General Tips:
>Consider substituting an i5 6500 for an i3 in any RX470/480 or GTX 1060 tier build
>Consider substituting an i5 for an i7 if you are not a content creator
>Consider stock fan+heatsink for any i3 or locked i5 build
>Consider a B150 mobo for any i3 build
>Always consider an SSD for your build, the difference between one and an HDD is night and day

Where could I find an ancient beige ATX pizza box case to mod

What if I'm not a manlet and can't physically build it like that?

cut off someone's legs and glue them to your feet

You know once the 12V ATX main cable is plugged in, everything on the motherboard is grounded to the PSU
Plug the PSU into the wall, and everything is already grounded

But that'll only make me taller, user.

your *tables feet, my bad

like so

sandy i3 to ivy i5 because I was tired of seeing it in the closet. Need to finish it so my anime body pillow can play gaems with me.

pop a 7.2k 1tb in it and call it good?

get a ssd/hdd and 16gb ram?

also I have 2x 120 fans in it now, should I just put two more in or get 2x 200mm and use one fan in the side panel?

You may be onto something there, my dude.

then you add a power outlet extension thing and add christmas ligh- er, I mean RGB lights on it and bring it to CES 2018, startup your own company

Constructive Criticism Needed

first time building, don't want to replace anything in a long ass time, $2k tops

I assume with that liquid cpu cooler and 750w psu you're going to be OCing? You already have an hdd lying around?

I just finished building my computer and missing a shit load of programs from my old computer like sai, ps6, sony vegas etc.
what torrent sites do you guys use now a'days that don't ooze with sketch?

yes Overclock both GPU, CPU
i have another SSD already

nah, thats just to keep a kaby lake cpu at resonable temps at stock

unfunny

The only difference between different i5 processors of the same generation is minor speed increase, right? there's no clear
"this one is better value for money than this one" answer.

i5 7600 vs 7500 for example

YES AN NO, BUT GENERALLY YES

/CRUISE CONTROL

Would a 600-650w PSU be find eo OCing the 6600K to 4.5Ghz along with the RX 470 in this build?

>Consider substituting an i5 for an i7 if you are not a content creator
You mean i7 for an i5?

In case some german user needs a new gold PSU, the Super Flower Leadex is currently on sale:
caseking.de/super-flower-leadex-80-plus-gold-netzteil-weiss-650-watt-nesf-036.html

Is there a good video guide on putting a pc together that you guys recommend? I'm scared I'll mess it up.

I always wondered about this everytime I see one of these threads but never bothered to ask.

No, you need at least 850W.

Logicalincrements has some good tutorials, other than that, those """tech youtubers""" have some suprisingly useful vids on that topic.

>whole thing doesnt even use 300W stock
>somehow OC needs 850W

youtube.com/watch?v=VIF43-0mDk4

Please go back, newfag.

if you have the money, an i7 will help stabalize your FPS which reduce FPS drops and lets you play on an higher average graphics setting

but if you want the best bang for your buck get an i5

Why can't I boot off of my SSD?
I had W10 installed on my laptop HDD which it's now using to get into my SSD- through Windows Boot Manager. But I can't boot directly off of my SSD. It won't show up in the BIOS list.

>implying you have one

have you tried other cables and the other sata ports?
check your AHCI mode in BIOS.

omfg haha

It can boot off of it through the other HDD- I'm running on it now.
And the BIOS can also see it through force-boot, but it won't boot through that.

Any sales coming up on newegg or anything? about to build an entire pc and need any price cuts I can.

Wait for Zen, there won't be any price cuts anytime soon.

Allow me to interject. What you're referring to as Zen, is actually RY+ZEN, or as I've recently taken to calling it RYZEN.

>current year
>arguing about semantics
Zen, Ryzen, Summit Ridge.. call it whatever you want, AMD doesn't know what to call it themselves.

Building a Pc for gaming and a bit of software development:

I am from EU, so prices are all over the place

It's shit. Also from what country?

When I ran Cinebench, I noticed that the the clock speeds of my FX 6300 cores were fluctuating in HWiNFO.

But when I play games nothing like that happens

It passes intelburntest

Should I be concerned?

Denmark.
Why is it shit?

is the corsair crystal series any good? they dont look they have holes for side fan mounting. do the 3 front fans do a good enough job?

Mobo is bare minimum, cooler is trash, no 3000 RAM, SSD is meh, case is probably overpriced where you life and only bronze PSU, although from SeaSonic.

>is the corsair crystal series any good?
Overpriced gaymen meme.
>do the 3 front fans do a good enough job?
If they have decent exhaust yes. Many cases don't have side fans and run cool.

Can someone recommend me a build for 1600$~ with gtx 1080? No ssd/hdd required, I do want an i7 7700k and z270 motherboard if possible

pls

Germany is a shit country for building as most of /eu/ is, parts are expensive as shit.
>tfw actually contemplating a pre-built PC

And with my 700-900€ budget I'll probably get shit at best.

There, better rams: pcpartpicker.com/list/LHHMyf
What is a better suited PSU?
And why would i choose a bigger/better mobo?

why are you buying last generation stuff? kaby lake can hit 5Ghz easy if you have a decent cooler (you should change yours) and its not much more expensive.

use komplett.dk or something instead

Yep, you get shit (on) at best. Thank Mutti Merkel and EU for all the extra taxes.
t. fellow german

>What is a better suited PSU?
SeaSonic G series or EVGA G2/3.
>And why would i choose a bigger/better mobo?
Better OC potential and features if you need them.
Also get rid of that useless Artic Freezer. That thing is ok for locked CPUs but that's it.

>better OC potential
he has a z170 in the list and OC has less to do with mobo these days and more with luck getting decent silicone and a lot to do with heat

>Consider a B150 mobo for any i3 build
why
bad advice and no reason for paying more

Yeah silicon lottery is a problem but even then, a mobo with worse VRM like the one on the MSI will be overall worse than for example the excellent VRM on the UD5.

this is in SEK just divide by 10 to get € or use google to get danskjävelkronor

New CPU and PSU: pcpartpicker.com/list/MpfzHN
How much noise does the noctua nh d14 generate?
And is there really any benefit to another mobo?
Z270 is not sold in my country.

I dont know if this is the place to ask this, but college has forced me to get a laptop for gayman and rendering, as opposed to a rig. Looking around I found that companies like PCspecialist and I think others offer custom laptops, self-built desktop style. Is this a good option for the bang for the buck, is it reliable, is it good in general? Or should I stick to normal 'prebuilt' laptops?

If prebuilt is the way, how can I sift throught the myriad of option for the best laptops?

>noise
far less than the piece of shit you chose earlier
>not sold in my country
durrrr komplett.dk/search?q=z270
>And is there really any benefit to another mobo?
google.com/search?q=z170 vs z270

>example the excellent VRM on the UD5.

(different person)
i went with the Gigabyte Z170x UD5 because of all the Mosfets thingys, power phases, and overclocker reviews.

more power phases = cooler power thingys = longer motherboard life span + more efficient & Accurate power delivery to the cpu. = safe stable overclocking for a long time.

noctua is known for being durable and quiet.

>How much noise does the noctua nh d14 generate?
Less than your tilted Intel Stock cooler.
>And is there really any benefit to another mobo?
Yes.
>Z270 is not sold in my country
Just get Skylake, Kaby Lake isn't worth the premium over Skylake in EU.

UD5 makes me wet, but it's too expensive and i don't need the features, but... WANT BUY.

>noctua
Ridiculous prices but absolutely worth it. I'm kinda excited what new arrivals they'll have in 2017.
They've been experimenting with new designs and materials.

>Just get Skylake, Kaby Lake isn't worth the premium over Skylake in EU.
no, wait for (ry)zen and hope intel drops the price on kaby.
kaby OCs far easier than skylake

>>noctua
>Ridiculous prices but absolutely worth it
here in sweden they're not even the most expensive and we barely have half the options as burgerland

I'm the user that had a problem with the drivers on a Windows 7 installation, but I was able to install a Windows 7 ultimate n edition copy. My problem is upgrading to Windows 10, I can't get it through accessibility because the key that worked with the iso is invalid for some reason, and the Daz loader tells me that it is an unsupported operating system. I was thinking of just installing an inactivated windows 10 and using kmspico to download, but I can't seem to make an install iso without a product key.

>no, wait for (ry)zen
True, Ryzen is our hope, i'm waiting as well.

>and hope intel drops the price on kaby.
>jews
>dropping prices
>ever
Is it nice to live in your dream world? How is it called?

>kaby OCs far easier than skylake
No. It OC's higher, but not easier since it's TIM sucks ass and get hot very easily and reaches 100°C on air @5GHz.
Imho one should replace the TIM for Kaby Lake OC with either liquid metal or Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, you can easily get 10-30°C.
Intel had this issue since Ivy Bridge i believe, but Kaby Lake is affected more than Skylake was.

>here in sweden they're not even the most expensive and we barely have half the options as burgerland
So i heard. A friend of mine lived some time in Norway and it's no different there.
Here in Germany we have good availability but horrible prices. 6660K costs like 245€ here, that's just blatant theft by state and EU.

Rate me.
i7 6700
GTX 1070
16GB DDR4 RAM
120GB SSD
1TB HDD

Mostly doing this for memes, most demanding shit I'll play is probably online chess and maybe some CSGO on the weekend lmao.
(I should probably get a 144hz monitor, will this be good enough for vr btw? Might try that out)

only reason they havent dropped prices in the last decade is because AMD havent had a good competitor

Making a build for my brother, is this ok?

i dont know anything about laptops, but it sounds like you need a workstation kind of thing.

a desktop variety i7
at least 16gb or ram
an ssd
and whichever gpu you can afford i guess
for faster rendering, smoother experience working within whatever software youre using, faster saving and loading of large files.

>uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/6d8gCy
ram & storage?

FUCK I'm dumb
Just adding them now and i'll post again

for what fucking purpose?
and you know Ryzen is like 1 month away, right? why the fuck would you buy something now?

>but college has forced me to get a laptop for gayman and rendering
lolno, you're just being a bitch

uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/Pv6WKZ
It'll still be ~$300 for that CPU, I'm not made of money

pcpartpicker.com/list/FTKsvV

can I make it better? +/- 20 dollars top

in time new ssd (2 months top) and 8gb ram more

Pentium G4560 is as good as the i3-6100 and $30 cheaper

>implying they're just releasing one model
>implying intel doesnt have alternatives
yes i can see you're mentally ill, go ahead and buy that extremely outdated architecture and dead socket

z170 mobo, faster ram and decent cooler so you can OC

save up more money if you cant afford it right now, you will be saving money in the long run because you wont have to upgrade as soon.

Nigga, try to haul a desktop in a bike 5km every day to a university for 4 years, then you can call me a bitch all you want.

What's the cheapest build I can make just for internet browsing/video streaming? Including Windows OS price. Is it possible to get sub $200?

uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/NccDm8
Completed list in case you need it but imho you should wait for Zen, it will release 28.02.

Cheaper RAM, add SSD, get the Deepcool Tesseract case, maybe get $20 cooler if you're noise sensitive.

pcpartpicker.com/list/HkLm7h

This is my upgrade package, its going into a Cosmos 1000 with a Geforce980 and storage.

A couple questions
Is there anything I need to do when switching from an amd to intel mobo/cpu?
If I bought a retail version of windows 7 and upgraded, will I be able to switch out the mobo without buying a new license?

buy used

>Geforce980
what

>Is there anything I need to do when switching from an amd to intel mobo/cpu?
format and reinstall

>If I bought a retail version of windows 7 and upgraded
you cant do that now

>will I be able to switch out the mobo without buying a new license
just fucking pirate the version you want

get a cheap ass laptop with decent battery life and a warranty and spend the difference between that and the ROOG STREAX VRRRRR-18xXx360n0_sc0pe

and build a decent box for rendering.

...

you've been a ton of help /pcbg/

>pleb case
>corsair cx

You might be missing a component m8.

So the PC I want to build is going to cost me ~$2300.

lol

Pic related, my desired build.

I'm looking for a good deal on a decent quality 2.5" 256gb SSD. Does anyone know what brands I should look out for? Also I'm in Canada

0/10 absolute dogshit.

they were both free and the 390x was $165. I think its a good start.

>he thinks the CX is bad

in reality it's one of the better bronzes out there and you're paying double for gold you'll never need.

bye bye old i3, you served me well.

Any constructive criticism or tips to improve it?

basic specs seem fine enough. not going to comment on your peripherals because really that's your choice.

How could I improve it without blowing my budget out even further? The peripherals I've got no problem with changing as I literally just clicked whatever was most popular and I could actually buy in Straya.

Honest advice: If you can't make out your mistakes you're better off buying a prebuilt package that comes with the PC, OS installed and peripherals.

Or you could tell me what mistakes I've made so I can actually learn.

I don't even know the aus market or the current exchange r8 m8. neither does
he just came here to rustle your jimmie

seems decent but I would go ex480 and a freesync monitor and shave the peripherals down some.

Or you could not ask people to spoon feed you and simply do your research or be a good goy and pay the premium for tech illiterates.
