Hi, In the past months I've been trying to put together a new PC to retire my old Q6600. Bought the parts and now I'm down to the CPU.
So, I can get both the i5-6600 and the i5-7600 for the same price but I've read around that Win7 isn't compatible with the new Kaby Lake and the changes aren't all that great. I can live with Windows 10 but if I have to choose, I would go with Windows 7. This, mixed with the fact that the changes between Skylake and Kaby Lake are not so big, makes me wonder.
If you plan on keeping for several years, something will force you to go w10 sooner or later anyway
Henry Harris
This. Windows 7 is on borrowed time no matter how you look at it. It only has three more years of security updates, after that every new windows 10 update is a zero day exploit for windows 7.
Carson Rogers
Just buy the Kaby Lake version and use Win10. Since Win7 supports will end anyway.

It doesnt matter. >sky 100% performance Does what u want in old and new mobos with any os. >kaby 101% performance Old mobos needs bios upgrade. W7 works with it fine. The only feature is netflix refusing to go over 720p if you dont use edge + w10 + kaby combo. And only reason this exists is because ms and netflix are jews.
So if it costs the same, go for the 1% increase. Thank monopoly for that.
>w10 sooner or later And this is the reason why you want to make sure your new hardware is capable of gpu passthrough and proper emulation.

RYZEN Y Z E N
no legit it comes out in under a month.

>netflix refusing to go over 720p if you dont use edge + w10 + kaby wait whaa?
this some DRM bullshit or like using a new instruction?
Evan Kelly
how about the i3 7350k?
William Thomas
FX 8350!!! LOL JK
Aaron Gutierrez
ik the joke there but still right now is the worst time to buy am3 since ryzen is on the way and intel is shitting out CPU's like bricks
Dominic Reed
Alright, it makes sense >And this is the reason why you want to make sure your new hardware is capable of gpu passthrough and proper emulation. This is something I've wanted to do since I saw that Wendel video but since I need a lot of shit on Windows I have to give up on any linux distro.
Thomas Bailey
Post parts list.

Sky.
Kaby overheats, requires Windows 10, new more expensive mobos, and barely outperforms Skylakes.
The Benchmarks I saw don't go higher than 70° under stress testing. I'm talking about the non-unlocked i5.
Camden Ramirez
kaby has HDCP 2.2 DRM built into the chip. It's meant to stop people recording streams between the video card and doing screen capture.
Landon Morgan
Kabylake if you're doing new build. Kaby IS compatible with Windows 7. But be aware of this: If you buy a 100-series motherboard instead of a 200-series YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE THE BIOS USIG A SKYLAKE CPU NEVER ASSUME THE MOTHERBOARD BIOS WILL BE UPDATED Don't make the same mistake i made ;_;
Dylan Reed
I thought win10 shilling was a joke. >its fucking real
Jason Butler
I can't really avoid it since that comes also along with the GPU. Don't worry, I'm going to buy a z270 board so I won't have the same problem. It's Microsoft forcing its users, they want to avoid another decade of supporting an old operating system like what happened with Windows XP. Sad part is, Win10 is here to stay along with the awful UI and spyware.

WINDOWS 7 WILL NOT WORK ON KABY LAKE
WHAT IS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND?
William Brown
>Baby Lake >Not Ryzen :^)
Landon Thomas
We don't even know if it's worth a shit yet
Jason Diaz
>WILL NOT WORK
WRONG R O N G
Brayden Bennett
Go find me the USB, xHCI drivers, and chipset. Link them here. I'll wait, but you can't, because there are none.
WINDOWS 7 DOES NOT SUPPORT KABY LAKE
Jaxon Mitchell
It's clocked 5% at stock. It's just the IPC that's at 101%
Ryan Young
nigger, nearly none of 2015+ motherboards support Windows 7 installation through USB, even AMD chipsets are like that. Just get a dvd fag
Wyatt Miller
No you idiot, the drivers you use AFTER the installation. Go look up xhci and what it does.
Scroll down and download your nonexisten drivers from W7 32bit to W10 64bit. Maybe if intel actualy release new architecture than w7 may become obsolete. Until then enjoy stable os.
