what's your opinion Sup Forums?
Is this the best laptop out there right now?

I tried one at a store. The screen is nice, but the keyboard and mousepad are pretty bad. Also, the 15" model has pascal graphics, which is horrible for linux.
Shit keyboard and shit trackpad. Do they even try?
That's not a 7000 Precision series
have you even tried one, the keyboard is good for a membrane and mouse pad is glass so it objectively has to be at least decent
Yes I have. May have been last generation model.
what does Sup Forums think of razer laptops?
FUCK
wat
DIDF pls
that's too large, I'd rather have the xps 13, but the last generation was meh. this generation was almost perfect, but I want usb-c only for charging (don't want dell's ancient barrel connector taking up precious space where another usb-c port could be).
i think the stealth is a good ultra-book for the price, but disgusting logo, gaymer look + tiny screen and thicc bezels is not for me
the 14 inch seems pretty comfy as well but still has the same problems as above minus screen size prob, also it is pricey
17" is gross, i haven't heard many good things about it, and its really fuckin expensive. also lefties are fucked bc the track pad is on the right side of the computer, not centered
most of this is speculative
I was planning on buying one
>no numpad
Kys
I'm no Lenovo fan, but I'll rather use my T560.
The best two laptops are this
And this
>>>>two in ones
>implying they're not the best
How many "Dell XPS 13 Late 2016 Refresh now with affordable financing from $63/Month for new and old Small Business / Home Users" threads are we going to have, Rajeesh?
What's your quota per week?
13">15"
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Not him, but when I was looking at laptops this past week I heavily considered a two in one. The yoga 910, envy x360, and dells xps 13 two in one are all damn nice machines.
I picked up a 9343, generation before they added usb c but the extra $150 for it didn't seem with it to me :/
>Is this the best laptop out there right now?
That's not a picture of the X62.
So, no, it is not.
Agreed. Razer has already grown past the gaymer gear days when it started out. No need to keep using that [autistic screeching] logo. They make laptops with respectable build quality, might as well act like it. People use them for more than gaming now. And yes the 17" is bad. Keyboard is trash.
I'm just waiting for them to put out an ultrabook that isn't for gaming. I just want their build quality and a good battery. i don't need them to stuff a graphics card in there.
This.
Tried their laptops when I passed by a Razer store* a while ago.
Apart from the logo and the colored keyboard lights (and the font, but that is not too obvious), those seemed easily like the best looking laptops on the market nowadays, since chinkpad have lost any and all visual uniqueness they once had.
Sure, its essentially a black macbook clone, but the blackbook was always the best macbook, so it's an improvement.
Now they just need smaller bezels, a trackpoint, a 7 row keyboard and solid build quality, and lenovo can fucking die and fuckoff for all I care.
*holy fucking shit!
What a "shopping experience"!
I giant, cave like room, with the only light coming from the monitors and the myriad of colorfull LEDs. So dark that you can't even make out the prices or specs of the gear on display, without grabing a laptop and pointing its monitor towards the label next to it.
And all those fat (man)childs, playing Gears of Call Battlefield duty 23452 or whatever is the hype nowadays.
If you are a child molester with low standards, that probably is the place to go, since no one will recognize you in that pitch black darkness.
>financing a laptop
that's a thing?
Surface perfected the laptop, now it just needs oled or whatever the surface studio is rocking
from a standpoint: complete shit
from an another standpoint: as a guy on the go and likes to draw weeb shit, is nice.
>Gears of Call Battlefield duty 23452
now thats a game i want to play
College kids are getting memed hard to buy a 800+ laptop for taking notes and watching youtube.
Problem is we're not the biggest market. If lenovo's switch to chiclet keys is any indication, no body except a small vocal minority actually cared. Problem is they're the same type of person to hack the thinkpad BIOS, replace the screen, and buy used x220s on ebay for $200. That enthusiast crowd also hates buying new and prefers souping up their 6 year+ thinkpad for as long as they can. Manufacturers aren't going to give us a space on the product line for a our dream laptop.
So sit back and enjoy 2 max ports, super thin, shit battery, and underpowered ultrabooks for coffeetable casuals OR BLACK AND RED GAYMER GEAR THATS OVER SPECCED. At least gaymers have neetbux to blow on overpriced gaming laptops.
I have nothing to complain about. I'm going to solder an adapter board on my x220 to install a FHD screen and use it for the next 3 years.
Better than most laptops and considering the small formfactor both are mroe than decent. Have the XPS 9550.
Jesus christ you are autistic.
>shit battery
kek. this fucker lasts 10 hrs
>and buy used x220s on ebay for $200.
Yeah, guilty, though it was an X61 and X200 for me and from a slightly upmarket "official" reseller of leased machines.
However:
Now that I finally finished uni and have a well paying job, and actually can ask my employer for a machine AND buy the laptop of my dreams myself, and of course, that would have been two new, top of the line thinkpads, costs be damned, but they are now just generic-totally-not-a-macbook-clone-we-have-another-color-see-we-are-totally-different!!! craptop, I can't justify it, so I just got the standard machine for work that everyone else has (happens to be a fujitsu) and a slightly newer used thinkpad for my private use.
now I'm just waiting for the retro (lol, as if…) or maybe risk getting the X62 or for apple to be courageos and "invent" modularity and serviceability, so that everyone else has to copy it.
>best laptop
But where is the trackpoint?
I heard they fail really easily and when they do razer makes getting support a literal hell.
falls over by itself when open due to lighter chink board
What?
You mean the bottom is too light?
I dont believe it.
The old board is also pretty light, can't make that much of a difference.
>that off center webcam just so they could put the dell logo in the center
Fucking terrible if you ask me. They should have just incorporated the webcam into the logo.
apparently the new board + some of the bigger battery offerings make it incredibly back-heavy. Here's a post on (((((reddit))))) trying to justify it.
also no fan curve
When does acer vx 15 come out. They said january at ces but its jan 25 already and no news
Thinkpad T460
I am glad I'm not the only one with taste on this board.
If you're gonna have so much empty space around the keyboard, why not split it and angle it out so it's more ergonomic?
>dat pic
Kek, most of those are my threads, the Windows 10 ones at least, just made them to draw more negativity onto microshit.
>"""""""(((((((funny)))))))"""""""
> Using a 9550 with Arch.
> Being this based
I've heard new pascal models has only glossy display.
Whats this new jewery Dell?
>spending over $300 on a laptop
Everything under $300 are calculators. What are you talking about user?
Looks like a black macbook with a dell logo on it.
Used Thinkpads are great, but you can't game on those Fermis/Intel HD today.
I can't get over how fucking retarded that keyboard looks.
Why not simply add some weight to the front?
>Back heavy
Can't really imagine how that would be a problem, since the battery is right under the display hinges anyways. And you always had to grab the bottom when opening it, since the oldschool hinges were imensely powerful.
And with the 9cell, it cant really tip over, since the battery extends beyond the hinges.
like any mac in the last 10 years ?
>keyboard and mouse are pretty bad
Compared to what? The only trackpad I know that is better is the one in Macs and the only keyboard better than this in a laptop of the same thickness is the one in the Thinkpad X1.
Slightly too heavy and a bit too powerful as a daily driver, when paired with a desktop. It's probably good as the main machine if you don't want a desktop.
Not him, but there's tons of space on the sides for a proper arrow + Home/End + PgUp/PgDown cluster.
>hurr autism
I use a XPS13, using Fn whenever I need to switch desktops in fedora or reach the end of the line when typing is not an optimal experience.
If you are a liberal arts major then ok but shit like engineering classes requires top specs for the programs.
>too heavy
If the XPS 13 is too heavy then a thinkpad must be obese (or in America called a size Medium in the shirt department).
You can get some nice lenovo ideapads and chromebooks for $300
How much?
I need a new laptop.
oled is the only reason I'm even paying attention to razor blades right now
if it had a numpad i'd instabuy
>assuming its at least decent
Have you even tried on you fucking cock suck
>needing a numpad
Are you a cashier or what?
I got mine with 0% interest for 12x payments. It's pretty comfy.
>dell
OP says some dell laptop is the best laptop. (It isn't)
Surface book is better
I have one. Avoid it like the plague. It's way over priced and the keyboard is utter garbage.
Looks like someone re-released the x-series thinkpad tablets
Let's not.
I use the one with the 960M at work with the docking station. It runs Arch Linux like a champ, but you have to suspend/resume once to make the headphone jack work. I also blew up both of my speakers while the boss was looking over my shoulder.
Underrated as fuck post.
I like my Thinkpad x201, although the T42 will always be THE patrician mobile computer. Both of them are still "out there right now", so I would have to go with later IBM model thinkpads and earlier Lenovo model chinkpads.
>13 inch
Nope.
The best is the not manlet version and with the last nvidia chip: XPS 15 9560
used thinkpad/elitebook.
I have a Precision 15" 5510 or something like that, performance is great, screen is great, keyboard is acceptable (and im picky, coming from a T420), it has serious issues though. the chassis will ground on the board if you touch it in certain places (like where you would pick it up), causing it to immediately crash, speakers blew out once, small metal shavings from fabrication had to be manually removed from the speaker grills (was causing loud distortion before), the machine comes on randomly, so in my backpack it's always coming on and crashing from overheating. I'm on my second, last one was sent back to dell, this one has the same issues. up to date running win10...
linux doesn't like the "raid" controller.
Samefag kys
Idk, mobile GPUs are still pretty shitty and I like my 6 cores/12 threads for muh Blender, so I still have a desktop and just a leightweight 13" to take with me
Dell xps 13 / 15.
But for the price it's not worth it
Enjoy your proprietary drivers and screen tearing faggot.
Thinkpads have better trackpads and keyboards, plus the clit.
my last dell had an issue with the AC adapter detection, which hardware locked the CPU frequency at 800MHz and prevented battery charging.
I decided to stop buying things from Dell after that experience. Their laptops are notorious for those failures.
Let's.
this guy pulls this out of his ass,
then this guy follows his lead despite not knowing what he's talking about
this is typical Sup Forums
Hey OP, I've been looking at this laptop for a while...it's pretty good, the 15" isn't much bigger than a MBP 13" since the screen has like no bezels. Best windows trackpad, keyboard doesn't compare to old lenovo, but nothing will ever. Also the gpu is not the fastest but it's pretty good. You can google discount coupons and get 100-150$ discount which makes it a good deal. I'm just waiting later in feb to order mine, apparently they'll add the fingerprint on it for windows hello.
The obvious choice user,
Almost. The one without a touchbar got an even longer batter life and the only downside is that you have pick your emojis with the trackpad.
Is the razer blade stealth any good?
I've had shitty luck with laptops. My laptops always seem to get their hinges fucked up. Not sure if I have a poor choice in laptops or if I am rough with them. Maybe both. Tired of it.
it's a meme, user
I am waiting for SP5 news, then depending on how that turns out, buying one, or getting a X1 carbon/XPS 13"
Honestly, specs over price, I would say so... I wish there was a discrete version of it, as in, a subtle razor logo and no gaymur meme shit jizzed all over it.
Even the thinnest lenovo laptops have great keyboards.
indiegogo.com
Is this worth $40 more than a node 202 + psu combo?
are those certified refurbished thinkpads actually good? how long do they last?
Well I already have powerful desktop and the logo can be turned off. As a second machine to do light task would it be good?
How so, I just need something that can do basic task and that is thin and light. The XPS 13 is too pricey for what it is any recommendations?
