I have an OVM 2.
Personally I find "coated" watches to look god awful, I'd say go for the Ocean Black unless you're really set on the DLC. Domed sapphire shouldn't be the make or break here. More so how the watch will look in everyday wear.
>>beliving in obviously paid reviews about dogshit
I have an OVM. And the reviews are spot on m80.
>lmao
But holy fuck, can Steinshit make a SINGLE design decision of their own without massively fucking it up?! Their watches only look okay to the extent they are straight design copies of other brands. What the fuck.
I like my watch, I think it it'll do the job nicely.
>milsub copy
>no welded lugs
They had one job.
Honestly it's just the grey face I can't deal with. Looks like it might be the regular black 1 then. I'll get more opinions because right now its one vote for the regular black (you) and one vote for the DLC black (gf).
Their original designs are getting there, slowly.
The Military 42 has potential to develop.
Titanium 500 is spot on.
Their Fliegar and infantry pattern watches are as expected, the same as every other Fliegar and infantry watch in existence right now.
Is the job impressing little boys?
>The Military 42 has potential to develop.
Sure, if they throw the dial, hands and crown away, and shave some material off the case.
>Titanium 500 is spot on.
It's a submariner clone with a hand-swap.
Does anyone knows an affordable watch that looks like this? Like an old car speedometer that is.
>It's a submariner clone with a hand-swap.
The defining feature of a submariner, are the hands. You take those away, a watch is just another maxi-dial diver.
If we want to argue MaxiDial=Sub clone, then Seiko have been ripping off rolex for years.
Any Swatch Irony but especially this one
what's your definition of affordable?
autodromo stradale
...
Fucking THIS. The Military 42 is a cartoonishly garish oversized Invicta like take on the genre and the Titanium 500 has hands that prove that Steinshit's designers literally have no idea what watch design elements belong to which genre. Those hands have no business on a diver, they should be on a modern pilot's watch as made by Sinn or Damasko.
nut photo
Paid reviews are a pretty significant online for watches. Anyone have the document, I believe from wornandwound, that shows exact prices to buy reviews and promotions?
>if they throw the dial
This is the biggest problem I've got with it right now, the big, out of place *MILITARY* right there, and the dark red 24 hour time around the very outside. I could stand the 24 hour on the exterior of the dial if it were in white and maybe even lumed.
The dial text could be less soviet though, soften some corners here and there.
>hands
I actually quite like the hands, not the conventional cathedral hands.
>and crown away
Could cut the crown down a bit, agree 100%. But frankly that goes for nearly all infantry or "military" pattern watches, they all tend to fuck up the crown.
>and shave some material off the case.
The lugs don't seem too long, and the case seems relatively slim overall. Honestly not sure what the problem with the case is.
>The defining feature of a submariner, are the hands
It's as if 50 years of "Oyster Perpetual" marketing has entirely passed you by. The reason why the maxi-case was so controversial is because it ruined the proportions of the ONLY constant feature of a Rolex Submariner, and that's the CASE. Rolex themselves have used different hands.
Steinhart's Ocean 1 shares with the Rolex Submariner;
>frontal case profile
>side case profile
>lug design
>indices design (both minutes, and 12, and 3, 6, 9, and the rest, every fucking one)
>dial layout (including specification printing)
>bezel-edge design
>bezel-insert markings
>bezel-insert font
Don't compare Seiko to Steinhart. Seiko are one of the most innovative watch manufacturers on the planet, Steinhart barely have the capability to modify escapements that someone else designed.
Now let's take that list, and mark off what is similar between the Titanium 500 (What we are discussing) and the Sub range.
>Lug design
>Bezel coining (As if this is exclusive to Rolexes)
>atypical maxi-dial indices
>case profiling
No body looks at a Titanium 500 and says
>Hey nice Role-Oh, wait. Sorry.
>Honestly not sure what the problem with the case is.
I just really don't like cases which are straight-cut above 12 and 6. It makes the lugs look like an after-thought.
I like the hands, but I don't think cathedral hands work on a "military" watch.
>I just really don't like cases which are straight-cut above 12 and 6
I'm not sure I follow. Care to elaborate?
Scrap that. I get it now.
Honestly I'm quite the opposite about there being no curvature to the lug innards. I personally can't stand it to where I replace a bracelet with a strap, and there's an obnoxious gap between the strap and the case. The straight cut sort of reduces this. With Hirsch straps especially.
>No body looks at a Titanium 500 and says
>>Hey nice Role-Oh, wait. Sorry.
That's because nobody who owns a Titanium 500 is anyone's bro.
Anybody interested enough in watches will be able to spot a sub from a mile away, and what isn't.
Bro that hurts :(
>Blu lume

that is a pretty sweet bezel
To Buy or not to buy
Also any of yall have experience with creation watches
>Thread is already derailed cause Steinheart shill vs heaters
This is why we can't have nice things.jpg
Also
>Anyone have the document, I believe from wornandwound, that shows exact prices to buy reviews and promotions?
Seconded.
I would really appreciate if someone can provide this document.
It's not affordable, but my GG has a strong influence from racing car's instruments. Pic related

I'm no stickler on how people wear their watches but come on man that just looks wrong.
TGV just posted a Patek review:
youtube.com
I used to hate him but I got accustomated to his style and his vids are always detailed and interesting.
It's looks like your hand just detached from your arm and is being kept in position by the watch. Do you need a sandwich?
Apart from that, nice Hamilton m8.
Can't decide myself between the Ray II and the Mako II.
Orient owners: what do you think? Why did you choose one over the other?
Is the watch hobby a pathological obsession to fill a hole in our soul?
That's all any hobby is
Got the Ray mainly because of the small font on the bezel the Mako has. I think it just looks ridiculous.
I slightly prefer the Mako's hands, and the dials are both fine. But the bezel was the deal breaker.
>Is the watch hobby a pathological obsession to fill a hole in our soul?
No, I just find little purely mechanical machines that can track time with 99.95%+ accuracy while being aesthetically pleasing to be pretty cool.
That's depressing. U sure about that? All hobbies are the same pursuit?
>No, I just find little purely mechanical machines that can track time with 99.95%+ accuracy while being aesthetically pleasing to be pretty cool.
Me too, but the 2 propositions are not mutually exclusive.
I have never owned any of the two, but for the looks alone, I'd buy the Mako II.
I tend to focus my pathological obsession to fill holes in other kind of targets
The cute kind
ah yes
our resident pedophile
>I'd buy the Mako II
Why though?
>I tend to focus my pathological obsession to fill holes in other kind of targets The cute kind
That's the same man!
I like the design of this watch, but the dial textures make it look really bad to me. It reminds me of cheap plastic toys from when I was little. What material is the dial actually made of, particularly the translucent part?I really like the strap though.
Not him, but every time you post this pic it kind of bugs me.
Pic related
I have the OG mako, I chose it because the dial looks a bit classier, I like the red tipped second hand, and I hate bracelets with the fake polished pieces. A lot of people hate the bezel font though so ymmv.
Really enjoying wearing my watch in this fantastic new style, thanks anons!
Ray, mostly because i dislike numerals.
Mako USA.
Best of both.
>Lack of numerals
>Better hand design
Anyone????
I'm?? not a fa?n of the ??design but if you??? like it????!?! then sure?
creation is okay??? but not realllyyyy??? in the customer sevice? department?????
It's reminiscent of these cheap ass Indian repaints.
SNK789, SNXS73 or SNKL07 are better options.
I like my pvd seiko myself, had it for a little over a year
You subhuman baboon. You literal nigger.
How dare you speak, you swarthy jungle monkey. How dare you open your big lipped, rim encrusted, menthol cigarette smelling mouth?
You are human trash, Diego Tyrone LeShawn de Maradona. Universally despised, derided and mocked. Your nationality and skin tone offers no hope to the world that South America can ever prosper. Crawl back in to the Brazilian jungle you came out of, you literal orangutan.
I hope you decide to sail your grandfathers skip to the Falklands and rape some sheep, as is in the negroes nature. It would still be the whitest pussy you ever had. Give Nigel and Robert a chance for some target practice, your sole use to the world. Argentinians obsession with a few windswept islands in the Atlantic is hilarious but sad. Coincidentally its the only worthwhile contribution Argentina has made to the medical field. The MUH LAS MALVINAS sentiment in the average negro Argentinian is both an early warning sign of autism in children, and early on set Alzheimer's in adults.
Take your black hairy fingers off your keyboard, and never talk about the human species again, you mockery of our supposed shared ancestor.. No amount of olive oil and wheat flour slabbed on your face every morning will make you white. It's about as delusional of an idea as your daydreams of European heritage.
You nigger.
You make Bolivia look like a beacon of civilisation.
You are the Baltimore of South America.
Go fertilise the pampas with you and your families corpses, its the best you can hope for in life. For the first time in your life, nigger, you have a job making food for beings vastly superior to yourself. Uruguayan cattle. Coincidentally, it would be the first time an Argentinian "man" provided for a family.
Die, Diego. No one would miss you. Except for Australian Aboriginals, who now would have no one to make them look good.
What's this Seiko? Its understated beauty is stunning.
66-7109 that i doubled my shekels on last week.
Gotta ship it tomorrow.
16 ain't pedo my friend
Plus, my current gf is 27 so no harm at all.
>Why though?
Contrary to popular opinion, I like the numeric indexes.
>That's the same man!
Yeah, but it makes life better.
>Yeah, but it makes life better.
Building a great relationship with a female you will marry with will make your life better.
Fucking gals without commitment and building and mutual trust and support never made anyone life better.
>Fucking gals without commitment and building and mutual trust and support never made anyone life better.
oh yes it did
Holy shit these steinshills.
One of my 3 best friends is a serial fucker and it brings doom to his life.
He's with a girlfriend, but he's not even able anymore to commit. He himself says it's his dark side.
>Building a great relationship with a female you will marry with will make your life better.
My girlfriend and I have been together for two years now so, I'm half way there.
Still, I'm not sure if I'm ready to bite the bullet. She is, though.
I have to take a more "normal" pic of the watch, where the texture doesn't look so exagerated. The opaque parts are made of solid silver, while the translucent section is made from some kind of crystal. It is that way because the numerals are lumed, and GG wanted them to be charged by time they were moved into position.
sucks to be him
works for me
>It is that way because the numerals are lumed, and GG wanted them to be charged by time they were moved into position.
That sounds so cool.
Muh watch.
>My girlfriend and I have been together for two years now so, I'm half way there.
>Still, I'm not sure if I'm ready to bite the bullet. >She is, though.
Takes a lot of time. I'm a (depraved) Catholic but I can tell you that I've seen my bro and his gal take a whole year seeing a priest, learning to know each other and to know what they where committing to and it's beautiful know (divorces percentages are 50% in Paris, my city, so we'll see).
If you're not religious you can do without that formally, but you can't do without that in reality, even if it's a secular version of learning and discovering what this commitment is.
My condolences.
>works for me
U sure? Deep down?
Even on a such a blurry photo taken under bad lighting i can see how terrible the finishing on the bridges and barrlel is.
Do you have any other hobbies that you spend amounts you would rather not say on?
yup
I'm 20 bro
>I'm 20 bro
U're a very young cat. You won't think the same at 30, trust me.
maybe not but i have 10 years of fucking around in my 20s to do before i worry about that shit
Flash forward a few years
>A recently divorced 30 year old woman now owns 1/2 of a very large watch collection
True. Just dont fuck up like most of us 30 something did.
Ting is, most of us fucked up in our 20's. There are tons of ways to fuck up. You get a grill pregnant, you get addicted to a substance, or you gert stuck in a carrier u hate are the 3 most common. The fourth is STD. If you're a serial fucker you'll have at least a few minor STDs. Don't get a nasty one.
I heard that the Ray/Mako feels much cheaper compared to an SKX, how true is that?
On an unrelated note should you write an "an" or "a" before SKX? I guess my logic is that it's pronounced "es" so a vowel
No doubt lawyer user knows a few loop holes around some pre-nup shit.
Any time the word is pronounced with a vowel at the beginning, then "An" is correct.
