Atom is for successful people. vim, emacs and all other retarded turbo autist shit is for hobbyists.

UNIX was literally written in ed you fucking hipster get the fuck out of here CALIFORNIA WILL BURN!!!

That's because Atom didn't exist back then...

looks like PHP what lang?

>all other retarded turbo autist shit is for him hobbyists
>Notepad++ is for hobbyists
>Notepad++
>hobbyists

please stop posting

Is he too poor to buy Sublime Text?

Jews don't buy things

Faceshit is made with PHP

Heavily modified PHP.

this
vimautists btfo

he really likes PHP huh

It's hack I think

Which is then transpiled to C and then compiled to binaries.

this is from his blog post. I don't even know what hack looks like desu

they use a jit compiler now

>PHP
What a subhuman.

Do you think he spaces or tabs?

He's a flaming faggot so he obviously spaces

Not at first, zuck wasn't an uber coder despite his richfag parents getting him a fucking CS home tutor. So fb was originally done on php and after it needed to scale they ran into limitations so now fb has to spend millions on ways to make php work because zuck didn't know any better languages

I myself use Atom
i'm not going to waste my time with other autistic editors
got more important shit to do bruh

I use mousepad and nano

Roast me

They use a typed version of PHP called Hack and run that on top of HHVM which is a PHP/Hack VM with JIT. HipHop used to transcompile PHP into C++ but that approached got scrapped a while ago.

It's actually pretty neat.

>mousepad
At least use gedit.

Here's a list of things that a successful text editor needs to do:
1. Edit text. That's fucking it.

Notepad, Ed, Vim, Emacs, Sublime, Notepad++, Atom, insert-editor-here, etc. ALL of them are perfectly useful and successful because they can all meet the requirement of editing text.

You fucking autists love to argue THE MOST POWERFULLY about THE MOST TRIVIAL SHIT THAT DOESN'T MATTER.

...

While I agree with you in part, Atom is a weird editor. It's literally re-skinned Chrome, so it takes ages to load up. Almost every other text editor is faster, and lighter on system resources.

What can ed do that emacs/vim/nano/whatever cannot?

> Unironically not using Visual Studio

get on with the times neckbeards

>implying he did that himself instead of telling Pajeet to do it

work with non character addressable terminals.

>not using Visual Studio Code
lmao

>Atom is for successful people
*successful retards
ftfy

eh?i though this is a text editor war thread?

Visual Studio is an IDE. It's great for debugging and developing Windows applications, but beyond that it's a shitty generic editor like Notepad or Gedit.

If you aren't using an editor that can modify itself (Vim, Emacs, (Sublime and Atom to a lesser extent)), then you're limiting your text editing capabilities.

I know you're making a joke, but for many people, an IDE is a perfectly serviceable text editor. See

>it's a shitty generic editor like Notepad

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

no

your neckbeard editor doesn't even have code suggestions dork

>GTK3
No thank you!

unix was probably written with pen and paper, and the code was typed in (maybe with ed, ye). Not much point in editing text on computer if screens don't exist.

Fuck off, everyone using a different editor than my favorite should just kill themselves.

is there even a better IDE than IntelliJ IDEA?

Objectivly when it comes to most languages that matter, no there isnt

fuck this shit, it takes centuries to startup

or too dumb to mod it to work for free

>fuck this shit, it takes centuries to startup

>not having an SSD
shiggy diggy

>Pai Ajit
>Paiajit
>Pajeet
MEME MAGIC STRIKES AGAIN

>Slow to start
>Memory hog
>Buggy as hell
>Abusive license

Why people use that shit?

where do I apply for the MS shill job?

you forgot

>22

why arent we talking about him SHILLING shit editor?

There isn't.

how does it go from the code to AI?
what's atom?
what language do you use for AI?

>ALL of them are perfectly useful
This is demonstrably false. You can edit text with dd but you can experimentally prove that it's less efficient than other text editors.

>THE MOST TRIVIAL SHIT THAT DOESN'T MATTER.
Community size is extremely important. If I can convince 10% of editor A's users to switch to my text editor, that means my text editor will have a larger community, will get better packages and language support, will get bug reports and patches faster, will have a smaller chance of becoming completely irrelevant in five years, etc.

i wonder who he stole the code from this time.

>>mfw when

>zuckerberg uses atom
another reason to stay far away from it

...

you're are mother

Zuckerberg's not a real software engineer, nor is he a real UNIX engineer. He's a businessman who happened to build a successful website in college.

You think he spends all day at a terminal? Of course not.

>Not much point in editing text on computer if screens don't exist.
>Computers in 1969 didn't have screens
And the most retarded post of the year goes to you.

Atom is successful, but will it be around in 10 years?

I don't want to learn a new editor every couple years because there is a new meme editor.

Also atom still doesn't have a terminal UI so I have to use another editor in the terminal.

Emacs and vim are great because they are actively maintained and you can assume you will only ever need to learn one editor.

>go to atom website
>see pic related
into the trash it goes

>go one step further
>read faq
>see:
>Why does Atom send usage data to Google Analytics?
>In the same way that aggregate usage information is important when developing a web application, we've found that it's just as important for desktop applications. By knowing which Atom features are being used the most, and how the editor is performing, we can focus our development efforts in the right place. For details on what data Atom is sending or to learn how to disable metrics gathering, visit github.com/atom/metrics.
not only into the trash it goes, light the trash on fire.

he spends his time suing people off their land to claim it for himself and helping merkel silence opposition against her on facebook.

css

>Slow to start
Compared to what? vim?
>Memory hog
Yeah, it must suck to have to use your system memory for doing stuff.
>Buggy as hell
Citation needed
>Abusive license
It's Open Source

Jesus fucking christ..... what's he playing at.

Atom has 30ms to 50ms latency

He also uses Macs and iPhone.

Checkmate, poorfag Pajeets who shill android.

>folkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolkfolk
just kill me now please

>a fucking web app
>i bulded A EYE

Nice try, Jetbrains, and fuck off with your shitty product.

Ed can do so many things that nano can't it would take weeks to list them all. Regex is only the start

Get a fucking SSD.

>Falling for the Net Neutrality meme
>Wanting the government to actively have some control over the Internet

Learn LISP
A shitty editor
LISP

Stop shitting on my board, Pajeet.

Why use any other editor when you can do pic related.

>You fucking autists love to argue THE MOST POWERFULLY about THE MOST TRIVIAL SHIT THAT DOESN'T MATTER.

That's autism in a nutshell bro.

He uses Atom because other facebook devs have made a really good plugin suite for Atom.

nuclide.io/

I use Atom with a Vim plugin.

>IDEA Zero Latency
how?
